Before looks way better.
Thats what I was thinking lol
So the cinema mod basically just takes out the colours of the game and makes it darker ?? Why doing this ? Anyway great tut, i followed every spep and got my game to run.
Great video as always, I used Mass Effect with the options you had on your first video and I can't wait to try this.
Thanks, this ones a little more difficult than the original Mass Effect guide but I think it comes out better in the end.
I just wanted to thank you for your hard work I know it ain't make these video's. Know it's people like you that makes the world a better place.
THANK YOU!!!
The game looks amazing now. For some time I wasn't able to get into ME2 again just because certain graphical issues annoyed me and this video helped me fix all of them! THANK YOU!
In the first game, there is a console command were you can turn any enemy into an ally, can you some how do that? For example: a heavy mech?
Can you tweak the graphics and use the SweetFX and ENB simultaneously?
I dont have any of those INI's in the config folder, only DefaultEngine and Coalesced, am I missing something?
so this works with origin?
Okay, did it, everything runs smooth but I have an error maybe for the ini tweaks and is that I cant interact with objects pressin space bar or any other asigned key for run/use...
I want to mod but just nervous about doing it
I didn't notice that some textures should not be installed. And now I have a weird looking texture for Sheppard's head. Is there any way to uninstall certain mods?
MrKennyBones If you didn't manually backup, you will have to reinstall. ME Explorer modifies the game files I believe.
+MrKennyBones : congratulation ! you need to re install your game (well the dossier with the textures..).
But as always, you need to make a backup of your game... tweaking video games are sometimes a pain in the ***
ME3 3.0 is out can you update your guide. its really outdatted.
For Textures (in .tpf format) from downloading from MediaFire all i get is it telling me I need to upgrade any ideal
Apollo Hughes You have to download each file individually which is pretty annoying. Some others have suggested Jdownloader 94.23.204.158/JDownloader.zip to speed this up.
DAKNAP I see thanks
i cant find the minshadow, max shadow etc in gamersettings.ini in the bioware documents, i can only find them in steamapps/mass effect 2/biogame/config/pc/cooked and there is a ini file called "coalesced" but if i change the maxshadows etc in that ini file my game will crash help me plz :(
Darzo - Editor It should definitely be under the user directory. Make sure you have started the game so that it is generated. You can try placing this into the windows start find box to find it.
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 2\BIOGame\Config\
or by searching for gamersettings.ini across your pc.
Almost half of the individual character tpf files don't load
wingy158 You might want to try the ME2 tpfs from here. forum.bioware.com/topic/380804-jean-lucs-high-res-textures-trilogy-edition/
I tried those. Grunt, Samara, Mordin and Miranda are not loading. Everything else loads one or two. And some other ones read invalid.
Have a question not graphically related.
How do I mod DLC Bioweapon.INI file, Everything I try makes the DLC become unauthroized upon start up and attempting to connect the Cerberus Network.
From what I can find, You can't edit the bioweapon.ini file in the dlc folder. You will need to restore it from a backup to fix it or reinstall. The suggested way seems be using a coalesced editor to change the bioweapon.ini. There is a tool here to do it. social.bioware.com/project/1854/
You can get the DLC directly from Origin now, by buying bioware points on Origin beforehand.
Anyone here know how to put .ogg's back into the game I extracted from their .afc files? Rick (aka Gibbed) only made an extractor.
Your mediafire link to the .tpf texture files won't let us download the folder/files unless we have a mediafire subscription. I've had to use a download tool called JDownloader just to get files and it's downloading them at
The folder isn't maintained by me. I have now included a link to the original poster on the me3explorer forums. I had the same problem when downloading the complete set from this folder and the only thing I can suggest is selecting the downloads you want the most or going to the original links on that post.
DAKNAP Thanks man, I appreciate you adding that link so quickly. I'm literally just installing the texture mods now so fingers crossed the game will look sexy very soon :)
I think the 1.0 ME Cinema is dead. Only 1.2 and 0.5 are downloadable. Should I just not use it?
DevelopmentUnreal It seem its been changed to a sweetfx only version. I've updated the links but it will take some time for me to test it on 1.2.
mass effect 2 pc awc.dll load failed
Thank you so much, for your usefull guide, finally i'm able to mod mass effect 2 and play it with a decent gaming pc ;)
also how do you remove a tex mod that was installed with texplorer?
I don't know if it is possible. I usually swap in a backup of the me3 directory and try again. the me explorer forums might have more info.

