Why The Nitro Deck+ Will Level Up Your Switch Experience | IGN Fan Fest 2024

- During last year’s Summer of Gaming, we revealed the Nitro Deck from the gaming hardware brand CRKD. For the uninitiated, the Nitro Deck is the handheld deck for both the original Nintendo Switch and OLED models. And now, less than a year later, Embracer Freemode is back at it again with the Nitro Deck Plus. The Nitro Deck was a controller for both the Switch and Switch OLED models that featured remappable buttons, combats joy-con stick drift, and comes in a variety of limited edition designs, and the Nitro Deck Plus is here to change the game yet again.

Thank you so much for having us again IGN and allowing us to showcase the Nitro Deck+! We hope everyone enjoys the improvements!!
Just got the OG one delivered yesterday and the new one got announced today. Bummer.
@@Slambearyeah this lowkey pisses me off tbh
I'm also not sure about the change to the stick placement
This kinda feels like a kick in the mouth to those early adopters who bought the original.
How about ship to asia region and lower the price? Crackpot
How about ship to Asia region and lower the price?
Have a CRKD deck, and it has revived my Switch. Play Skyrim on it, and have a lot of fun.
so awesome to hear!!
If only shipping to other countries wasn't the same price as the Nitro Deck itself, I'd have bought one already 😭
Now it makes the Switch look like a Wii U GamePad
Yes and I'm absolutely here for it
Ew@@rileyrattray
@@InnerRise Ew your face
@@InnerRise Don’t forget to go touch grass
@@rileyrattrayunironically the Wii u gamepad is so much more comfortable to hold than the switch. It never gave me cramps in Mario kart like the switch does.
That eject button looked not so easy to eject in your demonstration lol
Thought the same, tried it with the original and got it out easier than he did
“You kinda wiggle it out.” Real great engineering there.
Yeah, that was a flop and a half, lol
It looked fine, smoother than the original for sure.
The structure and composition seem legit. Like it would create a fully enjoyable experience with the extra triggers and ideal grip. Plus, larger joy sticks and buttons seems like a huge upgrade.
Pretty much makes it feel or look closer to a steam deck, minus the touch pads
Just bought my gen 1 nitro deck cause this thing wasn't available in Canada for a while and now the second one is out fml
I’m right there with you buddy. 😔
Same here
Yes so bloody annoying I’ve had that problem before! It’s almost like the make the first product inferior on purpose to then try and sell you a slight better product down the line
@@sandman8920just because the new one is better doesn't make the old one inferior. It's still an improvement over joycons
Usually they hype it up, cool features and then drop a really big annoying price on it equivalent to a Nintendo switch but they didn't. It's not a bad price tbh. Affordable and looks high quality
20 pounds more
How's the D-pad? The D-pad on the old one was better than on a Switch Lite, but still wasn't quite up to snuff for fighting games, likely due to the deck's thickness.
D-pad quality aside, the position of it on the controller doesn't seem the most comfortable to use for fighting games imo.
Type C Output??? So itll be compatible with AR Glasses such as the Rokid Max???
You moved the thumbstick to the top right to make it easier to access but now the face buttons are in the same predicament. Some grips that come off the bottom slightly ala the Split Pad Pro would've solved the issue and you could've kept the offset sticks.
wtf do you MEAN "Presented by the United States Air Force"
Both sticks up at the top? INSTANT BUY
Literally the best layout
will you release one with a battery to extend gameplay battery life?
I'll just wait for the ++ version with real HD rumble. My Mobapad M6 HD is so much better
So true...missed opportunity for crkd.
It would be the great In-line Controller if it has more complete feature or atleast having HD rumble....
Pre ordered one. Nice. The first one didn't convince me with the thump stick issue.
I'd recommend the Mobapad M6 HD instead.
Not sure if this one will fix the cramping issue, now you just have the buttons to awkwardly reach for.
Now the buttons on the bottom right are hard to reach. Why didn’t you just got for more of a steam deck layout or even the Rog ally where the buttons are higher to the right and stick higher to left but slightly lower than the buttons. The buttons and sticks should not be in a straight vertical line
Can’t please everyone man
Once you get used to the back buttons you will hardly use the face buttons. The elite controllers are like that. Once you get used to them you never use the face buttons.
@@_Nar0070x0is there a lore reason? 🥷🏻yeah I’m Man.
You ain't lying, can't go back to standard controllers. Love back buttons@@sandman8920
should've used an actual Wii U layout, tbh
will the carry case of the original nitrodeck fit this new case?
I’ll wait to see if the switch 2 fits in it
Exactly!
No, that’s a separate purchase for the Switch 2.
Idk a v shape offset layout with gyro compatibility would be nice.
