I’m a retired electrician and like to keep up to date with the industry, I know I can rely on your knowledge and credibility which I definitely cannot do with a lot of ‘influencers’, TH-cam for some, is getting like the Truman Show with so many product placements, I’m just waiting for them the advertise the coffee they drink.
Keep up the great content and stay true to yourself 👍

I think the 3.0 updates were mainly needed to get increased functionality in talking to the grid, enabling their deal with Octopus. Apparently the charger is going to be compatible with their intelligent tariffs from q3 2024, and 2.0 is going to take until late q4 2024 before it’s can support Octopus’ tariffs. Also I understand Octopus have additional requirements for talking to the grid to understand local grid demand, which is not beneficial to the customer other than being a requirement for Octopus’ to bring hypervolt into the fold as a company. I imagine that’s why the 3.0 was needed. In terms of added benefit to the end user/installer, agree there’s no real difference

I fitted my first 3 pro earlier this week and the main unit machine screws were definitely captive. I also like the backplate as I found it easier to properly level the unit on an old cottage wall
I found that routing and looping the supply cable to be a breeze and the heat sink fins an improvement, the sealed LV side of it I thought was a worthwhile improvement
Not really massively different to the old one to install but I didn’t have any particular complaints about that

Thank you. I'm not a spark, but I have a Hypervolt 3 and I commented on another video that the only difference seemed to be the case. To me, the internal electronics looked the same too, although I've only been in there once to adjust the load limiting after the DNO gave me a new fuse.
I got a reply about an updated version 5 app that will have new features. Perhaps they'll let me see more of the telemetry that they collect, such as supply voltage.

@@taylorthrall7321 I haven't got anything to compare it to, as I've only used the one charger. It has load limiting, which the DNO required for the initial installation. The manual says it has solar integration, but I don't have solar to integrate it with. The fancy light show is, in my opinion, a silly gimmick. If I tell it the price of electricity then the app tells me what it costs me to charge. I like the ability to use the app to disable the charger. It would be nice if it could integrate with the Octopus charge anytime tariff. It charges my car without any difficulty. You can install the app on more than one phone and control the charge point from any of them. You can set charging schedules.
In summary, it works for my quite basic use case

i've never in my life ever bought anything just under the word of someone else unless i know them personally... i want to use the tool/item/appliance myself before i buy anything.. if i cannot, i go elsewhere.. i especially dont buy things that are the market fad and absolutely everyone is pushing i prefer to, again try it myself so i can give my honest word about its quality. case and point i used to use cordless tools built by a company that uses alot of red that starts with M.. i binned my entire set after i went though 5 batteries in 2 years 2 of the batteries were replacements themselves and not knockoffs i bought them straight from the local authorised dealer.. the dealer tried to get most replaced but the main office refused to warranty them.. the dealer was brilliant they are great people they themselves was willing to eat the cost and replace 3 of the batteries out of there own pocket i refused as i dont see why they should pay so i bought an entirely new replacement set from a different brand they sell. wonderful people at that shop so they keep me as a customer i just wont buy tools when the brand themselves wont stand by there own tools..

Is there any way I can tell my Hypervolt 2 not to charge beyond 80% ?

You need to set the parameters on your car to 80%, that will do it 👍

I’ve had a Hypervolt 3 EV charger installed back in July, there was no mention of pro, is this “Home Pro” version any different?

Not really, I wouldn’t say there was any benefit to it really at all.

Would you recommend this EV Charger as I'm looking to buy an EV Charger for my home. Thanks.
