You’ve been becoming one of my fav whiskey TH-camrs, and this video is a great example. Better than most blinds out there because it addresses questions we want to know that nobody has answered
Thank you appreciate it! Always try to compare what I got
BourbonBill giving us a double double review with the garrison brothers side bar review lol Good work my dude.
Haha you know that’s how this channel roles
Wow, they are racking up the batches, I just bought batch 42
Yeah they sure seem to be
They are all fantastic! Great review and comparison BB. 🥃
Thanks Dave for supplying 90% of this video lol
You had mentioned a "table varnish" note here. In my experience, that's a rare note to pick up and probably a lot of people will never. But I have picked it up just a few times. In my tasting notes I called it "floor varnish." It's a very distinct note and, must say, I don't care for it. (But other people don't seem to mind it.)
On Rare Breed, the first notes you picked up were "spice." And that, right there, is one reason why Rare Breed was not a re-buy for me; I'm not a fan of spice in bourbon.
I had written off the James E Pepper because I had heard that other iterations of the brand were spicy but I guess you didn't find this particular batch spicy?
I get that varnish note most heavily on garrison brothers stuff it isn’t my favorite but it’s not a horrible note. I had slight hints of it on the Rebecca creek but not as much. I would say the decanter has some baking spices but I found it more fruity in comparison to what I was drinking and it had a deeper flavor. I think there is batch variation though on them
Love me some Rare Breed!
It’s a beast for its price point
Ha rare breed vs James pepper decanter was my next planned blind. When I first tried it I immediately connected it in profile to rare breed. Might also add a KC pick and Bardstown BiB
Haha yeah I didn’t at first think they would be similar and I mean they are not identical but I was having trouble with them
Pepper decanter is a great bottle
I did enjoy the sample for sure one of the more surprising releases this year
Watching your videos while living in PA is like when I used to watch MTV Cribs....lot of things I can't get...lol Absolutely love the reviews and blinds...Cheers
Haha that had me laughing. Hey a quick trip across the border to the east can get you a lot of these items
Great whiskey. I haven’t had the Four Gate or Rebecca’s Creek, but the others are solid.
Yeah the James E pepper was the surprise I liked it but didn’t realize how much lol
I picked a James E. Pepper 1776 Barrel proof 116 proof. It's 'the young and fast' stuff they were putting out back in the old west days. You want aged or proof?
Haha yeah I feel like I’ve always shied away from there stuff previously heard it wasn’t good lol. But the decanter is and it’s the only one from them I would buy
Nice review Bill!!! On the fence with four gate but agree the price is high. Although sharedpour has it for 159 doll hairs now. Is it worth that?
Thank you and no not worth the money go buy the Seelbachs 10yr mgp Bull Run Bourbon finished another 1.5yrs in cognac will beat the pants off that four gate full review on that bottle out Thursday
Ok, the "Veeerrrrryyy" was awesome! But I need the hands shakin for full effect!!! C'mon Bourbon Bill 😂
Haha next week I’ll try again
I can pick out any WT product just by nosing..Rare breed in Georgia is basically the same price as James E Pepper..I have both in the Cabinet so I’m bout to do my own tasting..might add OF 1920..thanks and cheers
Let me know how you end up with those three
Rare Breed is solid for sure. Have not had any of the others, but I will have to do some searching. Probably not the Four Gate based on your recommendation.
Yeah save the coin on the four gate not worth it at all.
Pepper is so good.
It really is
How do you figure out the batch # of James peppers? Mine is 53.8% and is opening up to be very decent.
I think it’s on the neck tag of the bottle to be honest but that was a sample I had didn’t see the actual bottle
@@bourbonbill 🤦 correct! I have batch 11.
@@mathewketner1029haha glad you found it
wish RB was filtered.
You mean non chil filtered? The travel exclusive is but I haven’t traveled out of the country to be able to get one
compute,compute... you are correct sir
@@SubourbonI want to find one and do the comparison for sure though
Noel nooooel
Nooooeeeelllll!
Rare breed is nothing compared to Rebecca creek. Shit Rebecca creek is 5x better than pappy 15 and anything else I have had.
I would agree for the Rebecca creek like 15 yr but the 5yr Rebecca Creek while very good doesn’t quite reach the heights their 15yr plus offerings do
