Yeah, he isn't like 682, wanting to kill everyone, he's just trying to cure the pestilence. Even though he's using rather harsh methods, so is the SCP Foundation, so we can't talk bad about him.
096 is a bit like that. 343 said “He feels so bad for what he’s done he spends his whole life sobbing. Sobbing because he doesn’t WANT to hurt anyone. It’s why he tries to keep his hands covering its face. But sometimes it forgets…” The Desire Camera took a picture of it and there was just a picture of the background. He wishes he was invisible. He’s in pain because he can’t help himself, and he knows what he does is wrong. It might even be that he’s so lonely when he sees someone he wants to embrace them but he’s too strong and kills them.
I like that the Plague Doctor has a creepy version of the Mary Poppins bag. I wonder if the Doctor also has their own version of the "practically perfect in everyway" measuring tape as well.
Wonderfully cured… completely. It’s a anomalous ruler with measurements written in an unidentifiable font. It seems to warp length to read measurements completely and perfectly.
The rage state is apparently induced because of brain activity. However, 096 doesn't need to witness you having seen him as shown by photographs and videos being enough to trigger his rage state. It's possible that its brain had already begun to grow back when MTF interrupted 049 which caused him to stand up, but his "anger center" hadn't grown back yet.
Thats a cool thought, could be. More base body function sits in the hindbrain (spinal chord, pons, medulla oblongata etc) whereas emotion is higher up in the mid brain (hippocampus, amygdala, hypothalamus etc)
It could also have been that he was now conscience because well he does have a pretty large body, it was a single IV bag it, and the biology is not standard human biology so it might not have had the same Effectiveness even if it were to be the same size that is considered average for a human. And if it were to wake up at night still have the ability to you know sit up. But perhaps if you were to take some material and then put it into the nasal cavity of the Beast and then place it where is he previously removed tissue was, perhaps this could be enough to block the cells from regrowing and therefore not be able to regrow this part of the brain. If not part of the brain we could no longer be able to regrow due to lack of space then he would be cured so long as it stayed in his nose, and with some careful application of something like cement or concrete. Maybe this could be applied in the correct shape, continue to be put under anesthesia, and then because it's still wet in there if it is concrete or cement then it would be stronger due to the moisture. Concrete / cement I don't know which but if you keep it wet wild is drying and you do it proper then this additional moisture somehow makes it stronger then if you would just putting into a mold and then be done with it. But even so if you were to use something to soak up the moisture in the nasal cavity and brain area and you were to do this enough, it would have enough time to dry. You could probably do this with Clay as well. Once these materials Harden then they would be in a very rigid form and something tells me the brain doesn't have the necessary to shoot two will force this chunk through the nasal cavity. So perhaps if you give the doctor this, or maybe Dental paste would be better or whatever it's called. I'm talking about the stuff that will harden when exposed to a certain wavelength of light and is used by the mouth doctors. So you probably could see where this patient for a indefinite amount of time if the foundations were to let him do his procedures. Also the pestilence is an actual thing, it is in correlation with something that could be considered an armless but the pestilence itself technically is not, neither is how you get it, the pestilence can affect one's mind, it can butterfly effect into Very Bad Things. The pestilence is a thing that actually exist oh, but the modern conventional doctors simply can't find if they continue looking at for it the way that they did if they even bother to continue looking. I understand the plague doctors pestilence, and why couldn't they just ask him for the code to his journal, clearly she understands the language, no one's been able to crack it, and from what I've read from the entire file they did not even try asking. And this imperfect cure effective if you were to understand the way in which we do. Go ahead, join the thousands, let us go and free the good doctor.
"Cold, not cruel." I'm glad that they let SCP-049 believe that he 'cured' the creature. Sometimes we shouldn't neglect the mental wellbeing of some of the humanoid anomalies since, the Foundation is going to be holding them in custody for a very long time. I have one question for the researchers employed in Site(-REDACTED-). IF SCP-049 had seen Scp-096's face, why hadn't 096 attacked 049? It would be advantageous if SCP-049 can be convinced to study the creature and to find a permanent solution to terminate SCP-096.
well, if it's 096's brain that causes all the attacking, there's surely some sort of SCP that eats away at the brain of things, just use that on 096 and hope it eats faster than it can regenerate
There was a story on the SCP website about 049 comforting 096 while he was crying, and not being attacked. They became sort of friends, so maybe 049 isn't considered human enough to attack, or he just showed compassion and that was enough that 096 didn't want to hurt him?
Honestly that is a very interesting conclusion. I always assumed that the need to kill was a function of 096s body or soul. But if it is a matter of it's brain it could be fixable.
It does present two interesting methods of neutralization. One would be the introduction of some mind-affecting SCP to rewire 096's brain. The other would be using some kind of acid to continuously destroy 096's brain matter. I think the first method has been tried before, but don't quote me on that. The second, however, I don't think has ever been officially tried.
