The recent study was released just weeks after plus-size model Tess Holliday appeared in a swimsuit on the cover of Cosmopolitan. She claimed to be celebrating bodies of all shapes and sizes. Obesity isn't an insult its literally a medical diagnosis, to say that offends you is wildly self absorbed. Thats like me challenging the diagnosis of depression, as if it was solely invented just to insult and offend me. If you're offended by the doctors diagnosis, you should be just as offended to look yourself in the mirror. Stop playing the victim and work on bettering yourself. Denial isn't gonna help you lose any weight, or feel any better when you next go for a check up.

True, but BMI isn’t the best indicator of health. It only uses weight, not where the fat is located.
“Fat stored around the hips generally isn't associated with the same health problems as belly fat. In fact, a recent review in the British Medical Journal found larger waist measurements were associated with health risks, but larger hip and thigh measurements were not.”

That's wonderful, and everyone should be like that. But sugary and fatty foods are addictive like smoking and like taking drugs. This addiction happens very gradually, as you do start eating something sugary or fatty. And most overweight people are in fact addicts. And for the majority of those overweight people, it will take external guidance to permanently help them off their attraction towards unhealty foods.

Addicts have the tendency to defend their addictions
They won’t hesitate going great lengths to make the opponent feel inferior
The reason so many people are obese is because they focus on the short term instant gratification that food gives rather than facing reality which is time itself on what you do on a daily basis effects who you are as a person living the one life you have
    As piers Morgan once’s said

Eat less and move more should be the way. And these plus size models can sometimes give away toxic body positivity which is harmful.

I remember when I was overweight and I would eat a lot of crap. I used to tell my mom, "I'm so fat." I expected her to say, "You're beautiful just the way you are." Instead, she told me to lose weight and start eating healthy. At first, I used to get mad at her because of her honesty. However, beginning of 2023, I looked at my body and said, "You know what, I'm going to start eating better and working out more." I lost about 19 pounds, feel confident and happy, motivated, and active. I'm feeling much better than before. Being overweight and eating crap was horrible and it affected my life. Even when sometimes I don't workout because I'm lazy or going out, I feel guilty.

I'm currently 19, around the age of 5 I was diagnosed with a probably lifetime-illness, which caused me to rapidly gain weight. I had to take medicine every day and visit the doctor every third month.
Then all of a sudden, it disappeared, i could stop taking medications, but I was left with 100kg at the age of 15-16.
The fattest I was was 103kg actually. I know it's crazy.
Now I am 87-88, in the past month I dropped 4-5 kgs, doing nothing but eating less meanwhile working more. Not gym or anything, but I work in a bakery with my dad and for three weeks I could work more, often 15-17 hours shifts. I had only breakfast and lunch in the late afternoon, that was it.
The backpain I occasionally had disappeared as I lost weight, and I am way more comfortable than before.
Personally I dont think there's a huge problem with being a BIT overweight, but being extremely overweight and claiming that this is normal, I'd say this is a mental issue now.

Overweight is not healthy. That is not an opinion. Period. Can you be happy overweight? Yes. Can being overweight on a front cover of a fashion magazine sensationalize obesity? Yes. Is it reasonable for a person to accept being overweight and be happy about themselves? Yes.
They are arguing two different points. And both are right. Bottom line: Be happy with yourself, while accepting overweight is not healthy. Also, the main job of a plus size model is to model plus size clothing so plus size people can see what it looks like. Most plus size models are not "advertising obesity" ... they are advertising clothing.

They are discussing two points and fighting about it, Piers point is that the woman on the Cover of the magazine is a bad image to future girls (or people actually), the other point is people accepting their bodies (the other side). I agree with both points, each person is responsible for their selves, and having someone like that lady on a cover magazine is wrong. Young people are not yet able to understand life, so they may let themselves go and think it is acceptable. Most people reach that stage because they are not taught right in a young age. (I'm one of them- I have few extra pounds on my and trying to loose them for two reasons: health and body image), I don't go calling people fat or shaming them for being over weight, even when talking about this subject, I always refer to myself, what I want to do or how I feel, I don't say that everyone should be like this or that. People should be able to recognise the different points raised and argue that. In other video Piers mentioned that this lady (or other one) should be in a video where she encourages healthy eating and exercise and not in a music video....

Curves that often seem to be lacking in too skinny women, but also get distorted if they get too big. I think it's probably just as important that women should feel good about themselves, and a life with a stable mental health, enjoying life, is probably to prefer then to be living on salad and misery and living a year or two longer.

I think you should eat Kentucky Fried Chicken 5 times a day Piers. Also, keep that exercise to a minimum. You could also start smoking a minimum of 2 packets of cigarettes if you aren't smoking already + 10 cigars per day. Finish your evening off with a nice stick of butter. To good health Piers!

Butter isn't actually bad for you. And if Piers limited his diet to fried chicken, while the fried part isn't the best kind of fat (usually seed oils), it'd still technically be a low-carb diet, like keto. He would lose weight & reduce inflammation in his body. Only the cigarettes would have a detrimental effect on his health.

Men or Women, it doesn't matter. The issue is simple. Your weight is yours, and nobody has the right to criticize you personally. If you are happy with how your body is now, fat or not, that is totally fine. It is also unhealthy to be distressed with yourself.
However, advertising obesity itself as something ideal can draw countless problems, both socially and individually. The ladies in the show are certainly not to blame, but I think the media should be more aware of their leverage and responsibilities these days.

i think that sums it up almost perfectly, i'd say a bit of fatshaming is good just as piers is always saying, because it can motivate you to be more healthy and lose weight. People that get hurt by this just need to grow a pair of balls and get on with it. And then if people are delusional and ignore it and are fine with being overweight then they can be overweight and live an unhealthy life.

One thing that this misses is on is body types and WHERE your fat is located. Some women simply are built different. It’s been proven that fat in your midsection is extremely dangerous. Whereas larger hips, buttocks, thighs (where your waist is slim) is actually shown to have positive, protective qualities (Google it!).
If you look up Olakemi you see that her stomach is quite flat and her waist comes in. Her weight is primarily in her buttocks & hips. She has an hourglass figure. Some black women are naturally built like this. It’s far less common in white and Asian women. While their BMI would place them into the Obese category. A woman who who’s fat is primarily in the form a huge, protruding belly could be the same weight, yet her fat is FAR more dangerous.

    • @nelzzz89
      @nelzzz89 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

Fat stored around the hips generally isn't associated with the same health problems as belly fat. In fact, a recent review in the British Medical Journal found larger waist measurements were associated with health risks, but larger hip and thigh measurements were not.

These women are catering to a different segment of the market, which is plus size. However, if they are intentionally keeping high body fat, it may cause trouble in later life.
Higher body fat percentage (Not BMI, big body builders have higher BMI) causes a lot of health disorders. It is always better to stay within a lower body fat percentage which can help to stay healthy.

You have to be labeled with that word BECAUSE IT'S ACCURATE. Any word can be considered offensive once someone realizes the actual, unadulterated mean of it. This is a simple, non-candy-coated word.
You tell them, Piers. Eat less, eat right, and exercise. Notice how these women get all excited when Piers tells them what they have to do to be healthy. It's not just a matter of willpower, but of simple, SELF DISCIPLINE, of which some people will never acquire.

They never talk about what unhealthy lifestyles of people who are dangerously under weight or ways it takes to stay that way either. You could be plus sized and healthy too. I've seen this it's like they lose weight or eat healthy but they are still the same size. There should be a warning on magazines because young adults think they should look like models.
