Got thrown out of this gig at 15 yro on my arse by the notorious Apollo bouncers.
Was doing the ticket out the window into the ally scam. This amused the biker crew outside (Edinburgh i think you know who you are) so much they bought me chips (Mr Chips anyone?) and plied me with beer then bought me a ticket. Can't remember Tank but the volume was so much, haha glad i found this recording. Amazing night, met the band after, they always had time.

Can't fault the original and best line up, Kilmister, Taylor, Clarke. Just 2 months later, Eddie would leave the band and they would never get that growling Fender Strat sound back, and they never sounded the same IMO.

Thanks for the upload. Radio Clyde, who recorded and broadcast this originally, set up River Records to release selected live sets from their archive. Some were licenced to other labels. I was pleased to add Gillan, Girlschool, and Nazareth CDs to my collection, but the one I really hoped for, and which never materialised, was this. Being recorded for radio broadcast, rather than being lifted from the soundtrack of a video release, this would have made more sense as the bonus disc to the Iron Fist deluxe edition than Toronto. Maybe one day it'll get the official release it deserves.

Am i right thinking they had speakers on the floor along the front of stage ? Was in the stalls for this show. Also remember the support, Tank, were godawful and didn't last long before being booed off ? Or am i just old now 🤣
my first ever concert was Motorhead on this tour at Portsmouth on the 3rd April after this gig. Still can't forget the noise and love that they are still as good all these years later. No Class? No!!!! Pure Class!!!!!
I can't stop thinking about the fact that the day after they played this concert they will have heard that Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist Randy Rhoads died. Weird too since this venue is the same place Ozzy and Randy first played live together.
The first ever time I saw Motorhead was on this same tour, as an 18 year old Punk Rocker. Was at Birmingham Odeon. A disgusting all-seated venue. I saw them there once more in 1984, and two Damned gigs. I refused ever to set foot in any gigs there again, no matter who was playing - SLF, Siouxsie, Metallica. I was so glad to see it revert to a cinema. Even when living in Tyneside, I refused to see them at Newcastle City Hall. Not even when the Damned, UK Subs or Anti Nowhere League were supporting. I support 100% and stand with all ruddy-cheeked, walrus-tached, retired colonel, Tory voting, checky-jacketed types to get Punk and metal groups barred from all seated venues.

This was my very first gig I went to,been to many over the years,it all started here and for all that,the most memorable.
Iron Fist is so powerfull. I really love this song. Motörhead at his best.

Good set - you know, Iron Fist had a bad rap, even from the band, but you take it in context, it was a good album - just not as good as the previous releases in many respects - Overkill, Bomber and the Ace of Spades were sublime studio albums and Motorhead had its charms too But, yeah Iron Fist as a stand alone album was pretty good me thinks!
Anyways - on to a selfish thing - any Motorheaders and rockers into bass and guitars - give my channel a look, lots of Motorhead style bass and guitars - I could do with the support folks! haa haa!