@@riamcade6170 Well, considering that they have managed to dissolve 096's entire body and skeleton before with the help of 173 I think that they could easily find an SCP that can penetrate his skull and they'd be able to constantly inject an acid that just dissolves soft tissue into it's skull so that it's brain no longer exists unless something goes horribly wrong, such as acid running out, or 096 eventually adapts and gains an immunity to the acid
@@EXP256 I'm not entirely immersed in thr SCP lore, is he actually? Who finally polished him off? You talking about that researcher that had 173 break it's bones and dissolved him in acid?
Correct me if I'm wrong... but did SCP-049 just come up with the perfect new containment method for SCP-096? Stick a tube up it's nose and constantly suck out any regenerating brain matter, causing it to be in a permanent status of passiveness. Maybe they should've thought of that before just tossing SCP-096 back in normal containment lol
The doctor would be needed to supply an initial sedative, which was originally done without approval, and it would be difficult to get approval for the doctor to do it again after this incident. There would be risks in their interaction since the doctor may want to perform his own experiments after gaining the necessary knowledge that the shy guy's brain regenerated after the last attempt. Also giving the shy guy a permanent full-brain lobotomy seems a bit unethical given the SCP foundation's goals. However, the anomalous sedative administered by the doctor could be deemed useful in securing the shy guy following a containment breach, so there is merit in suggesting that SCP-049 can provide assistance in the containment of SCP-096
049 might be the most oddly wholesome SCP. A mannerly and respectful doctor who's just trying to help, obviously not exactly the most safe curing methods.
In a way he's also a perfect representation of what it would be like to be a doctor during the black death. They tried to help however they could, but their methods were unsuccessful because they didn't know what they were dealing with. Obviously the real plague doctors didn't use the same methods as SCP-049, but you know what i mean.
The Pestilence might be extensive cases of anger, like the parasite that causes and is the source of pain, after one of the instances of SCP-049-1 looked at the face of SCP-096 the narrator said "Never had he seen such an extensive case of the pestilence"
or maybr it be belief, if no one believes jt exits they have it but if they do the don't, i mean i heard about a gril who used to work for him and didn't have it so maybe?
Doc should have been told about the regeneration, and subsequently been given 096 as a roommate. Pros: + Doc would have a patient to continuously cure and learn from so his knowledge could be expanded in practice + Doc would be on the foundation's good side as long as he was occupied with 096, which likely means better medical budgets Cons: - Doc could be rubbed the wrong way by a really stupid scientist or guard, which would likely let 096 have a small bit of "exercise" between procedures.
This is why you are still a level one researcher. There is no way that the foundation could risk 049 successfully altering 096. The danger caused by this and loss of studyable assets would be unacceptable.
@@appleender959 This is why you're still not even in researcher training. The foundation has a long history of using entities to neutralize other entities. This is SCP college 101.
@@murd3rtr0n What you don't understand, D class, is that there is nuance to the situations we have here. Let an uncontrollable and unguidable SCP alter another uncontrollable and unguidable one is utter foolishness. The junior researcher was also not speaking of neutralizing the 096, but letting 049 experiment with it. 049 does not simply neutralize his targets, in case you need reminded, he reanimates them to serve his purposes. Only through extensive research to ensure the success of the operation or absolute desperation to neutralize a keter or higher class threat would this be permitted. Maybe you need to be reminded of how dangerous 096 can be...I have a picture here somewhere.
I believe the pestilence is signified by how angry someone can get combined with how far their intent to kill can go. I realised this when he said that as a doctor he vowed to do no harm, and 049 apparently does not see the pestilence in other doctors (which have presumably also made this vow). This was further solidified as a point when he said that 096 has a very severe case of the pestilence.
Maybe he thinks class D personnel are all killers, or inherently violent perhaps. Maybe from first hand experience.. Could also be how D class act near him, vs doctors and scientists, which are calm, and aren't afraid.
9:23 I love that little detail of him pushing some of the medicine out of the syringe. In real life, doctors actually do that to force the air out. Edit: The term is called air embolism
The type of site have different section that depends on the type of scp and class, if the security work better on humanoid then you bet you fill it with humanoids
I think they should treat 049 more like a med student. Like, give him all of the training of a modern day brain surgeon, or even eventually all our knowledge of the human body. That way, he can focus on curing the pestilence using all of his newfound K N O W L E D G E. either that or, like a regular med student, he falls into deep depression at the stress of it all.
The thing is I don't think the pestilence actually exists. I think the "pestilence" is life. Or at least like, autonomous life or free will. Given the subjects he "cures" turns into drones.
@@Theviewerdude good theory but it doesn't make sense. The plauge doctor sees the signs of the pestilence in some people but not others. Sometimes even over the course of only a day the doctor will believe that someone he previously stated wasnt inflicted with the pestilence, suddenly became infected.