That button position isn't it Chief. At least allow a version with the buttons in the CORRECT position. It's a nah from me dawg.
The symmetrical sticks with them up top is literally the best way to have it 100%
looks nice with the symmetrical layout.. hope everyone adopt it since modern game use heavy camera control anyway
So when you say dockable does that mean it can connect to a dock extension cable to play on tv?
The nitrodeck is the dock itself, it comes with a usb-c to hdmi cable he said :D
this! ^
@@crkdggwill it still charge while it is docked via the hdmi adapter? Or is it one or the other (docked or charging)? Hoping we can still charge while docked
There's two usb c ports. One for charging and one for an hdmi adapter.
@@andyb8403 To enable docked mode with the Nitro Deck +, it must be both charging and connected to the HDMI adapter simultaneously.
This is what the first nitro deck should have been. Definitely buying this
Will this be available in Australia like the current model?
It better be
Dockable? We are so back
Bt how? It look thick
@@farhanvampyou know there’s a video right there for you to watch right
I'm very happy to see this upgrade and hoping to purchase one when they ship to the UK
Can you use the Nitro Deck+ as the primary controller while you're also using it as a dock?
So now instead of having the right thumbstick on a terrible place we have the face buttons on a terrible place, which you use even more on nintendo games?
Wow, amazing solution, that totally solved the ergonomics issue 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 /s
The new button placement looks quite bad.
I'm worried about that too! Will it have the same problem as the original just for the buttons this time?
Thinking about getting the OG and just using it for games that don't utilize the right thumbstick after watching this
Why are the buttons/d-pad still directly under the analog sticks? :/
This. Offset the sticks like the pro controller or Xbox. Do this and it’s an s-tier product.
@@MrMetz202maybe share your thoughts and ideas on their discord… they made the right stick layout worse imo. Pass
"It has an easy eject mechanism"...Proceeds to struggle
Would be awesome if you could use it as a controller during dock mode (the original dock) 😅. More features why not
You can
The old one already can
Will the deck+ be available in the UK, as the previous versions were?
Not sure yet if it's for me, but happy to see a significant new Switch aftermarket product.
This is a big improvement. Reading the comments it’s everything short of “will it wash my car? Will it automatically do my laundry with the new programmable buttons? Can it launch a space shuttle from dock mode?” 🤦🏻♂️
Poppable thumbsticks are a huge plus not going to lie. For parents mainly as wear and tear on those are awful haha
sounds great but also too expensive + at the end of the switches lifecycle?
like will it work with switch 2 that might get announced this year?
My least favourite youtube trope is the 'sales guy reciting a memorized script while pretending to have a natural conversation'.
Weight comparison to the original one, please. Thanks
Are LB/RB clicky or quiet?
I’m not sure about this. Rumors are Nintendo will announce the next switch with a release date of fall 2024 so it’s possible another nitro deck will be announced for the new switch model so that will be another $70.00 dollars spent.
No...according to Nintendo, it will be announced on 2024 but will be release in 2025
@@DoubleDragon5180source?
@@DoubleDragon5180 OLED model will also come out later like V1.
Rumours have been flyin since the Lite... stay on topic
@Cinoism if nintendo launches a switch 2 in 2025 without a oled screen they can 100% sit and rotate.
But still doesn't have a soft back to prevent scratches smh
Now, make one for the Lenovo Legion Go and I'll buy one
The stick placement wasn't the issue, it's the button placement 🤦🏽♂️
Hope the D-Pad is better.
The "A" button is too low to be comfortable
The paddles make it so you never have to hit the A button. Literally never.
I’ll have to sell or pass down my current Nitro Deck and pick up the new revision.
Hope there will be a Nitro Deck for the Switch 2 when it's launch
Will the base part of the sticks be swapped? Not too crazy about the purple.
Tbh, I'm not a fan of right stick above the XYAB action buttons, for action games use a lot of XYAB, it's easier to reach down to right stick from your thumb than otherwise, will need a lot of adjustment since both Xbox and PS have them above and asymmetric to the buttons
Buy two, one of each config! 😂
Easy eject mechanism lol
Does this drain the battery faster than normal joycons would?
As it runs of the Switch battery, it does drain it a little extra. Roughly sub 10% for high intensive games.
@@crkdggI'm sure if you disable the rumble, and the front light you can get a bit more from it.
Huge improvement
Right stick is wrong again Ahahaha 🤣
Why lol?
Thought this was the biggest gripe with the first one. Shame they decided to ignore it.
@@undyingforceignore it? They overcompensated for it? Literally changed it completely...... How dumb can someone be?
@@Bleedblue6487 Straight to name calling? Very mature.

