Don't know how this video showed up in my recommendations but I'm glad it did, your car sounds amazing. As an European I'm glad old BMWs are not loved just in Europe.
When my 540/6 needed control arms and had a whiny diff I found a complete rear subframe with new arms at the junkyard off an automatic during a 50% off day. Dropped the whole thing on the ground and paid something like $190. Took just over an hour to swap it in my car. Got a 540 wagon that I swapped a 6 speed into that already had the 3.15 so I knew what I was getting into. Best bolt on mod for cheap IMO.
hi nice video , i just custom made a 3.15 lsd for my e38 740 2.93 ratio , just wanted to ask you after i ll change it i will have any error in my dashboard because of the ratio change ?
@@BurninGas8.1 did you take your traction control module out, losing your abs in the process? or do you still have abs.. debating if I'd rather take a welded diff over an open 3.15 since it sounds like they have the same drawbacks
@@BurninGas8.1 Sounds so sweet! I currently own a '97 540, automatic. I did a ton of little things to it that all E-39s need after 20+ years- cooling system replacement, valve cover gaskets, etc. The '97 non-vanos engine doesn't seem to suffer the timing chain guide issues the vanos engines do, but I can't say that for sure because I've only owned one. Good luck with the project!

Yea its much better then the 2.81s
I have this mod ,but it was free with the car when the transmission was swapped for a manual
Great video, thumbs up for talking and sharing the info.... Are you running a short shifter? If so, which one?
Made it myself
Did you ever resolve the traction control light issue? Your DSC needs to be programmed for the 3.15 diff
Yes I used my scan tool to reset the abs and traction works fine

Hey, what is the differene in acceleration from 0-100? Original is 6.2 and with this 3.15 Diff is it like 1 second better?
Probably the 3.15s eat the gears much quicker
Sahhhhweet!
Perfect car good on fuel and good power