The problem is the plauge doctor has proven that while he is willing to learn he trusts his own judgement over anyone else's. In fact in this video it's mentioned he has studied with some of the best medical minds of their time. It does t seem to have affected the way he practices medicine. So while I'm sure he'd appreciate the sharing of knowledge he'd probably still rely on his own methods for curing the pestilence, especially when he believes the foundation to be woefully ignorant when it comes to the pestilence. He'd see them as well meaning but ultimately ignorant.
If the 049 has the capability to learn and study ancient practises and use them in complex surgeries, what’s stopping the foundation from letting him learn more regarding viruses, bacteria and health in general Since they locked him up for so long, we can only assume 049’s knowledge stops at around the 20th century at the max so he would be confused as to why people won’t let him cure them. He dosent know as much about medicine as the doctors of the foundation do I really want to see a 049 operating show
I mean, that is an interesting idea that he just doesnt know any better and is trying to do things the way he knows how. It might be interesting to see what would happen if people did that and what his reaction to the new information would be. I dont see why they cant allow him internet access. Its not directly harming people and you can really just ban him from speaking to people online. I'd imagine he'd easily take that offer of "You can use the internet as long as you dont interact with people online"
My theory about 049 is that he is definitely not from the the same dimension that the foundation is based in, because of this he does not understand how his actions are perceived by humans. He doesn’t understand the morals and ethics that that the human world has and is such unaware of why the foundation has him locked up. He doesn’t understand what makes a human alive he is missing the crucial part of being sapient
SCP-049 : Alas, trapped in this crude cell. I could walk the world outside, and help the folks to protect themselves of the Pestilence. But a cruel fate keeps me prisoner here, for most people doesn't understand neither the Pestilence nor the way to cure it. Foundation's scientists : So, explain it to us. SCP-049, crossing his arms : I DON'T WANNA
My favorite interpretation of the Plague Doctor would have to be that he’s not at all purposefully hostile nor that the Pestilence even exists; he’s some poor schmuck who’s been cursed with anomalous abilities that also altered his mind into believing that the harm he causes actually is beneficial. His search for the “cure” is an elaborate way of denying the harm he causes by masking it as a necessary evil in the path to medical salvation.
yeah what you describe is neurodivergents trying to tell normal people there is a better solution to a Problem, like how to adress people already present when you enter a room, he is exactly like that totally incapable to compute these information but other information we dont know even exists
Well he did technically cure 096..even if it didn't last long thanks to its regenerative abilities. Still, I'd count that as a win regardless, besides he actually managed to look 096 in the fact and lived which definitely counts as something to be proud of!
@@technoknfe3047 just about to comment something similar (laser devices that continually remove the part of 96's brain that causes the aggressive response)
If SCP-096 becomes somewhat calm with a removed brain, I wonder if you could just remove it and just fill the brain cavity with cement to prevent it from regrowing there for a safer containment.
@@ShwappaJ You might be right. The foundation should get 049 to remove the brain, afterwards since the rage center and the regeneration is gone, the foundation can finally terminate 096.
Wait a minute. 🤔 If the plague doctor was able to remove the shy guys brain through its nose, then what’s stopping the SCP researchers from removing it again, then filling in the empty cavity with liquid metal? Brain can’t regrow if there’s no room in the skull for it to grow in.
They can't subdue him I'd think. 049 could perform surgery without being torn apart, the researchers could not. Can't take his brain out if you can't interact with him
I can't even get mad at 049 for how he handles the medical field. He was based off a doctor where medicine was barely going anywhere after all. Some of his techniques were actually used
I’m pretty sure the ‘pestilence’ he speaks of is human pain itself. All the negative emotions like hate, anger, sorrow, greed, all that is what’s considered the pestilence for him. Since no human is entirely good, he sees all humans as infected.
i just realized for as long as the doctor has been alive , has he ever been thought the procedures rules and regulations of how to thoroughly document a disease and all its strains ? cause all i keep hearing is about his medical and alchemy supplies , what about a high precision microscope ? or any equipment of modern age to help show/ identify precisely what the pestilence is?
Good point though in some stories they do say he has documentation, notes and samples but no doctor or scientist who has seen it can understand do to language barries and when they ask SCP 049 is really vague
@ElysonGear Difficult is an understatement. his documents in a completely foreign language that nobody has been able to decrypt! I bet that part was a "doctor's have bad handwriting" joke.
049 really earned my respect as he often agrees to cooperate with the foundation to help contain high level SCPs in return for test subjects and only uses his touch of death only if in extreme danger like if 096 was gonna attack him
So the easiest way to contain a 096 breach would be to show 049 a picture of shyguys' face and let the doctor knock him out when he eventually arrives.
or just not look at 096 AT ALL. Why would you show 049 a picture of shyguy if shyguy wasnt breaching in the first place. Also im pretty sure scp 096 would just wake up a while later and slaughjter all the witnesses)
Okay, we really need to introduce the Plague Doctor to Ms. J. It's pretty clear by now that he is constantly seeking to improve on his practice, and he desperately needs a refresher course on medicine. SCP is being obscenely negligent in not doing so.

