This is actually a rather small arena/crowd for Babymetal. It is about 12,000 capacity. It ia a pretty nice venue but Babymetal usually plays the Yokohama Arena when they play in Yokohama, which is bigger. There was someone else playing in that arena this night. In addition this was Momo's coming out party and the name of the arena is PIA Arena MM (MM for MoMo get it?).
Great reaction. They have used it as an opener and a closer, at this concert it was actually the second song, but the first chance Su got to talk to the audience. First song was 'The Legend' which is a slow anthem sort of song, so not the sort of song where Su could welcome everybody. PIA MM Arena is actually one of the smaller arenas they've played lately with a capacity of (I think) about 12,000 (someone will correct me on the numbers if I'm a long way out). They chose it for these concerts (BABYMETAL Begins, Black Night and Clear Night) for a couple of reasons ... at the end of this first concert Momoko was revealed as the new third member (and Momoko = MM), so the second night (Clear Night) was her first concert as Momometal, an official member ... and Yokohama is her home town. 'Megitsune' is a big favourite, often coming top in fan polls and it is the song they have played live more times than any other. 🤘 This audience was great ... I think my favourite BABYMETAL audience for this song was at the Red Fox Festival performance in 2017 - they had an exclusive all female audience (yes, it is a female empowerment song). 'Megitsune' was the first single they released after splitting from the parent group Sakura Gakuin to become an independent band in their own right - that was in 2013 - the official video was released when Su-metal was 15, Yuimetal and Moametal were 13, about to turn 14. 'Megitsune' is also arguably the song that showcases better than most what BABYMETAL are about and one that truly reflects their Japanese culture the best starting with the sound of the traditional instruments (shamisen or koto, you decide which) in the intro and the lyrics about women being compared to foxes (kitsune - which also explains the fox mask Su had🦊) which, in Japanese mythology, are able to shape shift and take human form in order to deceive. It is also a bit of a push back against the traditional female role in Japanese society I think - or maybe it is - whilst also praising and celebrating the women who have played that role over the years for their strength. They are saying that women wearing their make up and hiding their true feelings ("crying at heart, smiling at face") are not trying to deceive anybody, they are simply trying to please everybody - so they are not kitsune (foxes), they are megitsune (female foxes or vixens) - and they are strong. The melody used in the live intro and in the breakdown in the middle of the song is from the very well known Japanese folk song called 'Sakura Sakura' (Cherry Blossoms). When Su spoke a couple of words and did a high kick she said "Otome wa ... nametara ikan zeyo." (Maidens ... shouldn't be underestimated). The last part of this is a famous quote from a Japanese gangster movie said by the daughter of a gang boss.🤘
At the end of BABYMETAL ( the Other ONE Begins Black Night ) concert was when we got the big but not surprising reveal that MOMOMETAL had become the third member. I was also at the LEGEND MM at YOKOHAMA ARENA for MOMO's last day of being 20. but did not win the ticket for her 21st Birthday concert.

Always a fun watch when you guys react to Babymetal. Very enjoyable and you picked a truly great version of this song to react to. This was the first night of a two night concert and I believe it was at the end of this night that Momo was announced as the new official member of Babymetal. You'll note here that she doesn't have a mic. But react/watch any of the second night-Clear Night concert and you'll see she finally has a mic and is rocking the dual pony tails like Moa. To me and many I've read commenting it seems that all the ladies appear really happy at these two shows. And that is attributed to finally being a trio again. Which is what they were always destined to be. Thanks for a fun reaction. p.s. it always puts a smile on my where Su does all the announcements in this song in English. It is utterly charming.
