@@StayConnectedEV my next one I will order from you because I already ordered mine months and months ago and yes I do enjoy your comments one question I would like to ask is how many watts do you get peak wants on yours
I absolutely love my step-over Dual Star. It's quick and climbs with like a champ. I've heard about the "Death wobble." However, ANY person that rides their bike without their hands on the handlebars could have this problem. It doesn't matter if it's Ecell's or Wired....or any bike for that matter. I've had my bike up to 41.4 on the GPS. I used full power with PAS 5. Full unlock. I usually cruise around 20 to 25mph and I feel safe. My bike is also red with black rims. The options I chose were the "Dual Star option", top bag, panniers, torque sensor, Tannus liners, rear RockShox, and the smart air-pump. After I put the bike together, I put "Flat Out" in the tires. I purchased a Lumos "Smart helmet", a Tribit Stormbox Micro 2 Wireless Portable Speaker, Redshift Arclight Pro Flat Bicycle Pedals with rechargeable LED light sticks, a Cloud 9 seat, extra tools that will be stored in the panniers, 2 extra tubes, an alarm, a bell, and Sabre Red Cyclist Pepper Spray with Adjustable Bike Strap. I also purchased a "Quad Lock" phone mount. It's expensive, but WELL worth the quality. The phone will not come off no matter where and how I ride the bike. I had 3 issues with my bike after the first ride. My display and power would shut off. I would start it back off and it would turn off again. The second problem was the front rotor was bent. I took it to a local bike shop, and he put my bike on the rack. He was going to fix the rotor with the alignment tool but told me to get another one because the bike is new and under warranty. The third problem was the front brakes had air in the line and had to be re-bled. I called Ecell's right when I got home. I live 2 hours away from Ecell's. They overnighted my new display, front rotor, and new brake pads. I feel that Ecell's has excellent customer service. My bike runs like a champ. It is so much fun. I get looks all the time from people. I would definitely recommend an Ecell's bike. If you are patient with the wait time, it'll be worth it in the end. I did not get in on a list. My technique I chose was to take advantage of the people that cancelled their order on a custom bike. Mary at Ecell's knew exactly what I wanted and told me if they had a cancelled order with the exact spec's that I wanted, she would give me a call. I had my custom bike the way that I wanted within a week! The last thing I need/want to get is a dropper post with an external cable. Thanks for the great review and have fun with your Step Star.
Enjoyed your viewpoints on the Step Star and comparing a little bit of it to the Velotric Discover 2. I had an opportunity to try a few of the Ecells bikes at the Electric Expo in Alameda, CA in August. I spoke to Dave and Gator and enjoyed their company and the bikes that I rode. A few issues I would like to address. A few are more personal than would maybe benefit the general public. The Step-Star specifically is only offered in frame size 16" and is for riders up to 6'2" tall whereas the Veloctric Discover 2 has a large size up to 6'4" and Ecells offers their 5 Star in 19" ( I'm almost 6'5"). Maybe I would fit just fine on the Step-star with a longer than normal seat stem, just something I noticed on their website which can be an issue for us taller riders. Sure I could maybe go with the 5 Star or Dual Star, but I feel much safer with a Stepstar getting on and off, especially since I plan on having a basket on the rear so don't think I could swing my leg over that lol 😮. Another thing that the Veloctric Discover 2 has that is nice is the ability to switch from Torque/Cadence sensor. I can't stand ghost pedaling so I'm a little hesitant with a cadence sensor that the Step Thru has. Now comes to customer service During Ecells Labor Day sale I emailed and called them a few times with some questions. Namely how do I add getting a torque sensor with their bikes because they used to list the options on their website. They never replied. They have good looking maintenance and set up videos on their website, but on to my next point. I have never contacted Veloctric with any questions so I cannot speak to their customer service. But...Veloctric had many dealerships if I thought about going with them. Companies such as Ecells or their main competitor you don't have that option which is a concern if you are not mechanically savy and consider an achievement if you can change a tire on a regular bike let alone the giant tires on these ebikes. I have to get rid of old bikes and E scooter before I'd have room for one of these regardless ha, ha. Regardless glad to see video of the Step Star since there are few.
