    great video, after watching I feel way more confident on changing the oil myself on my 2020 GMC 2500HD

    Thanks for the video! I just bought a 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 6.6L LML Duramax with 144,000 miles on it. This is my 1st diesel I've ever owned. I bought the truck from a chevy dealer and they had changed the oil, transmission fluid and filter, cooling system flush and fill and the DOT break fluid flush n fill. I'll change the T-Case and diffs in the spring. It's cold as heck in Minnesota right now.
    When l do my 1st oil change I'll use Rotella T6 and a wix oil filter. I'm also going to install a aftermarket drain plug with a more powerful magnet attached to the plug to help pull bits of magnet partials out of the oil that way.

    Thank you for the video. I've done all my own oil changes with every vehicle except my duramax. I got 10 oil changes free with my purchase of it, so I've been letting the dealership do it for me. That has run out so I'm getting ready to do my first one and this shows that it's as easy as any other vehicle I've done.

      awesome, glad it was helpful for you and good luck with change, it is very similar to all vehicles, just bigger filter and lots more oil. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to share your experience in the comments. Cheers

      @@EscapePowerSports I thought of you getting my filter off! I'm not sure how they got it on so tight! I broke a strap wrench fighting with it. That realistically took the most time of the whole job.

      Agreed 100%. I was worried that the diesel was going to be somehow more complicated, but nope - thank u!

    Great video. A lot of the video was redundant for me, but the video was still very enjoyable to watch. Enjoyable commentary and good camera angles.

    so as a mechanic myself i will say ty for the video and going from 15w-40 to 5w-40 was a dern good idea depending on where youre located temp wise. however once going to synthetic youre not supposed to go back to conventional as the seals have swollen slightly and can blow them out along with other issues it can cause.

    Good instructional video. I would recommend replacing the stock oil pan & replacing with a PPE deep oil pan. You are able to actually fully drain all of the old nasty oil from the truck. The stock oil pan has a pocket in it the doesnt allow complete drainage, can hold up to 1 quart of old oil. Just my 2 cents.

    • @EscapePowerSports
      @EscapePowerSports  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      that's good to know, I knew that it doesn't drain in its entirety but had no idea the stock pan alone could hold up to a quart. Will do some looking into the PPE pan and see if its something I'd like to do. Thanks for watching and sharing helpful tips and info in the comments. The more informative comments these vids get the more we all get to learn so thanks for watching and sharing, Cheers

      @@Blue_Collar_Hunter I was looking for solutions to completely draining the remaining oil out of the valley on the stock oil pan. I see another person mentioned you changing out your stock oil pan. I think that's probably the only solution. Did you replace your oil pan? I think I may do that....just don't know how involved it is? Thanks for the video

    • @Blue_Collar_Hunter
      @Blue_Collar_Hunter 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kennyc1032 yes I took of the stock oil pan & replaced with a PPE deep oil pan. I don’t like the idea of not being able to fully drain old oil. When you remove the stock oil pan you will see that it’s a terrible design. Why would anyone want any old oil to remain running through their motor.

    • @kennyc1032
      @kennyc1032 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Blue_Collar_Hunter thanks for getting back so quickly! I see the PPE pan is 380 bucks. Which isn't horrible seeing how the oil changes cost over a hundred bucks. Did u happen to make a video of the pan replacement?

So yes I wouldn't rule out transmission or differential services in the future of this Silverado playlist, once I get a little more experience and comfortable enough with those jobs to talk about them. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment with video suggestions, will definitely add them to my list. Cheers

    Well done video. Like how you include life of leisure your companion friend
    Question
    Doing a oil change about 7500 miles
    Found out oil plug is super tight but managed to break loose with breaker bar
    Geez
    Then went to filter and it too is super tight.
    Tried 2 different oil filter wrenches. End cap type and slide over band type
    Can’t break it loose
    Motor is Luke warm
    Any thoughts? Thanks

    • @EscapePowerSports

      I find the biggest loop type of oil filter wrench to get the most torque if the filter and loop are clean. I've heard of guys driving a flathead through the filter to turn it, but that seems a bit sketchy as you'll have to find a way to get it off once the filter is punctured and draining oil. Hope this helps and the first one is always the hardest. Thanks for watching and taking the time to share your experience and a good question in the comments. Cheers
