Awesome video! Toilets and showers. Toilets shown on the ghost and razorcrest. Showers as depicted on the AT Hauler. Beds were pretty common on freighters, falcon, Ghost and a very small bunk on the razorcrest. Otherwise you got the bases covered.
@@RadioFreeCoruscant maybe a part 2 id be interested in what they ate on long hauls. Shelf stable processed food, like the green slime Rey had or the waffle things on rebels.

To survive in the GFFA, you would absolutely need a Protocol droid and an Astromech. One to handle machines you don’t understand, the other to handle people you don’t understand. I would also want a ship with a full bath.
I feel like there would be a big market for droids that function as protocol and astromechs at the same time. I can’t think of any examples of this, but it seems like something that should exist. As for baths, I’d be willing to bet that you could get one of those installed in any medium to large yacht!
I'd probably look into a protocol droid that has medical functions, or vice versa, since they seem to favor bipedal frames for those roles. If I were running a freighter doing long hauls I'd probably want include some sort of hydroponics and aquarium system for fresh food. There's a decent chance you could even barter the things you grow on planets that don't support them.
The Force is my ally. Using Instinctive Astrogation, I may not end up where I planned to be, but instead find myself where I NEED to be! As for the people I meet in my journeys, I just listen, both to their voices and their minds. "There is no Ignorance, there is Knowledge." That being said, there is much to recommend droids. A ship-brain, fashioned from an R4 Cargomech (like an Astromech, but marketed for freighter crews) brain and supplemented with an extensive multiculture Database, can both fly the ship and provide company. :)
In 1994, WEG released Galaxy Guide 6 Tramp Freighters. In it, there was a discussion on fuel. I do not remember where the fuel price was listed, but if you do not want to pay the docking fees to fill up your tank.... On pg 41 and 42, it also spoke of Fuel Converters. Solid Fuel Converters can convert virtually any material into fuel cell power. Cost is 8K credits and weighs 5 tons. You can also have a Scoop. A Scoop is basically the Solid Fuel Converter with a shovel, allowing you to "drive by" and collect resources--like atmosphere and seas. Cost is 15K credits and weighs 15 tons. And if you do not like to "steal" resources, just get a deployable giant solar-absorbant sail. It takes about 15 days to fill up in system and will run you 12K credits with a weight of 10 tons. And lastly, you can add a Tractor Beam to help the get the raw material into the Solid Fuel Converter for only 8K creds and 15 tons!
Wow, that’s really interesting! I’ll have to check out some of the old reference books and see what kinds of things are in there sometime. Is there one in particular that you’d recommend from a lore perspective?
I imagine most ships have some level of water recycling and larger ships can maybe grow their own food We also know that star wars mres are common so that's probably in consumables
In the larger lore Toilets are basically a self contained contraption that provides its own water, adjusts to most species physiology and biology, and uses the waste to power its own batteries and refresh the water. I can only assume showers and sinks are the same where they reprocess the small volume of water inside them and either compact or burn the waste from the filtering system. So a few extra litres in containers to refresh the water recyclers storage containers and some soaps, and you are basically set.
If I ever found myself maruned in the star wars galaxy, and forced to live on a ship I'd probably kill the time by building and customising droid to help in maintenance. Two problems solved at onced
Great job. I also appreciate seeing Sequel Trilogy, Solo, The Mandalorian, etc., materials in the background. Some seem to avoid using these materials.
I try to use stuff from those pretty often, but I especially needed to this week since I’ve been doing mostly prequel and Clone Wars stuff for the last couple months and still have a lot of Clone Wars to go!
They don’t address the water issue as I surmise that, on freighters and larger ships, there is a water recycler that takes the discharge from the refresher and produces potable water for the organic on the ship.
Yup! It's a plumber's nightmare, but on the bright side, they hardly ever malfunction... - except when the story needs it, like when you have an important Diplomat, Congresswoman or society celeb as a passenger! EnviroBloom on Kaplan makes both atmosphere- and waste processors, they are in damn near everything, and they don't cost too much. Just... when the manual says to change the filters, change the filters!! :) Incidentally, the mulch from most races' waste is a good fertilizer in on-ship aquaponics systems.
Other than the usual stuff such as spare parts, fuel, tools, & food/water. I would need a starship that’s relatively affordable & easy to service/customize. Easily serviceable for maintenance & getting parts. For customization like adding point defense systems to protect my ship from people like pirates. Medical supplies are a must, same can be said for entertainment. Also I would need an astromech & a droid like L-337. Additionally I would need a blaster/ armory on board the ship since you can’t have too many blasters.
As someone who dreams of living on a sailboat to sail the world, I loved this video lol. I would also include some way to identify edible vs toxic plants/animals as well as some hunting/fishing gear for times you're chilling on a planet away from civilization and want something a bit more fresh than ration packs lol.
Love your videos. They are really entertaining. Keep them coming. Was wondering if you can do a video on the V-21.1 Chevlex Fondor Haulcraft. Absolutely love that ship and got to see more of in in Andor season 2.
water would be easy to get, as long as you have a spacesuit and a blunt object you can stop off at a comet or dwarf planet out in an oort cloud and smash off a few chunks of ice and you can melt that into water.
I thought about mentioning ice harvesting and comparing it to the ice harvesting scene in The Expanse, but that seemed like too industrial of an operation to fit the theme of this video.
I have a full-size destroyer (Not star destroyer, those don't exist in my universe.) that I command, but in terms of my smaller ships, I generally bring food, fuel, water, lots of repair supplies, ammunition for both ship-mounted and personal weapons, enough things to sell so I hopefully can get enough money to refuel and resupply, emergency gear, an emergency shelter, and so on.
"the large ships are pretty much only used for transportation, and the smaller ships are the ones people live in" Well yeah. Compare the size of the average houseboat to the size of the average container ship. People don't need that much space to live in, but the more cargo your ship can hold, the more profit you can make.
Water recycling is likely extremely common to the point of ubiquity, so blackwater and greywater is likely reclaimed with great efficiency, but that does make me wonder what happens to the septic sludge. Maybe it can be sold or reprocessed into fertalizer or fermented into methane fuel. It is likely just lazily dumped into space, like some horrid trucker bomb congealing in the vacuum to become someone else's problem. Maybe you should pack a squeegee on your ship.

It could be interesting to take a look at how different militaries handled logistics throughout the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War as well as the administrative differences. Logistically speaking the Grand army of the Republic had very different priorities compared to the Separatist Droid hordes, likewise the Rebellion would’ve had to have much more decentralized infrastructure in their war against the Empire. And on the administrative side of things the inclusion of a recreational facility on the Mon Calamari Cruiser could point the lack of an ability for the Alliance to issue Liberty or Leave to personnel. In contrast we’ve seen both the Empire and Republic rotated troops off the front lines and on obviously recreational trips to cantinas. While not requiring sleep or the normal accommodations that organics would need Droids would still necessitate maintenance and inspection potentially demanding replacement of parts circling back to logistics. Great video, can’t wait to see more.