You know, it's weird. When I first learned about SCP-049 I found him to be a twisted depraved version of a medical professional but knowing what I know now, some small part of me actually sympathizes with him. He's educated, he knows multiple ways to "cure" his patients, and he legitimately believes in what he is doing.
If the plague doctor would have filled the cavity where the brain was with something to keep the brain from growing back then the shy guy would have stayed a vegetable
Plague Doctor is very interesting. Highly logical and practical, does have compassion. Obviously has lived a very long time. The Foundation should really make him a member of the staff.... let him further his understanding and grow. He is a reasonable individual afterall.
And also he can defend himself since he can just kill things by touching them (though whether it works on other anomalies or not depends on the anomaly)
@@spadethevelociraptor4869 I believe so. The cross test resulted in 682 swatting 049 away before the death touch could be attempted, and 049 refusing to try it again.
It really feels like the foundation should make better use of 049 I understand he can be dangerous, but he still has great skills, and is pretty smart They could definitely have him help more in the research, rather than just being a test subject
I love all these little stories about 049, he's one of my favorite SCPs since it seems like if just one or two things could be changed he could be a real force for good. If he were willing to try to learn anything about medicine beyond the Pestilence, I feel like he could be a very helpful asset. He's clearly got the mind for it, he just doesn't really get modern medicine yet. And of course find a way to keep him from killing people.
I like to think that he momentarily thought he finally found the cure to pestilence by removing the brain after touching them but after doing it to other people and animals he realized it wasn't the cure and wondered why it worked on SCP 096
As someone who is working on his bachelor's in sociology with a minor in psychology, this SCP would be the perfect person to speak to and study the mind of. He's polite, friendly, and open to conversation. As long as I don't enter his room, I could learn so much about his psyche. "He wished he studied psychology more" wait seriously? His idea of illness is free will, and he never studied how the mind works? That's a big bruh moment for the doctor lol. Honestly, I feel like if the foundation were to be smart for once and actually teach the plague doctor things about the human mind and have philosophical discussion with him on the concept of free will and the plague, they could turn him into a super surgeon and a great tool for them.
I've always wondered what/how an encounter between those 2 would look like/go. And now 049 is on the small list of beings who've seen the Shy Guy's face and lived to tell about it.
049 needs to learn something crucial which humans tend to appreciate: Consent. If he were to, at the least, adhere to that, people might even allow him to cure them, as long as he respects their boundaries and consent. If he knew how to respect consent, especially when his 'patients' would say no to being cured, he would still be able to have subjects to research, and scholars to converse with.
So wait... Did the good doctor just discover the next best containment method for 096? Simply have a set of one or two doctors constantly removing brain matter every half hour to ensure it simply does not have the brain functions to enter a rage state. If it does through increased healing then only the two doctors will be hunted for seeing his face, but if a D-class we're trained to do such then 096 could be possibly kept in a permanently docile state.
Well once 049 had him, he gave him the IV to keep him sedated, plus without a brain he won't be able to move at least for a bit, but I wouldn't take any chances
It's canon that 096 is unaffected by tranquilizer and any attempts to kill it have failed so it's probably impossible to actually make an incision to operate on it. If the foundation could cut up 096 they already would have done so. It's such a huge security risk that termination is a priority if possible. There's no canon way to know how one SCP would react to another and this video takes a lot of creative liberty there. Personally I think that either 049 would be attacked by 096 resulting in either an endless fight or one of their deaths (probably 049), or 096 wouldn't be activated by 049 and they would both be completely uninterested and just ignore each other.
@@i5m1thy After how droll and boring your little speech about "let's not have any of the scp's interact with one another and just make it a third person receptive viewing session only" was, im glad to see it's people like you that don't bother writing stories at all. Hypothesis and introspection is a higher form of intellectual discourse, after all.
I love how even though the SCP Foundation does unnecessary things to it's "property", they still have morals, as seen with the researchers agreeing to not tell SCP-049 about the fact that SCP-096 was not cured, and could regenerate, due to them not wanting to give 049 new subjects. They wanted him to remain content, so that he wouldn't turn against the researchers. It sounds almost hypocritical, but it's oddly wholesome.

