Nice little job that dude. I installed an Ohme home pro a few weeks back, first EV install. It took a while to get the RCD trip sequence sorted. The Ohme charger has an installer mode that nulls the restart time after a fault. I thought that was a nifty feature. The device in the EVCP always tripped before the upfront RCD. 🤷♂ Great video as always mate.
Definitely a good idea. You’d be surprised how many electricians I’ve spoken to about the Hypervolt and they’ve complained about the random start making testing hard and they’ve not known it can be switched off!
Pity you don’t cover Cornwall as it would be good to use you. Can I ask, does the supply have to go back direct to the consumer unit or could it take a spur from a 6mm supply to hot tub? Which is fed direct from the consumer unit. Where we park the car is no where near the unit and don’t want cables going all around the outside of the house?
I’ll be in Cornwall next month but for a holiday 😀 as for the supply, no you can’t take it from anything else. Being 7Kw it has to be on its own circuit
Informative video ! Quick question please . Is the lead connector holder a must have ? Can l loop the lead around the charger and leave the connector hanging?
Straight out of the box no, because there’s no protection from water entering the plug. However I’ve just fitted one this week and the customer bought their own rubber cover to do this
@@mattsan70 Wire route was like that when we moved in and I never got round moving it. The split bit of timber behind it is on the to-do list. The timber was added last time I changed the bell push in order to get the wire in behind and avoid cutting the bell push casing - and this one has lasted many year longer than previous bell pushes. Now you know. 😀
You can yes but you would need the CT clamps to be wired back to the main incomer cables. And also a quick calculation to see if the 10mm can handle the charger plus whatever else it runs at the same time
Great video! Question - I’m looking at getting the hyper volt. I have solar and DC battery storage. I would be looking to set this up so that the car charges when I’m exporting to the grid, where do u put the ct clamp for that? I don’t want to drain the house battery to charge the car. How would u set this and and where would you put the cat clamps? Thanks in advance
That 3.0 looks loads better!! Nice that it comes with the little booklet aswell, it will save me getting messages of sparks asking how to set the load limit 👀😂
It’s in the regs now for all EV chargers, it’s actually worded wrongly saying double pole, but it has to disconnect the neutral as well under a fault which these will do.
@@Cablesmith misses charge, charges don't save data on the graph. Locks itself so doesn't charge, goes offline so doesn't record the charge, if you ask hypervault it's always something you've done. On night schedule charge plug in the day and starts charging. I posted it in the Facebook group they blocked me.
I have had problems with this charger too. You contact Hypervolt they give you a ticket and it never gets resolved. Its always “ oh it’s something we are looking into “…..
You lads did a fine job as usual. It's always a pleasure to see your brilliant work. Cheers.
Thank you for the kind comment mate!
@@Cablesmith Always my pleasure.
Glad to see you filming again pal. Enjoy your vids and content. Keep doing them, you been gone too long 👍. Hope your well…
Believe me I’ve wanted to, but been way too busy to be filming as well recently!
@@Cablesmith great that your busy pal, you need another apprentice to help you out 🤣.

Can I supply my charger from spare way in my attached garage cu? The cu is fed with 10mm cable. Cheers

When is the next video out Sean? I keep looking but nothing for 4 months. 😢
I’m slacking big time I know! I keep saying soon, I’ve even got 2 videos done just not bothered with uploading yet!

EV charger and Angle drilling, you'll be hearing from Jordan's solicitor 😂😂

Why do you need a double pole RCBO thought they were only needed when the N is bigger than the L

Thank you dude!
Would you recommend this charger or can you recommend a better one
I think it’s pretty good, maybe not as good as the zappi when it comes to connecting to the app etc tho.
Nice video. I thought it was going to be an April fools video. I hope you did not fit the doorbell?
haha thanks mate but no April fools here I’m not prepared enough for that stuff!
