Kaboom is is probably an absolute beast of a weapon with the appropriate explosive perks. Really makes me wish this game had some form of endless gamemode so you could grind out a level 45 build and have all the perks, thus being able to make useless weapons potentially really niche and fun

Loved it when it first dropped and since then it's gotten none of the dlc from PC. Forgot the dlc, the game hasn't seen so much as an update. Lol. You should try a run where you don't shoot your guns and only use abilities like as Elementalist, Recon or Ranger. With the right cooldown perk setup and holding a weapon that boosts them those are pretty fun. To the point when I was doing them I remapped my controls to have abilities on LMB/RMB.

For anyone wondering, the reason that glitch happens is he throws it and then uses blink. For whatever reason, the trueshot glimmer hates when you blink during the throw animation.
I like using it on commando. You can get the blast radius big enough that enemies that fly don't really become an issue. But also it's meant to be a secondary weapon, not a sole use weapon, since it helps reload your other weapon when you get kills with it.
You are an absolute madman. You have to do a kaboom granade run with commando or something like that tho, i want to see if (with the proper perks) it can have any sort of potential and im way too bad at the game to figure this out myself.
I won two runs almost exclusively using Kaboom Grenade with commando today (one on guardian 1 and another on G4) and it’s actually kinda insane on mando. You can stack the blast radius to insane levels (even after taking the perfume bottle) and just wipe entire rooms of enemies with a few grenades, as well as not having to worry much about hitting flying foes. You can literally get enough explosion radius to hit like an entire haven city plaza of enemies all at once. Great with Tempo Shot Sharpshooter for a guaranteed crit on all of them. I think I might start taking this thing more on characters with baby boom, or at least with mando. Baby Boom + Supreme crit + Tempo Shot + Self Control was the build I used for both runs. Also CD is great for it.
@@mailcs06 Yes, after the updates its really good. It already was, but it was inconvenient to use, but with buckshot now being possible to put onto it, i dont use it because it makes the game too easy. Probably also helps that 6 months ago i was much worse than i am now.
A great way to make this weapon better is just to make it explode on contact. Maybe make it so that the explosion is smaller on direct but significantly larger when it bounces on walls or the ground
Honestly, I think just making it explode on impact with an enemy at all would make the Kaboom Grenade *usable* rather than a dumb gimmick weapon. Source: I used it enough to collect its card, and have basically vowed to NEVER pick it up again, because GODDAMN is it a sucky weapon...

It’s kinda interesting to hear all the dislike towards the Kaboom Grenade, even though I personally adore it It was especially good in early game to toss around corners before fully engaging in a fight, to whittle down the enemies from a safe distance, and it’s INCREDIBLY satisfying to pull off a perfect “Grenade Boost” as I’ve called it, by throwing it gently at a downward angle and getting ahead of it, then jumping. It’s a really fun pre-midgame movement tech if you can get the hang of it, and might even have some potential for new game speedruns
Kaboom grenade is definitely underrated, if there’s a high density of ground enemies it’s so good because you can peek in and out of cover and kill everything

It has I'm pretty sure the highest base area of any explosive weapon, so it works phenomenally with things like black powder, baby boom, etc. My personal favorite is to roll buckshot and megaboom onto it, the goal is to create as big of an explosion as you can
Yeah with even with just megaboom and nitro you can get a huge blast radius on this thing. Add in baby boom, 2 black powder, atomic mushroom, magic wand, etc., and you can literally make an explosion the size of a haven city square. It’s absurd.