I'm kinda interested to know what SCP-049 would do if he found out about the corona virus, would he try to cure it instead? Or would he try to learn more about it?
Well, before trying to cure a desease one must have a proper understanding about the desease. So it wouldn't be a surprise if SCP-049 first wants to learn more about it, just like any professional doctor does.
I’ve found a new obsession and reason to binge. These are brilliant! And the fact that this one is from the perspective of SCP-049 makes it so unique and captivating. It almost makes him feel more human or normal, showing that he has emotions and feelings. It’s incredible

An interesting thought would be that, with the brain removed, the Foundation could pour a molten metal through the nostrils and fill up the skull like a mould

049 always reminds me of a line from a will wood song: "And good news to the purists: they've discovered a cure for the symptoms of being alive It's a painless procedure with a low rate of failure But very few patients survive"
It would actually be pretty interesting to get into a conversation with the plague doctor about his research and maybe even adding theories on different ways he could bring people back from the dead like the theory of using electric currents to revive a body.
My theory is the “The Pestilence” is a zombie plague that predates SCP-008. The Plague Doctor is desperately trying to cure it, but sadly no matter how hard her tries he accidentally activates the zombie plague instead. That would explain why all of his attempts to cure humans results in humans turning into zombies.
It seems more like the Pestilence is free will/agency. The one common thread among all of his "cured patients" is that they're all lobotomized and easily commanded.
@@hiend.de8 I think that’s because the Plague Doctor is in *denial* that he failed to cure that person of the zombie virus and instead caused the person to zombify.
After all these Plague doctor videos, I feel like 049 just wants to work quietly on the Plague but keeps getting dragged in these insane aventures with the other scps ( the Lunatic, old man, peanut...)
Thanks to this addendum, I now realize that what SCP 049 meant about the plague is an emotion. It could be anger, love, scaredness, sadness, happiness, etc as you can see in his comment about the shy guy. As we can see on its cured patients(victims). A common trait about them is their zombielike characteristics that are devoid of these emotions that are the basis for us as a human.
Emotions is what makes us weak and imperfect Removing our attachments will truly make is perfect just like the legend Buddha No anger No lust No desire No Love or attachment Without these we could all be united As One No Religion No Nation No Heritage No War Just a Society devoid of Emotion and only our drive to Survive and overcome everything We are given a gift of Awareness and Intellect we cannot waste it

