In this video titled EU4 - What if GERMAN REGIONS Were UNITED in 1444? we take a look at what would happen if German Regions were united in 1444 / what if German formable nations existed at the start of EU4. In this video I created all the German formable nations such as, Bavaria, Swabia, Prussia, The Netherlands, Westphalia and others, and some nations from 1444 like Brandenburg and Saxony stuck around too! As you can probably guess this scenario resulted in some pretty funny shenanigans. Obviously you would expect that The German Nations would dominate, but did it really turn out that way? This whole run was controlled by the AI only without my interference and it yielded some pretty interesting results to be honest. So, after watching this video you will know what would happen if German Regions were united in 1444. What is the next "What if" scenario that I should do? Leave a comment below! A lot of Austrias mission tree requires the HRE, leading to the bohemian and Hungarian PU's being impossible from them.
yea the exclusion of the HRE made this what if a lot less interesting
It certainly is an odd choice to go “You know what would go great with this ‘what if’ scenario in the German region? Taking away THE most important mechanic of the German region!” (of course, this could work with the angle of “what if the HRE didn’t exist,” but that’s not the focus here, is it?)

It gives huge bonuses to Austria, they're supposed to be all relatively the same power, Austria will had twice the army limit of anyone in the region.
It requires lots of little princes, no one will pass reform because the imperial authority will be in shambles.

You can do "what if the bulgarian empire existed in 1444". It had lands form ukraine to southern greece so it could be interesting
SO close to a unified Germany. A player could have absolutely formed Germany in those last 50 or so years.
I don't know is it possible or not, you should try 'What if no alliances can be formed?' in next videos.

Why don't you go into the other spectator mode, the one in which you can easily switch between nations without having to open the console every time and without disabling their AI (so you can unpause and watch from an AI perspective)?
I think it'd be cool, cause we could more easily distinguish their and their enemies' troops during wars, and access much more data about the countries.
To access this mode you just need to click exit to menu while in observer mode, and then select spectate instead of quit

its kind of funny, the game mechanic does the same thing to Germany as it did to the balkans. Everyone ignores ottomans and fights each other.
I like how Flanders conquered Wallonia and was like "my job is done here"

I try to start a game like yours by forming the German regions but leaving a few cities free in the holy empire. but i am facing a problem to train hanover and wesphalia, i have to be tech 10, how did you do it ? Because if i make them pass tech 10 it is obvious that they will have a certain advantage 😅
I think the Flanders PU fizzled because Netherlands was occupying their capital so Saxony couldn't enforce the Union.

Don't know if someone mentioned already, but the Netherlands had more troops than Saxony at the end there 190~K from what I saw.

Ok here's what i think will happen:
1) Prussia gets steamrolled by Poland.
2) Either Saxony or Pomerania expand and ally with Poland's rivals.
3) Poland gets clusterducked by the Ottomans and probably Moscovy.
4) Either Saxony or Pomerania help steamroll Poland and retake Prussian lands
5) Either Saxony or Pomerania will reform into Prussia.
6) Prussia will probably take Silesia and Austria might take Bohemia.
7) Either Prussia or Austria will dominate to form Germany without the safeguard of the HRE

It seems that without a semi-united Germany under Austria a massive power gap in central Europe happened and without a strong Austria the Ottomans pushed farther into the Balkans, Poland with Russia to their east and the Ottomans to their south could not contest them either, and the Ottomans had a very good game with almost all of the Southern half of Poland-Lithuania

3rd vid of asking for You should do a “What if Islam never took off as a caliphate” and have it so most of Arabia is under an Islam state, but Persia is zoroastrian and still strong, Anatolia is divided up between the Sultanate of Rum, Byzantium, and a few other minors, and that Byzantium still owns greece, Macedonia and Bulgaria, but Egypt is still under islam but in a seperate country from the Caliphate. And also the Levant should have a Cristian Israel and Lebanon, but has a few Turkic ( north and northeast) and islamic (south and southeast) kingdoms surrounding them. One more thing is that the Steppe regions should still be like a tengri faith from the mongols. I think it would be a cool game.
Why did you split the Saxons between Saxony and Brandenburg?
He claims it's because Brandenburg and Saxony are Both formable Nations, despite the fact that Brandenburg is not a formable nation although it does share missions with Prussia.
What if Europe was broken (sort of like each province is a nation) and North America/South America were united as they are today?

That moment when Paradox still has Prussian as a Germanic culture when only the minority upper class were by 1444.
Historical alternate history that could have led to the scenario?
Henry v of the HRE instills more diplomacy in his son Frederick the first to the vast quarrelsome empire and many lands to balance.
Frederick the first while still a great warrior, becomes not so arrogant.
When Henry v the electors chose the son Frederick as opposed to Lothair as emperor.
The Gwelf and ghibilline civil war doesn't break out spilling over into emperor versus Pope sentiment.
Frederick and the Pope get along better.
Frederick and the Pope align to keep the northern Italian states in check against the sovereignty of both the emperor and Pope of Italy.
Instead of Lothair of Saxony expanding saxony and gobbling up smaller states, Frederick does the same instead.
Frederick being king of many other states, consolidates various states into regional national cultural states. He puts family members on those thrones ensuring his dynasty will always be emperor.
Frederick doesn't waste so much time in the northern Italian campaigns and focuses more time on reforming the empire. Due to unified German control. It was his loss of Saxon support that caused him to lose against the Lombards. And it was that loss of support that caused him to split up Saxony.
Saxony does not get split up and dissolved due continuous contention between swabian and Saxon rulers.
To maintain peace in the HRE and prevent civil war within the empire and And stop aggression from outside the empire going in, he reforms dutchie and Kingdom inheritance that no dutchy or kingdom within Germany can rule over other German subjects.
The last of open territory becomes a mad dash for legitimacy and power over their neighbors by whoever can get the most support from the Fredericks Salian dynasty over the next century.
Do curb German unified aggression, most other countries adopt primogeniture to keep from weakening against the German states.
France remains as it is due to long-held salian law.
Spain remains as it is due to the eventual reconquista.
After the fall of the Lombard League, the northern Italian states let go of their independent Republican ideals and turn to in alliance of strong monarchies to consolidate their own regions to curb against imperial and papal bullying.
With long-term peace in the empire, the German states choose a path of not interference and isolation from the rest of Europe as consolidated countries become far more difficult to invade.
The Balkan states became become a series of buffer states and buffer wars between Muslim East and Christian West.
Through Turkish diplomacy and dealings, they are able to turn the Bulgarians against the Byzantines. In an amazing surprise attack, Bulgarians help the Turks cross over and they split up Byzantine territory. On the night of victory, the Turks assassinate the Bulgarian royal family and assimilate their territory.
As the German states become the stronger and wealthier , and exhausted from the wars in the Balkans, they no longer need the HRE to protect them and is about abolished upon the death of the last emperor.
With the death of the last emperor, the Byzantine empire loses The last of its great allies keeping the Turks out of Constantinople.
The German authority over the three Romes (Rome, Byzantium, and the imperial Capital is over) And the Turks can finally finish their conquest with the Byzantine capital no longer protected.

I like when I can cajole these nations into existing as france, because they make wonderful marches for my french empire once it's hit its natural end at the rhine. fits roleplay as well to keep germany divided and french power dominant.
