From the perspective of a spectator, these moves look so simple to see when you understand them but from a blind position, Magnus being able to maneuver his pieces and shred open positions and be feared for that is truly astonishing. His level of mastery is truly on a different level.

I hear a lot about how Fischer's performance at the Candidate's is the most amazing feat ever in chess. This feat by Magnus surpasses that and laps it several times to me.
Magnus had the entire world gunning for him, analyzing his every move to find an edge somewhere. Yes he has access to engines to, but that just makes it a level playing field.
125 games without losing. That's so far past sweeping the Candidate's against Taimonov, Larsen and Petrosian IMO, because Magnus was playing against Candidate's level players that whole time.

The world champion in 2023, Ding, loses so many games just in the world championship. Blunder so many times.
And the former world champion, Magnus, is undefeated in 2 years, demolishing everyone, including Ding and Ian. The skills difference, the quality of chess of these two champion is huge.
I don’t think Ding can avoid losing one classical chess per month. Magnus is really the goat.

I don't think you will ever see this, but I just wanted to thank you because thanks to you, your videos and chessly, I have been able to push forward and keep learning this game I enjoy so much. So much is it that I have peaked in ELO today (just 710 ELO), I don't have much time to play daily, but I have recently gone through surgery, so now I have more time to watch your videos, study and play chess. I hope that I can keep on getting better and, who knows, maybe one day, if you return to OTB chess, I'll meet you in a tournament, and if not, I will have tried

I actually cannot wrap my head around the fact that Magnus is literally almost 2900 rated. Like, that´s the most insane thing and I can´t even imagine being rated that high lmao and also that he had a 125 game win-draw streak wtf

I think Kasparov's chess rating of 2856 in 2000 is honestly way more impressive than anyone getting to 2900 in this day and age cuz ratings are so inflated.

The Peter Svilder game that you were having a kitten about, was clearly him throwing his pieces away at the end. That wasn't a legit pawn checkmate. Peter sacrifices both his pawns and accelerates the mate rather than resigning.

@2:17 Can someone please tell me why Magnus doesn't take the pawn at d6 with the pawn at e7? Magnus moves his queen to b8 instead, and I can't understand that move. So the queen at e3 doesn't attack Magnus' rook by moving to g5? I'm not sure I understand that move.
