The relics bring trouble and wukong knows this and warns the bull king to stay away, but the heavens force it onto him as some sort of responsibility tying him down. Much of the dialogue in the game hints that the destined one is not the first monkey to go on the quest of relic retrieval, meaning that just by having the relic the bull king will always have conflict knocking on his door in the form of monkeys looking for it. this also seems to be part of the reason y the bull king keeps the relic hidden in his stomach and doesnt use it. he keeps it away from redboy because he knows that the power it gives also just only brings trouble, as redboy wouldve used the relics power to take revenge on the heavens for genociding the yakshas, further perpetuating the cycle of misery.

The animated scenes are a bit hard to follow if we're not familiar with the original lore, as it depicted at least three time periods: pre-journey to India, during, and after the game's cinematic prologue. We see the Bull King getting beheaded by Nezha but he turned out again alive in the next scene. Apparently this happens in the novel where the Bull King was actually beheaded several times but survived each time because he also have the same 72 Transformations technique as Wukong. He was then tortured and brought to the Jade Emperor for punishment. I guess the Bull King was pardoned to help fight against Wukong in the prologue story, but how he became so old and frail with a strange wound on his body in the present is a bit unclear. Perhaps he refused to use the relic and forbade his son Red Boy from using it too, so Heaven tortured him into that state. I'm not sure. The reason I watching this is because I was confused from what I saw the chapter animation. The Bull Demon family is more of an story arc within the “Journey to the West.”
I don't get it either. They make it seem like Wukong killed himself, or let himself die, because he thought then the deities would finally leave his brothers alone. IDK where that's supposed to fit in to the beginning of the game where Erlang is smashing him into the mountain. The little understanding I have of them in the JTTW is just that Bull King and Princess Iron-Fan are mad at Wukong for running to Guanyin about Red Boy, so she didn't want to give him the fan when Wukong and gang needed to pass the flames. Wukong and Red Boy obviously got into it, but apparently were 'friendly' with each other at some later point after Red Boy got the Buddha backhand enough times. As far as the relationship between the Bull King and Wukong I just got the impression the Bull King was mad about his son getting Guanyin-slapped cause of Wukong, but it seemed like he was willing-enough to just let it go when Wukong explained himself. It was angering his wife and concubine and then actually stealing the real fan that got him super pissed. In the end it was the Bull King being stubborn and just not wanting to flame the fires on the mountain so Tripitaka could pass. As he tried to run away during his fight with Wukong and Bajie the immortals were basically like "bro just put the fires out.. all of the heavens are on board with this needing to happen. We're going to violate you if you don't." So Bull King just fought til the end and was beheaded enough times and beaten down that he was like "ok fine I'll bend over to Buddha." So they were sworn brothers at one point, but were estranged due to the 500 years.. and it took only a few interactions of them reuniting before they both decided they were sworn enemies. In the story it was Wukong/Pilgrim who had the aid of the heavens in submitting the Bull King because all of the heavens were prepared to help Tripitaka on the Journey. They seem to show that part in the animation and have The Bull King on his last leg enraged when he hears his concubine and all of the 'fiends' loyal to him were executed. I just can't put together the other animation where Wukong is dying in the Bull King's arms etc. I guess maybe Wukong had his turn, ultimately was forced to turn on the Bull King.. and then the Bull King had his turn, who was later forced to turn on Wukong, and Wukong finally died that time.
One correction about Bull's wife. Somethijg strange was also hinted in the original book. The Bull's child looks like a normal boy, and posseses a skill only "Taishang Laojun" (Taoism spiritilual leader) knows. Also the Iron fan was a Taoism ritual tool. In the book, Taishang Laojun sent a servant(spy) to be the local earth god of the flaming mountain, redirected Wukong to seek for the bull for the resolution of putting off the fire, while himself can easily do so, but chose not to. However, the book gave me the feeling that the child's true father may have something to do with Taishang Laojun. Upop Wukong defeating bull ij original book, the child was taken away by Buddha. In the game, it is hinting Asura clan (protector of Buddhism holly mountian ) was slaughtered . But by whom?and why he was protectes by Taoism? It seems Taoism leader was preserving evidence of Buddha's killing to gain upper hands in religious fight. The Asura, Wukong, ErLang(a demi god, whose mother was a sinner) , the Bull, many other Yaoguai , and "humanity" seem to share the common fate: being consumed by gods to retain long gevity
@@sdqsdq6274 red boy is indeed their son. The theory above is just a misunderstanding of the book. The game wukong is a "black" version of the book and there are many difference between them. In fact, in the book, wukong and buul demon king are just brothers in debauchery.
Before BMW was created, people who read the book were already speculating that red boy was Lord Lao's son because he doesnt look like a cow and has the ability to use the samadhi fire, a skill that neither the bull king nor the princess knew. Lord Lao was the only one who knew it. There were other conspiracy theories about the original plot of the story before BMW, like how the all-women-country was a secret harem brothel for the gods, and how guanyin used 2 of the 3 circlets to grow her own following by putting them on the black bear and red boy instead of bajie and sandy.