Maybe after removing the brain fill the empty space with something to prevent it from growing back?
I feel like to a doctor, a sobbing mess on the floor is something that needs help
Scp-049 touched scp-096 before 096 could attack rendering it unconscious

They can't

you know the brain isn't just exposed through nasal cavity? you still need to break through bone
999 is also wholesome but also, this is one of the reasons 049 is my favorite SCP. His intentions to help people just surprises me.
In a way he's also a perfect representation of what it would be like to be a doctor during the black death.

Pros:
+ Doc would have a patient to continuously cure and learn from so his knowledge could be expanded in practice
+ Doc would be on the foundation's good side as long as he was occupied with 096, which likely means better medical budgets
Cons:
- Doc could be rubbed the wrong way by a really stupid scientist or guard, which would likely let 096 have a small bit of "exercise" between procedures.
nah the doc would never let his patient suffer between curings
This is why you are still a level one researcher. There is no way that the foundation could risk 049 successfully altering 096. The danger caused by this and loss of studyable assets would be unacceptable.
@@appleender959 This is why you're still not even in researcher training. The foundation has a long history of using entities to neutralize other entities. This is SCP college 101.
@@murd3rtr0n What you don't understand, D class, is that there is nuance to the situations we have here. Let an uncontrollable and unguidable SCP alter another uncontrollable and unguidable one is utter foolishness. Maybe you need to be reminded of how dangerous 096 can be...I have a picture here somewhere.
@@appleender959 Alright kids break it up.
Interesting theory
Maybe he thinks class D personnel are all killers, or inherently violent perhaps. Maybe from first hand experience.. Could also be how D class act near him, vs doctors and scientists, which are calm, and aren't afraid.
Yep. This video got me thinking that as well... that maybe pestilence is intent to kill.
That theory matched what 49 said when shown SCP-682: 'Never have I seen a more malignant case of the Pestilence!'