kaboom grenade is pretty amazing honestly, it's definitely a ground weapon that is entirely meant for killing bigger groups of enemies way better than rocket launchers can but yeah it struggles against bosses or flying enemies
As someone who had beaten the game twice on G4 with the Kaboom grenade (and some if my best clear and boss time), i can tell that its an insanne weapon even without all the good explosive perks ! You only need to know how to use it for this weapon to shine... its the only downside (lets not talk about flying enemies bc no matter what class you choosed you always have an ability to deal with them). Btw did you know that you can ride the rail where the railbot spawn to instant kill it
My first ever legendary weapon I got when I first started playing the game was a kaboom grenade and I didn’t really understand how the weapon rarities worked so I assumed that the kaboom grenade was like the best weapon in the game because it was a legendary weapon. It came with rocket jump and it was still horrible
Not picking up jigsaw box was a miss play. It’s just a 10% damage boost because the downside only applies when you reload, something that you can’t do with the kaboom grenade.
I usually like to toss a few grenades at the beginning of a combat zone to clear most enemies. The explosion radius is very big and it has a very high base damage, so it is useful in clearing out small bots and turrets, which makes it a good side weapon. But I would never use this as my main damage source because the detonation delay makes it ipossible to hit a moving target. This grenade needs a prime function or simply detonates on direct enemy hits.
I did an explosives perks run on commando with the Kaboom Grenade and it was kinda crazy. Got really lucky with plenty of radius increases, baby boom, etc. and was able to fly through rooms. Single target kinda sucked though...
Looks like it may be staggering elites in a single hit, pairing that with a good primary and the perk that give 15% fire rate on weapon switch might be good for kill rooms
I'd only ever use this in a weird engineer build where the bots are doing most of the lifting alongside sentry guns. Even then they'll all probably outperform you and the grenade.
I’ve only played the demo but I challenged myself to beat it with zero synergising (if that’s even a word) perks, no ability usage, and a grey kaboom only. It was fun but I’m sure if I had to go to any of the other areas it would have sucked
The one stat that ruins this is no explosion on direct hit. The long fuse time and awkward aiming are also pretty bad, but if you had explodes on direct hit then it wouldn’t be direct shit
I've seen the kunai video, and wanted to know is that the most broken OP build in the game, or is there another? I know a lot of people say engineer with buddy bot is. If its not kunai, would you be willing to make a video on what you believe is the most broken/OP build in the game is?
If i were to change the kaboom granades i would 1. Let it direct impact. The fact it can't is sooooooo bad. Like, this one change would make the weapon kinda fun. 2. I personally can't tell the difference between holding the attack down and just tossing it. If there is one, it doesn't matter, so, why not let the player just keep on tossing? Change holding down from a charge up to just constant grenades? If these 2 changes were made, im certain this weapon would be fine.
Holding the button down let's you throw it further but I see no scenario where you would want that because aiming with it is already akward enough thanks to the detonate delay. I would change holding to "prime" the grenade, like you would in some other shooters.
Poor Kaboom Grenade, it's a pretty decent weapon with annoying drawbacks, it doesn't have to explode on contact but even if it rebounded on collision it would make it far better, at least then you'd be able to adjust your positioning and such.
Hear me out the grenade is trash but the power gloves are totally horrible. If you could I would love to see a run with power gloves I've only been able to beat G3 and not G4 with them only as iris tends to kill me on 2nd stage l. Also if you do try I recommend guardian as the boss is nearly impossible without the Sheild to get close to and do enough damage

Short answer you used it wrong but you definitely already knew that based on the commentary. But man nitro fragments megaboom and baby boom and using them to stack up rocket jumps, so then you spend most of the time soaring above everything dropping death upon the world can be fun as hell.
I just can't believe this thing isn't an impact or sticky grenade. at the very least we should be able to cook the grenade so it can explode in the air! someone at RyseUp is trolling with this one.
Honestly, I thought you were going to use commando for this and not recon. I’ve done my own testing and commando SHREDS entire rooms by spamming this thing. So yeah. Kaboom grenade is no longer the worst weapon in my eyes.

I did a Kaboom Grenade run a few days ago. It was a lot of fun but I had to use a different weapon for Sir Catercoaster.

Yeah recon kaboom run is the worst thing you can possibly do to yourself except for a level 1 starter weapon only no gold.
Jigsaw box is pretty good considering you never reload the weapon... but you never stopped to consider it.

How about you try a guardian 4 melee run next. Any melee would be cool to see cause melee is pretty hard to use

my first weapon card was actually from kaboom grenade, i found it a good weapon for ground enemies.
Why is Ur start HP is 180? U have earn perk in workshop for +40 and still have 180. When the defaul hp is 200?
