In this video titled EU4 - What if Europa Universalis 4 Started in 867? we take a look at what would happen if EU4 had 867 borders / what if EU4 started in 867. In this video I use the Extended Timeline mod to start a campaign of EU4 in 867, the start date of Crusader Kings 3. As you can probably guess this scenario resulted in some pretty funny shenanigans. Obviously you would expect that nations with the highest development would dominate, but did it really turn out that way? This whole run was controlled by the AI only without my interference and it yielded some pretty interesting results to be honest. So, after watching this video you will know what would happen if Iberian Regions were united in 1444. What is the next "What if" scenario that I should do? Leave a comment below! Dinosaur cavalry and club warriors at tech 0.00004 is overpowered.
The Extended Timeline mod has a system for Medieval kingdoms to split based on Gavelkind succession, which is probably why nations like Lorraine and Provence showed up.
Sadly a lot of real nations don't spawn. I've attempted to create Castile and it never happens

Kinda funny how Hungary has the cross in its crest when they aren't even chrisitan yet, but i guess the mod team has a lot of timelines to work on so these details aren't added in yet.

it might also come from the limitations of country tags; if I remember correctly, 9th century Hungary uses the same country tag as a modern one, which would also explain Korea's flag
Maybe they should add a decision for Hungary witch makes them change from nomadic people (to a principality and then) to a kingdom, also they are commonly referred to in this time period as the magyar tribe, but again, this is a lot of work to do for only 1 country and there are so many others to focus on...
@@maxwellentertainment914 It could be done. CK does it. Nomadic Hungarians are called "Magyars" (which ironically is "Hungarians" in hungarian xd)

Just more blob but with the map in different colors and different time-line, I would like to see some empires collapse, but I reckon that would be a pain to code

@@-Faris- The Cathars differ much more from the Catholic church than Protestants. You weren't allowed to marry, have sex or have children. You weren't allowed to kill animals. The Old Testament was seen as the scripture of an evil god different from the god of the New Testament.
But you're right they were alike to Protestants because they didn't preach in Latin and because they were repulsed by the excesses of the Catholic Church of their time.

Another suggestion for a "What if": what if EU4 started a year earlier? When the Crusade of Varna hasn't happened yet, Wladyslaw was still king of Poland, Lithuania, Hungary AND Croatia. What would happen if he survived? Think of how Europe would look like if that happened!

I'm so sad you missed the HRE getting established by Germany. It's one of the coolest features in Extended Timeline and the AI never does it
"Lorraine" is just "Lotharingia" in French. It's funny that it's two different nations in game

"CK3 start date" has CK2 religions instead of CK3.
CK3 religions don’t import to EU4 as well as CK2’s do, which are already coded to transition in the game

Not going to lie, I don't really like the Extended Timeline mod. I mean, it's fun to see more timelines and that sort of thing, but this mod just doesn't handle it well, especially as the game progresses on.
They do work on it though, you can for example form the hre, ai doesnt do it though

Burgundy inherited lands in Lotharingia but Burgundy at this time is considered to be to the south of Lotharingia in the lands currently held by Italy.
We still didn't got "Maratha empire in 1444", but they are trying. 👍

Hey Hawk, the Hazars actually were not jewish from the getgo but the turkic people moved there and If I remember correctly there were a jewish population and since they were surrounded by the most popular monotheist religions they did not want to embrace them because they would succumb to those nations so the jews invited them to their religions and they became jewish. Feel free to correct me this is just what I remember whilst I researched that timeline history some years back. Also that nation somehow disappeared all of a sudden and no one knows exactly why they did not get conquered

rise of islam start date is a very fun one, ive played it quite a bit and it is extremely variable, at least with my lack of a lot of dlc, dont know how it interacts with all at once

This mod is so historically inaccurate. Denmark wasn't united, and Germanic and Norse are the same religion.
What would have happened if eu4 started in 600. It would be fun to see the Byzantine at there near peak and see if they can retake France from the lombards and if they can survive the arabs

Uh, The Red Hawk, I have a suggestion for you. Once you get to Desmond (the strongest Irish nation, btw), create a potato union. How do you do that? Simple. Conquer Ireland, Idaho, the Baltics, and Peru (the birthplace of potatoes). Okay maybe not _that_ simple but it's an idea anyway!

khazars where jewish or turkic-jewish to be more precise i belive. And if im not mistaken some went to either Latvia or lithuania later on and lived there and still does with some different culture compared to other jewish and turkic people, but as I said im not sure it was khazars that went there

also, a lot of the nations popping in where larger ones were is due to government type, the salich monarchy splits the nation for each heir to have land once the ruler dies
