1 - Australia's broadcaster SBS is part of the European Broadcasting Union which is the actual requirement for entering Eurovision.
2 - Eurovision has been very popular in Australia for over 35 years.
3 - Australia's population is mostly of European descent and has a strong European culture and political systems.
4 - Australia is part of the commonwealth and Queen Elizabeth 2 is also the Queen of Australia.
5 - Australia is contributing financially to Eurovision.
Furthermore Australia is not the only country competing who is not actually in Europe and Eurovision probably has long-term plans to extend globally.

Finally we have a real ESC song. Her performace, style, song, singing and all the rest is 100% ESC. I watched it on the official ESC channel (your small pic-in-pic does not gibe the full sound). I like how she behaves a like a lunatic sometimes. I do not say that this is great art but it is ESC art and that is what we want. So far. Australia Douze Points!!

Her scarf meet with the sea thanks to wind. Her nose , ears chap and her eyes tear cos of the wind and cold.
She takes of her shoes and her feet feel the waves of the ocean. Cold , dark water ... A bottle of red wine and trembling body.
This is the scene. Montaigne's shaky vocal in australia decides matches with the songs vulnerability. It s so sincere and effective.