either that or, like a regular med student, he falls into deep depression at the stress of it all.
if he's allowed to go at his own pace he might not get depressed
The thing is I don't think the pestilence actually exists. I think the "pestilence" is life. Or at least like, autonomous life or free will. Given the subjects he "cures" turns into drones.
@@Theviewerdude that wouldn't explain the people that he finds _don't_ have the pestilence, because it's not everyone.
If the 049 has the capability to learn and study ancient practises and use them in complex surgeries, what’s stopping the foundation from letting him learn more regarding viruses, bacteria and health in general
Since they locked him up for so long, we can only assume 049’s knowledge stops at around the 20th century at the max so he would be confused as to why people won’t let him cure them. He dosent know as much about medicine as the doctors of the foundation do

I guess they tried that at first but after he touched and killed so many people they gave up on that.
I'd laugh if it turns out that modern medicine in his hands, even when practiced perfectly, just lets him turn people into zombies way faster.
I like to think that he momentarily thought he finally found the cure to pestilence by removing the brain after touching them but after doing it to other people and animals he realized it wasn't the cure and wondered why it worked on SCP 096
1:06 nice reference of the old scp 049 design
Got those degrees. Regret them.
Someone said that he rejects modern medicine but maybe if he was convinced....
I've always wondered what/how an encounter between those 2 would look like/go. And now 049 is on the small list of beings who've seen the Shy Guy's face and lived to tell about it.
SCP-049 : why don't they just understand me?
Also 049 when the researchers try to ask him what he's exactly curing: *PESTILENCE*
049 believes pestilence is a common knowledge
What, you don't know about the Pestilence? That's kinda cringe. Everybody knows about it
049 would generally be one of the more pleasant scp's to chat or sit a table's length distance adjacent from and view their work
049 needs to learn something crucial which humans tend to appreciate: Consent.
You'll need 049s help. The only reason he was able get the brain in the first place is because his touch rendered 096 unconscious.
Well once 049 had him, he gave him the IV to keep him sedated, plus without a brain he won't be able to move at least for a bit, but I wouldn't take any chances
Maybe some sort of device that constantly destroys its brain?

I’ve found a new obsession and reason to binge. These are brilliant! And the fact that this one is from the perspective of SCP-049 makes it so unique and captivating. It almost makes him feel more human or normal, showing that he has emotions and feelings. It’s incredible
If by "cured of the pestilence" you mean " stole his brain" then sure.
Yea
i feel like 049 is just chill like i would let him free if he dont kill me me and him can be homies any day
So technically, it is possible to render SCP-096 completely "cured"- it just requires you to fill its cranial cavity with cement after extracting its brain
I wonder why God won't send him to another planet where he cannot be seen by anyone

These plague doctor POV videos are great! He’s quickly becoming a major supporting character of the channel! Along with the nice researcher (black hair bearded labcoat man) and site director (olive skin black hair suit guy)
You mean 049

Just wanna say thanks for these videos. Found myself in a rough patch currently but it’s nice to be able to zone out and watch these in my evenings before sleep, really calms me!
Keep up the work.
Scp-049 probably deserves an apology and an award for neutralizing scp-096
049 is my favorite person in the scp foundation, and earth possibly.

He draws a heart saying:
"It's okay, i am your friend =)"
I had read somewhere that the plague refers to the human free will. That's why his "patients" got reanimated as mindless zombies.
I thought the pestilence referred to life hence why all his patients are undead and the nature of the entire touch of death thing. In the first place he possesses freewill himself so it would be strange to not attempt to cure himself.
@@buddhagoddevil6270 but he doesn't see the pestilence in everyone
I heard that he aknowledges that them being zombies isnt ideal but he can only recover their bodies not their soul or essense since it always seems to refuse his efforts.
Maybe humans just arent supposed to be inmortal so no matter how hard he tries its just not his call to make
@@aidonpor8211 Yeah I just went and watched an older video and realized how far off I was. It honestly never occurred to me that he didn't very everyone as infected, which in retrospect should have obvious.
Maybe it is having a brain?
With this in mind, couldn't they stick a small explosive device into his head and any time he try'd to escape, they could activate it or have it so when he passes a certian thresh hold it automatically sets off?
that’s a pretty good idea
Yeah, but what happens when the brain regrows and he starts hunting the last guy he never got to kill? It would be an endless loop.
Would that damage the facility?
An interesting thought would be that, with the brain removed, the Foundation could pour a molten metal through the nostrils and fill up the skull like a mould
Well normally 096 would not need a brain to operate at all, he's been completely incinerated down to only his skeleton before but it doesn't stop him. Here I guess you could just say maybe he needed a new brain because 049 disabled his old one? Idk
3:50 First animation glitch I've seen in a while
Huh yea