How do you download the dlc files from the bioware site (that is paid for ) after pretty much everything is done except dlc how to install that stuff what to do
The section from 4:50 should explain it. You basically go to bioware social, login with your origin account then if you need to buy the dlc go to the top bar and hover over games then mass effect 2 then official dlc. Clicking buy now will take you throught the purchase process. To download after that go to the left side of the screen and hover over my games then select Your registered game content. All of your dlc will appear here where you can choose the download option next to it and install using the exe you download. Hope this helps.
DAKNAP indeed it did thank you friend
Everything runs smooth until I try the ME2 Explorer. About 2/3 of the way through the initial scan, it's interrupted by an error message: "An error occurred while scanning your files: Attempted to read past the end of the stream."
I know just enough about modding to get myself into trouble, but do you have any suggestions? Getting frustrated after hours of attempts!
Thanks for your video - I'm looking forward to the finished experience!
I think I had similar problems recently with the same error. Strangely for me they disappeared without me finding the cause. There are only a few methods you could try but they are guesses.
First make sure your .net framework is up to date and you are running me2explorer as administrator. Then if the scan still has issues you may have to completely delete your ME2 game folder and the MEExplorer folder. Reinstall, patch to latest version, run then try the scan again.
I would also suggest using the latest SVN build of ME Explorer but it seems to be down at the moment.
First of all, great video! Second of all, I'm tearing my hair over this and I'm hoping you might have a suggestion for me. Following your instructions as closely as humanly possible, I not only can't seem to successfully scan for all textures (it found *a few* with Garrus and Legion, and a grand, round 0 with every other char), but when I try to at least get Garrus, ME2Explorer throws an error in my face, saying the texture has no mipmaps.
I have no idea what I'm doing, but if it's supposed to be as simple as portrayed in your video, then I have no idea what I'm doing *wrong*. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
Unfortunately, me explorer does have some issues that I've run into myself as well. It can seem really random. The best I can suggest is make sure your .net is up to date. Run as administrator. If that doesn't work. Reinstall ME2, patch, run etc. Then try again.
DAKNAP Yeah, I scanned through what other people have said here, so I already went through all that as well. However, I'm not on my third attempt with clean install of just about everything, and I'm finally noticing something peculiar that *might* have something to do with this - When the tree file is first created, is it supposed to say "File scanning finished. Tree file saved. Reloading..." ? It's not doing anything anymore, but I do have to wonder just what exactly is it reloading...
In either case, thanks!
JsVengeance I had the same issue as you did because the .tpf files in the original thread that was posted as an alternative to the mediafire folder are the issue. You can use JDownloader to download the entire mediafire folder and use those .tpf files instead (It worked for me).
JsVengeance I think I found the solution. I noticed that the first 64 mods was completed successfully. But the 65th failed. So I tried to choose the "Rune some" and select the next 64 mods. Which was successfull! So it seems it doesn't like to install more than 64 at a time.
MrKennyBones Thank you! I'll be sure to try that on my next playthrough. :)
Very good, will you do Mass Effect 3 next?
Probably within the the next 2 weeks, I think ME3 is pretty much the same as ME2 for some of the mods so it might take less time.
Ok thank you
Where i download ME2 Explorer?
Its the same one just have to adjust settings.
ty
Your ME3 tutorial worked like a charm, but I having problem modding ME2.I did everything exactly as in the video but the textures didn't change and all the character eyes texture were messed up.I uninstalled the game and installed it again and it got fixed but I really want the HD textures.
Yeah lots of people seem to be having issues with me2explorer. If you have tried using the fixed tpfs from the mediafire folder and it still has problems then you can try using texmod instead. Here is the info from another comment:
If you want to just have ME2 working with the textures, try texmod.
www.fileplanet.com/205418/download/Texmod-v0.9b
Point it at your ME2 exe under binaries. Then load all the .tpf files you would like into the list before running.
Improving?? It looks 100% better in the "before" footage.
+REMlNGTON Textures are miles better modded. The "cinematic" shader preset is trash though.
Good to know. Perhaps I can change the shader. Thanks!
top man thanks for this.
my INI doesnt look like that at all.. mine is almost not filled out..

is all I have... help?
If that is all you have, make sure to start the game and let it configure. Or delete the ini and start the game.
If all else fails just try adding the additonal lines yourself to the ini, they should work just the same.
it didnt work can you maybe take a copy of your ini and let me have that? cause nothing i do changes it nor works :(
Thanks!
¿it works whit a cracked version?
Modding this game is so complicated it isnt even worth the hassle.
Dude right? I just wanted a hair mod, and i've watched like two hours of youtube videos.
Green Soviet I feel your pain, and when you get one working another mod you want is likely to give you half as many problems
Green Soviet I figured out the hair mods, not too bad for me. However every single time I download ALOT Texture Pack I get this fucking bug where all of the misc npcs at the beginning of the game have red eyes, thinking it did that to my whole game i re installed 3 times. On my last attempt with this shit before I completely wipe all the mods for good one last time. I hate modding this game..
Damn, hopefully you figure it out. I still gotta figure out the simple shit

this is all i have in my gamersettings ini. pls help
+zack soares if in doubt, delete the gamersettings.ini and start mass effect to recreate it. If some of the variables above aren't there, just add them in under the correct sections.
+DAKNAP i ended up just changing those settings in coalesced.ini file with notepad++ and using ME2ini fixer to allow me to run the game after altering the settings. I did try what you suggested but it didnt work, thanks for the quick response!
