The straight on arrow in lane 1 means that that lane exits there, remember they do not use left turn arrows in that situation because someone might turn sharp left and end up leaving the roundabout via an entrance to it. Lane 1 turns off and lane 2 moves over to lane 1, or at least that's what is meant to happen.

The law re phones in cradles was updated in the last couple of years to take into account modern technology such as vehicles that use tablets for controls and drivers who use phone based satnavs. That junction is badly designed. Daryll is in the correct lane. Lane 1 is immediate left for A34N; Lane 2 is for 2nd exit M3N so traffic in that lane needs to scoot left sharpish on entering the roundabout; Lane 3 is for other exits. Interestingly, if you look at the satellite image you can see clear tyre tracks showing most cars do as the Tesco van did, and I think a billion years ago it was both lanes around but you ended up with local traffic getting trapped.