Wow thank you so much for your insight!! You bring up some very valid points to be honest and sharing them were very helpful to me and Im sure to other people too!! Thank you

Love the fact that it’s a 24 inch tire! Makes it easier to get on and off of than vs a 26. Wish it had the extra power (and top speed) of the wired cruiser, the thru axle and 500 bucks less 😔
You’ve pretty much convinced me. My question now is buying the extra battery. I weight 295 and am 6’5”. So I’m thinking I may want that extra battery. I will not do off road; just road, paved trails etc. do you think I’m thinking right?
The blue one looks awesome, I really like those double wall gold rims. I really need to get back to step through bikes. I hope all manufacturers cure the wobble in the 26 inch bikes.

Wow, I was just looking at the specs on this bike, I’ll tell you Dave, really knows how to put the bike together with the right components 203 Techno quad piston brakes, 11/34 gearing with a 56T chainring. He must actually ride his bikes. He has my respect I just wish he’d give me some 😂 Strange, you have to put the derailer protector on you would think they’d want it on there to protect it in the box. Also his bike needs directionals front and rear. Than that would be the best bike out there for the money. Another great review DAVE ❤

I requested the $100 at 85 days. NOPE . No response. The stipulation also said I would get $200, in addition to my refund, if I preferred to cancel. I cancelled at 95 days. NOPE! No $200! How did you get your bike so quickly I wonder?..Oh that's right, you know David Cleveland personally. I guess THAT makes a difference in customer service.
Damn thats crazy, I ordered Wired cruiser which is basically the better version of the bike in the video and it shipped next day and we had it 3 days later by ups. Can't imagine waiting almost 100 days.
I ordered my five star on a Sunday the first part of June 2024 have it that same week on Wednesday. I did call them on Monday to confirm that my order went through and at that time asked them what colors they had immediately available and pick one that was available.
You are a good salesman for E-cells. However these bikes could not be farther apart for comparison. The Veltronic is much lighter in weight and easier to maneuver around town and easier to transport for vacation purposes. The E-cells is geared for older folks (like myself and you) with the ease of pedaling or just use the twist throttle (particularly for initial takeoff). Where as the E-cells is more akin to the Wired customer (me) which is heavy and more of a bike for straight line acceleration and on road use. Don't get me wrong, the heavy cruisers have their place, but storing them in narrow spaces and getting them out of a stored space is really a bear. You can forget pedaling these bikes without assist mode as they are just too heavy. I was a motorcycle rider (gave that up because of cell phone soccer moms and Tahoes) and I sort of aged out of that. My Wired bike has been plagued with problems and this bike "looks" so much like that one. Same display and motors and that gives me pause on my purchase of another bike of this ilk. I know you said customer service is great, but no bike shop will touch them so you are on your own with a tool kit if it has any kind of fault. Maybe if I can get rid of my bike, I will get a 20" wheel bike or 24" but the 26" is just too big for me. I am 6ft tall and about 250lbs. Perhaps a moped style like a G.O.A.T V3 or whatever their current iteration is. I know I would look like a bear on a small bike (from a circus act) on that bike. I am just an unhappy customer with bike and service issues. Customer service on the phone has not been satisfactory, but unless you are proficient at twisting a wrench phone instructions can only help so much. Perhaps if I had gotten this bike, I would not have had these problems (I don’t know). As I am nearing the end of my warranty period (November 24), I have regrets with my Wired cruiser. So I will probably go in a different direction altogether. Just my two cents.
Not a salesman for Ecells. I’m showing the differences and quite honestly the wobble on Velotric is significant. One reason is the thickness of the aluminum used.
Spot on, Paul! And I know you said you are looking for something different for your next bike but just FYI: The Ecells Step Star IS a 24" bike, according to their website.

@@StayConnectedEV Ecell's website only shows a 24" bike in the Step Star model. No option for anything else at the current time. If you look at your tires you will see that you have a 24" bike. It's right there on camera 5 seconds into your video.
