    If you have a large prop, be sure to check clearance 😉. Also, be careful if you have to grind a magnesium anode, I had some fun the next time I went to use the bench grinder and didn't clean up the shavings 😅

    Love your DIY segments. I have a alpha1 gen1 leg on my 350 mercruiser. The leg is in the raised position. The trim solenoids have been replaced and I need to bleed the system I cannot lower the leg to do this. I have tried to apply downward pressure on the leg as i trim down, but no luck. Can you suggest a better way?

      Thanks for watching, any update? Is the solenoid kit wire connections properly secured and not loose?
      Do you have sufficient battery power and voltage? A low voltage battery will make it difficult to raise and lower.
      Below is a link to our video showing the Air-Bleeding process on this outdrive.

    Excellent video. Like always, learning a lot from you! At this time I have a new problem with my boat that it doesn't engage forward or reverse. I have a 3.0LX MerCruiser with an alpha one gen 2. I inspected inside the gearbox Quick Silver 3000, and it's in good condition, the cables are moving correctly when I put it in forward and I move the impeller it locks to one side the way supposed to when I put it on reverse the impeller locks into the other rotation correctly the way it's supposed to be, the shifting cable is moving correctly and is new which I replace it with the bellows following all your videos, the problem is that the plate that move with the shifting cable to activate the neutral switch is not moving, that plate stays in neutral, when I move it by hand it move the way supposed to, when I remove all the cables and operated by hand they move freely, and they activate correctly the movement of the propeller the way it supposed to be, forward and backwards and neutral. When I move all the linkage by hand that activate, the plate for the neutral switch move correctly the way it supposed to. But once I connect the cables, it doesn't work anymore. I have 3 days testing and going to the process of elimination and even if the cables they move freely, and they look in a good condition I have the tendency to believe that I have to change the cables for new ones, I don't know what else it could be. I did not find any videos in TH-cam related with this topic, only the once they talk about the adjustment of the shifting cable, lubrication of the cables, and I already try all the different adjustments taking in consideration that the propeller works correctly according to the adjustments I made. Any suggestion that you can share with me, are greatly appreciated. 🙏🙏🙏

      Thanks for watching. Great question and sounds like you have been busy. Worn out cable possible as you mentioned…🤔
      You may want to spend a few minutes playing with the adjustment of cable. You can carefully unscrew jam-nut and loosen hardware to a point where you can shift up the cable housing and small brass cylinder to a point where it can be rotated…ultimately adjusting shift cable.
      👍🧰

      Definitely I'm going to follow your advice, even though I already did that for a lot of time even marking on the cable and stretching the cable and taking the right measurements between the middle of the hole to the point of your adjustment which it has to be 6 inches, none of that is being working, but definitely I'm going to give it a try again and spend more time doing all these adjustments very carefully to see if I'm going to succeed with this, or I may buy a new cable. I will keep you posted of whatever solution I may acquire. Thank you again for taking the time to answer my question I enjoy all your videos a lot because they are very precise with a great explanation and outstanding video Focus and position of the camera you're really separate far away from the rest of the videos on TH-cam, thank you for the excellent job you do for us.

    What can you do if the 3/8 Allen wrench seems stripped?

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders
      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good morning ☕️ any update? You may be able to apply Teflon tape to the tip of the allen wrench. This will give the allen wrench more grip as well as make it slightly larger so it can grab ahold of the bolt to loosen it up so you can remove it.

      What I had to do put a torch on it for about 30 seconds. Then I hammered in a 10mm Allen wrench and twisted it off. It worked thank you so much for the info for the job