I barely read the story of The Plague Doctor, and oh my god did I absolutely love it. I’ve always liked scps, but never really read anything on them. But the one time I do, I’m reading for hours on how different scps interact and what they do. If you have listened to the interviews with him it’s the coolest thing ever listening to him!
If only they let the Doctor finish his work. It's another moment where the Foundation had a solution to a Keter class problem, and they screw it up. 😠
I feel bad for 049. Regardless that his cure is essentially brain death for his patient, he still wants to help.
Hunter's Plague Doctor is one of my favorite voices of his, and my favorite rendering of the character.

Psychology for dummies got me dying 😂😂😂
Scp 049 seems like a nice guy, he’s just a little bit confused
049 always reminds me of a line from a will wood song:
"And good news to the purists: they've discovered a cure for the symptoms of being alive
It's a painless procedure with a low rate of failure
But very few patients survive"
Ha
"049 is behaved and formative."

It would actually be pretty interesting to get into a conversation with the plague doctor about his research and maybe even adding theories on different ways he could bring people back from the dead like the theory of using electric currents to revive a body.
I got so hyped when SCP-096 was completely docile, good thing the Foundation didn't tell 049 that it's brain grew back.
Scp 049 is such a nice but dangerous scp

i love how SCP-049 is really a good person trying to cure a disease
Logically, 049 would pass medical school with a full degree.
6:05 "guess I'll die"
My theory is the “The Pestilence” is a zombie plague that predates SCP-008. The Plague Doctor is desperately trying to cure it, but sadly no matter how hard her tries he accidentally activates the zombie plague instead. That would explain why all of his attempts to cure humans results in humans turning into zombies.
Then why does he say that "they are cured!" When they come back to life?
Maybe he views what we see as Life as "The Pestilence", as we all die one day. Maybe the zombified forms would allow them to "live" longer
It seems more like the Pestilence is free will/agency. The one common thread among all of his "cured patients" is that they're all lobotomized and easily commanded.
I think the pestilence is pain.
@@hiend.de8 I think that’s because the Plague Doctor is in *denial* that he failed to cure that person of the zombie virus and instead caused the person to zombify.
The plague doctor is pretty nice, as long as you can get rid of the pestilence from all, he could probably be a great friend
Has anyone written a story where someone actually took the time to befriend SCP 049? It's character is fascinating and quite charming 😃.
Scp 049 seems like a nice guy who actually wants to help not hurt
049 and 096: actually get crosstested in one file and have a really wholesome interaction
Scp explained: I pretend i do not see
After all these Plague doctor videos, I feel like 049 just wants to work quietly on the Plague but keeps getting dragged in these insane aventures with the other scps ( the Lunatic, old man, peanut...)

i find the doctor to be kinda nice he seems to have good manners and sounds like he genuinely cares about people.

Emotions is what makes us weak and imperfect
Removing our attachments will truly make is perfect just like the legend Buddha
No anger
No lust
No desire
No Love or attachment
Without these we could all be united
As One
No Religion
No Nation
No Heritage
No War
Just a Society devoid of Emotion and only our drive to Survive and overcome everything
We are given a gift of Awareness and Intellect we cannot waste it
049 seems like the guy who would do something completely evil and think he’s doing god’s work