No not ripping off wired a matter of fact they have the step through planned before that they took a lot longer to finish it because they wanted it done right just like they did not rip off all-wheel drive from wired and they did not rip off dual batteries with the one in the one in the rack just like the suspension on the back they did not rip off that idea of having it supported stronger a matter of fact wired duplicated that
Dude compares a mass produced ebike from a massive ebike brand to an ebike from a relatively unheard of brand that you have to prepay & wait up to 3-4 months to receive! Ecells can't afford to pay their manufacturer to build a shipping containers worth of bikes. So, whenever someone purchases one of their ebikes, they spend a portion of the proceeds from that purchase to pay their Chinese manufacturer to build that bike. Whenever they've sold enough ebikes to fill & afford an entire shipping container load of ebikes, then they pay their manufacturer to fulfill such an order, and then the manufacturer builds the bikes and ships the container. That's just how it works whenever you're a small ebike company! That's also why es and wired ebikes are two of the very frmew ebike companies that sell ebikes that have motors which push more than the usual 750w! Because big ebike brands can't get away with that sh*t! They have to abide by the regulations of all 50 states because they wouldn't want to lose out on the millions of potentially lost revenue dollars if one of their ebikes motors was considered illegal and therefore unable to be sold, even if just in a single US state.
Totally agree...he just picked a commuter bike from a totally different class/category to compare to. Good insight on how the ordering process works...thanks for that info. What do you think of the new Biktrix Rogue Hawk, which will be a new (Q1 '25) bike that competes with the Step Star & Wired Cruiser? Obviously we won't know until it actually debuts but it looks like a version of their Jugg FS ST with slightly downgraded components to get the price down and directly compete in this category.
@@StayConnectedEV They make a good bike but their website has always been horrible...changing all the time & lots of incorrect information. It's better now but it still ONLY shows images of this bike with a dual crown fork. The description tells us that the bike has an RST guide fork but there is not a single image of it anywhere! It also does not state that a dual crown fork is even available. The only option even shown is a checkbox for the dual battery configuration. They still need some help on their website design.
Again ripping off Wired, they were the first to produce the Wired Cruiser fast bike. Ecells is always copping Wired, Wired has the best customer service , Ecells takes months to replace parts. The huge headlight looks like a motorcycle light. What do you mean haven’t seen anywhere on TH-cam. Citizen Cycle debut months ago, your too late for the party trying to kiss the owners butt.
Another thing I noticed DAVE about this I even tried putting in the cart to see if it would give me options. You can’t get a torque sensor on this? And no front fender option?
They dumped the torque option. Which is what I was interested in. It's still on like kings and crowns but the price goes WAY up. Although the step star with duel batteries and torque sensor option was not cheap when it was a thing. If I remember, 3200 ish. I think there is a niche there... that is step thru, dual battery, with a torque sensor and 9 speeds. Kind of an ideal cruiser if you have zero intention of taking it off jumps and off road parks. Maybe that is just me. I WAS really interested in the Step Star when there was this option. Step thru's are addictive. Forgot... this current step star is totally aimed at doing battle with wired's cruiser. Makes sense, I guess. But neither do it now for me oer the 7 speed Shimano and torque.
I think it’ll crack 40 because the 5 star does in the right conditions and a lighter rider, it’s the same bike pretty much but this one is better looking IMO
Why is Velotric Discovery 2 one of the best selling ebikes today? Maybe because some people want a bike that's actually legal and can be serviced in many locations. And weighs 40 lbs less. And has a 440lb load capacity compared to Ecells 330 lbs. And is UL listed (battery is completely waterproof). And can be pedaled (much easier) if you have no battery left. And can add a lightweight suspension seatpost for some rear suspension if necessary. And are not going to ride much off-road so don't need heavy rear suspension and heavy fat tires. And maybe they don't want to look like a motorcycle so they can ride bike paths without drawing as much attention. And they want to have settings to choose cadence or torque sensing at any time. And some people don't need speeds over 28mph. And don't need 4 piston brakes on a lighter bike. And they want a shifter and derailleur that is not Shimano's bottom of the line because they intend to use it more often. And they like having built-in turn signals as they are riding mostly on pavement. And they want a choice of frame sizes. And they like the larger diameter wheels. And no weld marks showing and on and on and on. Just showing how different these bikes are. I am NOT saying that there is anything wrong with the Ecells bikes! I think they are one of the best for the category that they occupy. I have been waiting for this model to finally show up and get reviewed before plunking down my hard-earned money. I just think you are comparing bikes in your video that are different. One is a legal commuter and one is an uncategorized Fat tire FS bike, and trying to tell people that one bike is the wrong one to buy or is inferior is not really accurate info here. I am very glad you like your bike and that you have confirmed everything that I was expecting in this model.
