In a moment of isolation mania, I was walking around the house saying this line again and again in my best attempt at the accent and just laughing with myself. Had to finally look it up and watch it.

I believe good acting is what makes any amazing scene amazing. By virtue of it being amazing it ought to have the best in all components, a big one of which happens to be acting...
Best thing about the show is, that the dialouges doens't sound scripted. They always feel like normal dialouges people would have. Amazing. And the actress is amazing. Looks like shes jsut being herself :D

_Almost_ the same - Reynholm was secretly sane and one of the prostitutes from when Moss _didn't_ lose his glasses was trans. Probably the only thing in that pilot that was funnier than the original.
Yep I saw it.. it was done with more American references, but it was the same plot. It was so weird though seeing british/monty python humor done by Americans and it just didn't work.
I remember the first time I watched this scene. The show is just weird enough in its humour that I had no idea where the scene was going. At first, I thought that the joke would be that the others would think Roy's crazy or insensitive for not believing it, then the scene devolving into this heated meta-absurdist discussion just slew me. Great scene.
I don't know whether it sounds weird in the UK to have an indefinite article precede a plural subject, but here in the US it makes the line about 10x funnier
the funniest scene though is later on when he's so puzzled and unable to sleep that he starts researching fires at seaparks on the net, and the girlfriend walks in on him and asks him what he's doing and he replies "masturbating" :D
I would say it's an evolution of Seinfeldian like humour. Yes Kramer's homeless rickshaw idea, the soup nazi and many other bits were very funny but these guys take it to the next level and hit it out of the park
Oh god, it’s been like literally 8 years since I used to get high with my friends after work and we would all binge it crowd and other British shows on hulu lmao. The young ones was also hilarious.
Just to be a real DH I told this story to a girl that I had been on two dates with and decided I wanted to move on...told her the exact story that I was overcome with grief that my parents had died at a fire at Sea World at the shamu show. The strangest thing was she didn't find the story preposterous at all and I finally just had to ghost her.
My explanation behind how this could feasibly work is that she actually misspoke and meant to say that her parents actually died at a fire on a funfair peer, but she calls them seaparks. Which would make more sense because there are a lot of uk seaparks with wooden decking and even support.
Why is it so hard for nearly everyone on youtube to understand that people attend comedy show tapings for free and laugh and that almost no show in the US or UK in the last decade or two uses canned laughter. It's like everything I watch there's the same discussion in the comments.
Yeah that’s why you never see the other side of any rooms in these types of shows, because the audience is there🙄 people should realise it’s not a laugh track.

The UK has never used canned laughter, a show tried it in the 70's and the Broadcasting Standards Commission ruled it to be misleading, and I believe that although the US conceived it they haven't used it since the 80's for the same reason. Shows today are either filmed in front of an audience, shown later to an audience or simply don't have laughter present so people who criticise shows for canned laughter are either misidentifying a studio audience or are idiots/trolls.

Until 2020 and they all did used canned laughter for several years.
I praise British television for being concise and not overstaying its welcome, but there just isn't enough IT Crowd!!!
