Nice Video! Excuse me for butting in, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you thought about - Riddleagan Blossoming Solo Remedy (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a great exclusive product for mastering guitar scales minus the headache. Ive heard some super things about it and my work colleague finally got astronomical results with it.

Just came across your channel, newer guitar player here, 8months or so, and I've been trying to figure out how to apply scales, and after asking an instructor several times with no luck, I stopped bothering with lessons. This is exactly what i was looking for. This will give all those basic chords the flourish I've been needing on songs. Thank you.

I feel like what sets this apart from other you tube lessons is that he is very good at explaining himself, where most people just say "this is how its done" but don't either understand or explain the "why" like Sean does. Excellent!

Hey, I have been playing guitar since I was 13, I taught myself everything i know, which basically consists of me playing basic chords like, G, C, D, Dm, Bm, A, Am, E, Em... that's about it. I was looking at your channel, and you teach amazingly, but it all goes over my head, I think I'm watching your videos out of order or there is just a brick wall that I have hit with my guitar skills. I haven't been able to break it or get past just playing basic chords. I'm just trying to figure out my next step or few. Thank you.

These videos are so valuable. I learn so much more from your/Sean's videos than from any other. It helps so so much to understand guitar playing.
I have basically two questions related to this tho. I hope anyone understands them and can answer them :P. So here is what i know: This video is based on the Key of C major. Natural chords of C major are C Dm Em F G Am (Bdim). Minor counter scale of C major is A minor.
    1. Does this mean you are basically using only notes from the C Major/ A Minor sale to connect chords?
    2. Let's say I have then opened or connected to a new section where I am playing an Em chord. Can I then use all the notes from the E minor scale to add some flavor/ melody to the song or is it advisable to still only use notes from the C major scale to add flavor?
I know you can do basically anything you want in music so I am asking from a harmonic rule based standpoint.
    Thanks!!

Excellent video on connecting chords with scales, probably the best explanation of how this works and why you should do it

Sean: "So, I guess kind of think like a bass player. Actually, I take that back. Never ever think like a bass player."
Davie504: "How dare you say that! I will call the police!"
Sean: "Go ahead. They will never believe you."

I was thinking about that, since I'm a beginner and I'm teaching myself through the internet I was wondering how to find a way to make my playing more interesting, I knew how to do some things with the D, G, C,Am and a couple of other chords, but now I know what I'd been doing, THANKS MAN!! You kind of threw me in the intermediate zone, I can do bar chords just fine and I know a couple of scales and I've been playing for five months, my biggest improvements have been the last three weeks :) I'm getting a huge confidence boost at the moment thanks to you and a couple other people on youtube :)

+Raph ll That's so awesome to hear! Yeah once you have the dexterity to play bar chords, there's really nothing holding you back physically from achieving anything. Definitely keep looking into the theory and stuff behind chords and scales and you'll keep improving. Congrats on the progress! Keep it up!

Dude blew my mind. I keep thinking I'm stumbling upon new music. Turns out, we've all just been doing the same thing. Makes you wonder what people way before internet or recordings sounded like. Just individuals, segregated and isolated, being their best self.

And I don't mean to say you're not unique, @op, because I'm obviously here learning from you, my man. Love it. Music is love. Peace, shalom, assalamu alaikum and may the Force be with you.

Hey bro I am new to your Channel but I've noticed a difference in my playing ever since I've been implying your lessons. I used to shy away from knowing a little music theory and your notes on guitar but you explain things in a way that I can understand and not feel intimidated Thank you very much.

A great thing about some keys like C, G and D is that all the open strings are on the major scale of those keys, so you can hit any or all open strings as transition notes between chords

This works even better with barre chords. Also works well within a chord. Instead of changing chords you can use this same approach to connect chord tones within that chord.

I have learned so much theory...but until I found your channel, it didn't really seem to be of any use to me. You have tied together so much for me. broadened my horizons so to speak. I've thanked you in a few comments already. but I will definitely be thanking you again and again. really I can't explain how much I appreciate what you've done! And you bring laughs and smiles the whole while which is just bonus XD Your great Sean! You got a friend in me!