ChatGPT generated given the full text of the book: Here's the chronological order of the Bull Demon King's (Ox King's) story in "Journey to the West": 1. Early Life and Brotherhood with Sun Wukong: The Bull Demon King, also known as the Ox King, was a powerful demon king who, in his early life, became sworn brothers with several other demon kings, including Sun Wukong, the Monkey King. This group of seven demon kings, known as the "Seven Great Sages," had a strong bond and ruled over their respective domains. 2. Marriage and Family: The Bull Demon King married Princess Iron Fan (Raksasi), a powerful demoness who possessed the magical plantain fan. They had a son named Red Boy, who inherited his parents' formidable magical abilities, particularly his control over fire. This family was well-respected and feared in the demon world. 3. Abandonment of Princess Iron Fan: Over time, the Bull Demon King's relationships became complicated. He abandoned Princess Iron Fan and their son in favor of a fox spirit, Princess Jade, who resided in the Cloud-touching Cave on the Mountain of Flames. This betrayal caused significant tension in his family, with Princess Iron Fan harboring deep resentment towards him. 4. Red Boy's Defeat and Capture: Red Boy, the son of the Bull Demon King and Princess Iron Fan, later encountered the Tang Priest (Tripitaka) and his disciples during their pilgrimage to the West. Red Boy captured Tripitaka, intending to eat him to gain immortality. However, Sun Wukong, with the help of Guanyin Bodhisattva, defeated Red Boy. Guanyin then converted Red Boy into a disciple of Buddhism, naming him "Shancai" and taking him under her care. This event further deepened the Bull Demon King's animosity towards Sun Wukong. 5. The Conflict Over the Plantain Fan: When the Tang Priest and his disciples reached the Fiery Mountains, they found the path blocked by intense flames. Sun Wukong sought the plantain fan from Princess Iron Fan to extinguish the fire. However, due to her lingering anger towards Sun Wukong for defeating her son, she refused to lend the fan and even attempted to deceive him by giving him a fake fan. This led to a direct confrontation between Sun Wukong and the Bull Demon King, who intervened to protect his wife's interests and to exact revenge on Sun Wukong. 6. Series of Battles with Sun Wukong: The conflict between the Bull Demon King and Sun Wukong escalated into several fierce battles. Both demons displayed their extraordinary shape-shifting abilities, transforming into various creatures in attempts to outmaneuver each other. The Bull Demon King, with his immense strength and magical powers, fought valiantly but was ultimately unable to defeat Sun Wukong. 7. The Bull Demon King's Defeat: Despite his power, the Bull Demon King was eventually overwhelmed. Sun Wukong, with the assistance of Zhu Bajie (Pigsy), Sha Wujing (Sandy), and several heavenly deities, managed to subdue him. The final battle was intense, with the Bull Demon King being trapped and captured by the Buddha's troops and Heavenly King Li. His defeat marked the end of his threat to the Tang Priest and his disciples. 8. Aftermath and Consequences: After his capture, the Bull Demon King was brought to justice, and his capture ensured that the Tang Priest and his disciples could continue their journey westward. The magical plantain fan was finally obtained, and the flames of the Fiery Mountains were extinguished, allowing the group to pass safely. The Bull Demon King's story serves as a cautionary tale of pride, betrayal, and the inevitable defeat of those who stand against the forces of righteousness.
Painting at the end of the chapter insinuating that fox daughter is the daughter of the Bull King and his lady Fox lover . She does say that Bull's wife is not her real mother . Btw masterclass game. One really great AAA game . I hope Space Marine 2 and Kingdom Come 2 continue this run with FF XVI that comes to PC soon and remake of Until Dawn .
Kalo gak salah, di kisahnya ini Red Boy itu reinkarnasi dari putra Yaksha King yang dulu (pangeran Yaksha). Jadi dari segi kekuatan dan hak, dia memang pantas disebut Yaksha King cmiiw
red boy doesn't necessarily need to be bull demon king's biological son. according to the novel, the water of river childbreeding can make anyone pregnant without any partner involved. so I guess bull demon king might just thought red boy is his biological son but probably not.
Theres also further lore about the origins of Red Boy that you need to know to understand the dialogue and animation. Some of it is speculation by Chinese players. In the game Rashshasi pleads with you to spare him because he is the last of the Yaksha lineage. Years before the Journey to the West the Celestials put down a rebellion of the Yaksha people ( they once served as soldiers for the Celestials, but revolted). Hence, the Celestials ordered every last one killed. One of the last to be killed was the Yaksha King, who was overwhelmed with grief over the loss of his young son. This is where Laozi shows up and tells hims how he can save the lingering soul of his son and preserve his lineage the last of his kind. With the last of his life energy, the Yaksha King sealed the soul of his son in a state of slumber awaiting a vessel (a child) into which he could be reborn to avenge his race. In the Journey to the West we learn that the marriage between Rakshasi ( also the last of her kind, her race also killed by the Celestials) and the Bull King is estranged. Rashshasi (she says in the animation that is forced to drink from the River of Childbearing and bear the child) hence concieving Red Boy (the last of the Yaksha) born with the burden of a vendetta against the celestials to avenge his people (like he says in the game that he wants the power of the relic to avenge his people). This is why upon failure and defeat he chooses death over surrender. He cannot bear that he is unable to bring vengeance against the celestials for the death of his people.

