    I feel like Carlsen must've really enjoyed this game. He played a rare opening at the super GM level looking for a novelty and Firouzja was up to the task. Through their play over the board they debated the strengths and weaknesses of the novelty. I think Magnus offered the king and checkmate as a sign of respect and because it led to a beautiful checkmate, with the queen behind the king - the queen being the first major piece to attack in the Scandinavian.

    • @frederickroy7039
      @frederickroy7039 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a feeling he'll just brush off this game as too many poor moves to be taken too seriously. At some point he was ahead by enough of a margin that in classical he would have most likely prevailed. Point is, both did not play this game up to their respective strengths.

      @harshwardhanshah3419 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Even I’ve been playing the modern. It’s pretty good, and I feel better than queen takes d5 as that’s just stupid at any non 700 and non gm level. I would urge u to learn what to do in case the opponent does something nonsensical as it happens a lot

      Wdym which line?. White can do and outstanding amount of moves after Nf6. They can do d4, Nc3, Nf3.

    • @AdmiralFerret
      @AdmiralFerret 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean.. between the main line (QxD5...) and the Modern line (Nf6...) Of the Scandinavian Defense. Unless they are both absolutely even, one is probably generally better to play. So, I was asking, in general, especially at lower ratings, which one would be better to focus studies on.

    • @calicoh5678
      @calicoh5678 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AdmiralFerret I prefer Nf6. Because the scandi can be hit with tricks like Ne5. The modern is more solid in my opinion. I play the Caro or match with e5

      I initially used to play traditinal variation in when i was 1100.....but current elo(1560) now i play modern variant with gambit way(namely icelandic gambit)........in my option modern will give u more fluid option than traditional one....u can get aggrasive play in modern...which is kind of tough in traditinal variant...u can improve ur sandinavian opening by adding more and more layer little by little....
