    Excellent video. Not many Serge system breakdowns on youtube.

    This is just great. I want to build some Serge modules and this just spurred me on to make it happen. That filter… 🥰

      Yes indeed that filter !

      Could you recommend any online companies/stores to purchase panels and pcbs? I’m in uk, which complicates things… I’m willing to purchase from overseas obvs. Thanks 🙏🏼

      @@bendickson3486i bought those directly from Random*Source wich seems to be the most easy way to do it.

    Building a serge system and a paper face is definitely on my list 😂. Im still filling up a Pittsburgh structure case but when thats done Ive been so tempted by serge systems.

    so cool! I would love to own a 4u system like this one day!

    This is absolutely fantastic, and I would like to thank you for sharing such a great breakdown of this mighty combo. Clean production, very sympathetic presentation, and a great (musical!) introduction for people interested in the arcane world of Serge (also inspiring for seasoned Serge-ists, too). Bravo! The only small point of criticism I would like to express is the thumbnail of the video. As tempting as it is to call the Mantra / TKB combination a Serge Easel, I see major differences in the details & philosophies of these two lovely set ups. While the Buchla Music Easel is first and foremost a live performance instrument (with its layout dedicated to the idea of quick manipulations during live sessions = playability), the Serge is much more a chemist's lab kit, endless possibilities, but the micro-patching of various functions would drive me mad during live performances. E.g. (no pun intended), the availability of random CVs: With the Mantra, you have to apply a lot of patch cables, Don Buchla included four different (well, sequential) CV outputs on the modules surface. But this is just me & my opinion, and my ramblings shouldn't distract from your great video. A final question, just because I'm curious: Your accent sounds French, and since I absolutely love the Vendée, I'd like to know where you are (roughly) from. Synth meet-up at the Bois de la Chase to jam out? Absolument!

      Thanks! I see your point about the Easel thing, but the reference is more about the interface for me here, a sound module and a "keyboard" / sequencer. And about my French I come from les Alpes de Haute Provence ;-)

    Would be nice of you to make a dedicated video on the P&T audio range stuff a la complex vco, as it gets messy pretty fast in this one, which is nice as well heh!
    Thanks for keeping it up!

    This is a fantastic video, thank you for going in depth, am sold :) may I ask about the bananas going into what seems to be the light reverb? Is it for ground? Can you explain whats going on there in terms of connections, and also how you have connected it to your osciloscope (what model is it?). 🙏🏽

    • @Stazma
      @Stazma  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Actually the banana you see is going to the power supply, that’s hidden below the Light Pedal hahaha. And yes indeed it’s for ground, also going to the TKB internal power.
      For the oscilloscope I’m converting a banana to mini jack and use a wire tap by threetom modular on the input.

      Btw… would you pick the Mantra/TKB combo over an Easel or a 6U Verbos system?

    • @Stazma
      @Stazma  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nikargaProbably the Serge, mostly for the TKB and VCFQ.

    this may be a silly question, but is there a way to fit these panels in a buchla music easel or similar type case?

    • @Stazma
      @Stazma  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Probably as these are the same size as Buchla. Todd Barton had a system with a Serge panel and Buchla touch keyboard at some point.

    Any idea how the 3U variable bandwidth VCF compares to the VCF on this ? Amazing sounds

    • @Stazma
      @Stazma  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 3U filter are almost indentical to the 4U ones, I had the VCFS in euro for a short time (a while back) and it's very different from this one, i'd say much less "liquid", and it's less good for the "ping" thing. But it does some awesome sounds of it's own, it can be very organic and moving when you modulate the slopes and frequency at the same time.
