When I listen to Bobby, the song sound like a big drum solo (at this video), but Aquiles know how mix the drum in the hole sound. But both are great, and thinking that one is better than another is a matter of taste.
aquiles stuff is easier to play and understand. bobby is at another level. superhuman drumming level. aquiles is very good drummer but bobby is much more advanced drummer technically.
Ask yourself this question, can Bobby do everything Aquiles is doing? Can Aquiles do everything Bobby is doing? There is your answer, and it's very clear!

And he probably wouldn't have been selected since his drumming personality is so big and DT wanted a guy that would listen to them, and not play to far from their comfort zone. The closest thing to describe it is "reality TV" and as we know, reality is the furthest from what it really is. That drumming position was never open to begin with. It was Manginis gig from the start. DT had wanted to make a mini series of these "auditions" and sell the content to broadcast. The ones they shopped the idea to nixed it. Eventually DT got little time left and decided to release it on YT themselves instead. By then the gig was already snatched by Mangini. The whole auditions thing was staged. And regarding Bobby J, that was one of the reasons why he didn't want to participate. It wouldn't do anything for him. No payday and gig wasn't open either... That's really what happened. There are better drummers out there than Mangini but Mangini still was always the fit for DT.
It's not that I am not impressed with Priester's incredible speed. But Bobby Jarzombek does stuff that no other human being could even conceive of, let alone do.

I agree. Jarzombek is extremely well-respected in the smaller circles, since he isn't very well known (and from his personality, I can see he likes it that way). The man is dedicated to his music! Beastly talent at drumming. Like you said, makes everything flow very seamlessly!
To start the debate, in my opinion there's no contest, Bobby IS GOD! The fact that he teach himself to use his left hand to hit the hi hat and ride, while maintaining a right handed tomb and cymbal distribution, is proof of how skill his brain is in isolate his limbs from one another.
Both are in leagues of their own. Bobby has his pinpoint timing shifts and Aquiles has such magnificent ambient energy, it would be hard to decide between the two.
I see what you mean for sure. But, I was hoping that someone like Jarzombek would raise the band to a new level. What I like about Jarzombek is that he makes odd signatures blend very smoothly. The new Arch / Matheos is a perfect example. Just amazing stuff that seems to flow naturally even though the signatures are all over the place. This guy is just so unique in style.

AP is a great, great player. fun, talented, great Portuguese buttery smooth playing, feel. Bobby is an alien who not only hits the drums, symbols but knows where they are to within a micron of their actual position..he is on another cosmic plane his limb independence and presence of mind is idk, unreal?
I'd also like to note that I hope you have listened to Bobby's playing on the Spastic Ink albums with his brother. That's where his playing truly shines. As a matter of fact, it's SO much better than anything he's done in just about every other band he's been in, that it's almost a shame. For how technical he is as a drummer, he's almost TOO humble! Kind of like Mangini on the new DT album. I hoped to hear more Fire Garden Suite type of stuff, but alas, he took a more direct approach. Anyway...

The continuing rash of "vs." videos featuring musicians who wouldn't consider their art to be a competitive sport leaves me rather cold - if only for the fact that relegating music validity to only include performances of highly technical intricacy seems to do everyone a disservice. That said, and trying to judge each performance purely on technical ability (which is less subjective than musicality) Bobby is one of the best technicians on the planet. Aquiles plays in a more straight-ahead metal style but that doesn't mean he deserves your respect one iota less. Just enjoy it :)
I like both drummers honestly i know both have their own strengths and few err weaker areas? (very few lol) however i love how Aquiles accents on the other melodies and rhythms in the songs he plays with. But i can respect both. What do you think?

Don't fool yourself, all the best drummers can play each others material if wanted. It's all personal taste who you'd prefer really. Just like guitarists. They can all play each others stuff, but it's all personal taste on who's performance you like the best.
He's played with Sebastian Bach, Halford, Iced Earth, and far more. The stuff you would consider to be "showing off" is what you would find on extremely complex albums, like Spastic Ink (which is purely he and his brother, who are both amazingly technical musicians). The reason I keep pointing out the instructional point with the clips in this video is because a drum instructional *should* showcase a drummer's technical abilities. His "what's best for the song" work, however, is found elsewhere.

Just like maybe some days I'll listen to simpler playing (like Brann Dailor from Mastodon?), other days will be listening to maybe, Derek Roddy or George Kollias lol. @progmetalkd I agree with you! I don't like power metal, so that says a lot in itself. Generally, I just really love Bobby's approach and technical prowess. He seems to work amazingly in many different time signatures, while remaining interesting musically. With all due respect, Aquiles seems to be one of the many metal drummers that relies on flams to make drum parts sound difficult. That being said, they are both incredible players, so it's really a matter of taste.
Ha. Those are just different drummers, different drumming styles. It's really hard to find someone better than Aquiles for dense and powerful metal music, and it's equally hard to find a so highily prepared and versatile drummer like Bobby. They both rock. If you agree, give thumbs up and enjoy their work, from Angra to Spastik Ink. : )
The first clips are from an instructional video he put out a few years ago. You can get it on his website at his dot-com. I believe many of the songs, are as others have stated, are from a project he does with his brother, Ron Jarzombek. Called Spastic Ink. I forget who the bassist is on those tracks. Good stuff though. @progmetalkd I agree with you! I don't like power metal, so that says a lot in itself. Generally, I just really love Bobby's approach and technical prowess. He seems to work amazingly in many different time signatures, while remaining interesting musically. With all due respect, Aquiles seems to be one of the many metal drummers that relies on flams to make drum parts sound difficult. That being said, they are both incredible players, so it's really a matter of taste.

Ha. Those are just different drummers, different drumming styles. It's really hard to find someone better than Aquiles for dense and powerful metal music, and it's equally hard to find a so highily prepared and versatile drummer like Bobby. They both rock. If you agree, give thumbs up and enjoy their work, from Angra to Spastik Ink. : )

They're both awesome, but my fav between the two is Aquiles.
It's from his instructional DVD called Performance & Technique. I'm not even a drummer and I own it because that guy blows my mind.
The first clips are from an instructional video he put out a few years ago. You can get it on his website at his dot-com.
I believe many of the songs, are as others have stated, are from a project he does with his brother, Ron Jarzombek. Called Spastic Ink. I forget who the bassist is on those tracks. Good stuff though.

Musica não é comparaçao,mas neste caso não ha nada a comparar! O Bobby é de outro planeta. O Aquiles é muito bom,mas é um tipico speed metal batera batendo 4 por 4.