@@rohanthomas6629he is not higher than bodhisovatta he was granded buddhahood by buddha and giving the title "victory fighting buddha" which does not make him higher than other not close to real buddha
He was made Buddha and was granted a title but as it turns out, this was all just to keep him pacified in Heaven. That was always the plan with Wukong from the start. He was a divine being meant to reside in Heaven but he had the heart and mind of a "Monkey." When he decided to go live back on his mountain it was agreed that he would just be stopped again. On his Journey with Tripitaka he had all the heavens on his side. Now he has all the heavens against him and cannot win. In the Journey the Bull King and Wukong become enemies after the 500 years due the circumstances of Red Boy being dealt with, and Wukong insulting Bull's wife and concubine (and stealing the fan). That was Bull's moment to have all of the heavens against him because he was impeding Tripitaka's passage by stealing the fan back from Wukong and refusing to fan the flames on the mountain. That was when he was ganged up on and overpowered by Wukong and gang, as well as all of the Heavens. He submitted to Buddha at that point and became just like his Son in the story. In Black Myth, we see that Red Boy has apparently not submitted to Guanyin and has never had the constraining rings placed upon him like Wukong's headband. He simply wants the relic to give him powers to stand against heaven. The Bull King had submitted to Buddha in the story, but here Red Boy refuses and would rather take his own life. The scene where he tells his father "you knew what I was" etc makes sense because he's angry at his father for submitting instead of dying.
@@Magneticitist A lot has changed, and I have learned quite a bit. Here! Black Myth adds many causes and effects to the story of the Bull Demon King's family. Many years ago, when the Buddhist realm exterminated the entire Yaksha race, The Venerable Lord Lao saved the son of the Yaksha King at the last moment. However, as no Yaksha could be left alive, Lord Lao could only collect the essence of the Yaksha prince. He then had his disciple, who was also the Bull Demon King's wife, Princess Iron Fan, drink the water from the Child-Mother River and use her womb to give birth to a child, preserving the Yaksha bloodline. This child was Red Boy. This is the origin of the whole affair. After the Journey to the West, Bull Demon King harmed the Great Sage and also received a Relic perk, in exchange for the freedom to return to Flame Mountain. However, the Great Sage was after all Bull Demon King's sworn brother, and being forced to kill the Great Sage became a hurdle that the old bull couldn't get over. Bull Demon King became depressed, losing almost all of his former demonic vigor. Later, Red Boy learned about his origins and demanded the Great Sage's Relic perk from Bull Demon King, wanting to transform into another Great Sage to take revenge on the Buddhist realm. But Bull Demon King, fearing the power of the Buddhist realm and worried about his son getting into danger, adamantly refused to give it. So Red Boy first raised the flag of rebellion against the old bull. Bull Demon King, fearing to hurt his son, was imprisoned by Red Boy because of this, but Red Boy still couldn't get the Great Sage's Relic perk. On the other side, Princess Iron Fan went to ask The Venerable Lord Lao for help, but Lord Lao coldly replied: "I asked you to give birth to a child, not to raise it as a son. You two shouldn't interfere, and naturally, the disaster will be resolved." If the story of Lingji and Yellow Wind showed what kind of image the Buddhist realm had, the dialogue between Princess Iron Fan and Lord Lao answers what kind of image the Celestial Court had - cold-blooded and unfeeling, supremely indifferent. The story of Flame Mountain ends with the Destined One defeating Red Boy. Princess Iron Fan knelt and begged for Red Boy's life to be spared, but Red Boy couldn't bear to beg his enemies again and angrily committed suicide. Note that here, Red Boy saw the Destined One as a spokesperson for the Buddhist realm and the Celestial Court.