Demonstrate it being docked plz
Clear black looks dope❤❤
Dude looks like Scott Grimes
Does it weigh more than the original one? I'm just curious
Diagonal layout guys… that’s the only way to accomodate every kind of player. Diagonal layout is what we all are used to since forever. Every controller in the history has that layout, just do that damn thing, ok? You don’t have to reinvent an already perfect wheel.
It would be nice to have joycons that don't constantly break 👀
Will the clear white and black colors be a limited edition release or part of the base editions?

@@mjskillz23 embarrassing, steamdeck Oled does way better than 1 hour life and without playing games in 360p and 20 fps

Where's the extended battery version?
Looks like game gear
The first one should of done that
Makes it feel like a Steam Deck, I'd imagine.
so OG deck owners are getting fked for buying this early.
Nope I’m not buying it I’m happy with my retro bout nitrodeck and the stick placement is fine for me
They still have hal effect joysticks right?
Yes they will, ultimately eliminating the stick drift we all know and hate!
Is it comfortable to play with this time? The first one is uncomfortable as all hell. Plus the thumb sticks are loud and cheap feeling on the original.
They put the wii u layout
How does one become a Professional Switch Player asking for a friend
The hori split pad is much better
Or just mount the screen to the pro controller.
Woooow Bluetooth!!!! Amazing!!!!
Symmetrical thumbsticks >> cross thumbs sticks
It’s crazy how they just releasing this while the backbone been for a while …
Finally Swicht Pro
Why does it have analog triggers…?
You can use it as a wired controller on pc
the old nitro deck was okay, they just needed to move the stick and d.pad, so its diagonal from the analog sticks, having both sticks on top is usless
Great you get to wiggle it out 🤨
Uhm, is it compatible with Switch 2?
Sure but only if you buy two of these. OG and the + version

Cool.
What’s the point of having analogue triggers when the switch officially doesn’t support analogue triggers?
Switch reads it as a pro controller, iirc...
No thanks, features should have been in first edition…money grab before switch 2 releases
Uh uh uh uh uh calm down dude. No need to be nervous
I'm more interested in HOW not WHY
it’s a bit overkill for the switch. looks a bit cumbersome in my opinion.
Not cool. Just got a Nitro Deck not too long ago…
And it still won’t work with Pokemon Lets Go
