Escape the past? It would be like you have a time machine and Guavs is the guy who instructs you to do the stuff. You get into the time machine with Guavs and you come to a time when there is no technology and then the time machine somehow breaks and you need to retrieve the stuff by finishing the levels and when you reach the end you need to collect the items and fix the time machine then teleport back to the present.