1:03 okay I see what you did there. Cool
I couldnt piece this together without prior knowledge of the book. This makes more sense now, Thanks for this.
The Asura, Wukong, ErLang(a demi god, whose mother was a sinner) , the Bull, many other Yaoguai , and "humanity" seem to share the common fate: being consumed by gods to retain long gevity
huh ? red boy is not the child of demon bull and iron fan princess ?
@@寇书瑞why would red boy be the bull's son if the princess drank from the child bearing river to get the child?

I just finished the part where Wukong forces the bull to his knees and says some crazy shit like “ I Killed your family and took your wife’s toy… who’s your king?” And that for me was pretty badass

Here's the chronological order of the Bull Demon King's (Ox King's) story in "Journey to the West":
1. Early Life and Brotherhood with Sun Wukong:
The Bull Demon King, also known as the Ox King, was a powerful demon king who, in his early life, became sworn brothers with several other demon kings, including Sun Wukong, the Monkey King. This group of seven demon kings, known as the "Seven Great Sages," had a strong bond and ruled over their respective domains.
2. Marriage and Family:
The Bull Demon King married Princess Iron Fan (Raksasi), a powerful demoness who possessed the magical plantain fan. They had a son named Red Boy, who inherited his parents' formidable magical abilities, particularly his control over fire. This family was well-respected and feared in the demon world.
3. Abandonment of Princess Iron Fan:
Over time, the Bull Demon King's relationships became complicated. He abandoned Princess Iron Fan and their son in favor of a fox spirit, Princess Jade, who resided in the Cloud-touching Cave on the Mountain of Flames. This betrayal caused significant tension in his family, with Princess Iron Fan harboring deep resentment towards him.
4. Red Boy's Defeat and Capture:
Red Boy, the son of the Bull Demon King and Princess Iron Fan, later encountered the Tang Priest (Tripitaka) and his disciples during their pilgrimage to the West.
5. The Conflict Over the Plantain Fan:
When the Tang Priest and his disciples reached the Fiery Mountains, they found the path blocked by intense flames.
6. Series of Battles with Sun Wukong:
The conflict between the Bull Demon King and Sun Wukong escalated into several fierce battles. Both demons displayed their extraordinary shape-shifting abilities, transforming into various creatures in attempts to outmaneuver each other. The Bull Demon King, with his immense strength and magical powers, fought valiantly but was ultimately unable to defeat Sun Wukong.
7. The Bull Demon King's Defeat:
Despite his power, the Bull Demon King was eventually overwhelmed.
8. Aftermath and Consequences:
After his capture, the Bull Demon King was brought to justice, and his capture ensured that the Tang Priest and his disciples could continue their journey westward. The magical plantain fan was finally obtained, and the flames of the Fiery Mountains were extinguished, allowing the group to pass safely. The Bull Demon King's story serves as a cautionary tale of pride, betrayal, and the inevitable defeat of those who stand against the forces of righteousness.
Saw this and subbed!

Why is the Bull King so big in black myth?
I didint get it wukong was imprisoned then how we see him after the event of his banishment?? In the cutscene im confused wasn't wukong friends with bull king as th hen why he going against him in cut scene
I hope in the next game we get the avengers them n wave war against the celestials. God of war style
Anybody else thinks the princess was that fox from chapter 3?
I think she was the hanged fox from chapter 1 before secret boss. That's why she had anti fire clothes
How did they even killed him though
If asking about how wukong died he had made him self mortal
erlang didnt wukong, he was fighting Wukong with alot of help, the one who really seal Wukong was Buddha
So did the original Wukong never achieve Buddhahood then? Because that seems like a retcon from JTTW, also from the story in the game. This chapter's cutscene confused me the most.
It seems he achieved Buddhahood but his headband remained because no one trusted him buddha or not.
@@khoivo7947 In this version I'm pretty sure he rejected being a Buddha cyz he didn't want to sever those ties. He is prolly the highest level of bodhisovatta now or something. But the Celestial Court didn't care, and thus BMW happens.
@@rohanthomas6629he is not higher than bodhisovatta he was granded buddhahood by buddha and giving the title "victory fighting buddha"
which does not make him higher than other not close to real buddha
Well, the whole game story is about weak minded heroes who rather than plan an intelligent coup go to fight directly, get humbled, and become slaves.