@@StayConnectedEV You totally missed my point...It all depends on what you want. It totally blows the other bike away in your mind for what YOU want in a bike but not everyone wants what you want. Very simple example: Some people just don't want a bike that's almost 100 lbs. But you will never admit the obvious. You are obviously aiming to be the the biggest fanboi on TH-cam.
You’re a Ecells fanboy you got your bike for free !!! . Ecells don’t even keep bikes stocked the buyer must put out the money and wait 60 days or more. Ecells is a drop shipping company. There’s other bikes that you could have compared the ecells to. Also the components on the ecells aren’t high end. Ecells not legal !!! Not UL tested and certified.
@@rambojohn7118 For the Step Star bike he's showing in the video people had to wait over 8 months!!! Hopefully that's a one-time thing because it was a new model....but still 8 months is too long to hold a customer's money with many incorrect delivery date promises.

Hi, how tall are you? Is this bike too small for 6'1 tall guy? I called them and they said this bike only comes in 16 inch frame with 24 inch wheels.
I am 6"2 it is perfect for you
Nice job!
Thank you Bruce!
Didn’t they have a 24” tire option?
I dont believe so
@@StayConnectedEV Ecell's website only shows a 24" bike in the Step Star model. No option for anything else at the current time. If you look at your tires you will see that you have a 24" bike. It's right there on camera 5 seconds into your video.
That bike looks so good wonder how it would look with mtb style handle bars
It really does!! lol.
No not ripping off wired a matter of fact they have the step through planned before that they took a lot longer to finish it because they wanted it done right just like they did not rip off all-wheel drive from wired and they did not rip off dual batteries with the one in the one in the rack just like the suspension on the back they did not rip off that idea of having it supported stronger a matter of fact wired duplicated that
They had a step thru
Cant wait!
Also watch for the giveaway!
Do the big boy dual motor dual battery max power for the hills of hudson country nb😂
I’d love to order this step through e cells bike with the upgraded headlights with blinkers and the upgrades 750c display that’s on the kings.
Please do research. lol. You truly don’t know Ecells.
One can restrict the ECells motor to a class 2 or class 3 so that it can be legal.
Nice color
I love the red!
2795.00 for duel battery version? Wtf
Yes great deal if you use our coupon -$100 too.
Great review , IF your order the extra battery option, do you get the Dual crown fork?
Thanks so much. No you dont unfortunately
Haha no. Can’t even compare
How cool of a bike. Man the velotric is trash.. also pretty cool giveaway i hope i win!!
Im glad you enjoyed it.. Also good luck in the contest.
Another thing I noticed DAVE about this I even tried putting in the cart to see if it would give me options. You can’t get a torque sensor on this? And no front fender option?
Front fender is standard. I didn’t put mine on. But they did scale back the customizing during many cancelling orders.
You know what the torque sensor at this level of power and speed is not a good idea… you don’t want to “push” at near 40mph this bike was done right
They dumped the torque option.
37.5 mph...nice
for my heavy body ill take it lol!
I think it’ll crack 40 because the 5 star does in the right conditions and a lighter rider, it’s the same bike pretty much but this one is better looking IMO
@@johnnightly5281 ...you may be right. Me...I am a fat body at 260 lbs...but I do want a step-through...even if it only does 37.5. 😁💪🦵⚡️
Check out the predator!?
Will do
@@StayConnectedEV
Wow it’s unreal. Only 100 made.
The Velotric doesn’t even compete. And any bike repair shop can repair the Ecells. For the money it’s the best deal compared to the Velotric for sure.
You are obviously aiming to be the the biggest fanboi on TH-cam.
lol fanboy ? No. It’s pretty obvious the Velotric is engineered much better than the discover 2.
75 days later still no bike I’m just cancel
Don't do it. I am at 7 months waiting for my dual step star. I truly believe will be worth it.
Im so sorry!
Im sorry!
@@rachel64660 that’s out rages
So much information in this video is incorrect. He's trying to compare this bike to the other ebike and there is no comparison.
Do reseatch before you talk. Both are stepthru bikes.
