Hi Due to having a DL seat on our Pan I insisted in the 18inch wide pillion seat and DL were a bit reluctant to cut back 2inch on the riders wing, as they stated the comfort to bottom cup was reduced by 25%. But more then happy for me and Katrin can rider all day. What I did find was jacking the suspension to 3/4 high made the bike about 1inch higher which has not been an issue. DL seats are a love them or hate them. Have lent my Pan seat out many times and 30 miles is not enough to decide, do a two week trip 3000 miles trip then you relize you can only travel as far as the pillion.
I love the RDL seat that Russell made for my 2018 tour...from my measurements and pictures Russell got it right...with a 30" inseam I have no problem with my feet getting to the ground at stops. The only time I need to slide forward to the nose of the seat is when maneuvering the bike at walking speeds like in a parking lot. Its well worth the effort and wait to have a Russell seat built to fit you.
I’ll be following this, had a couple of daylong seats on a GS BMW and my RT ,when my sweetie started riding with me ,the reach to the ground for me became an issue ,sold the Rt now have 2020 gold wing. The stock seat only good for about 45 minutes before starts getting uncomfortable .I also have 30 inch inseam and can flat foot now ,very interested to see how the new seat works 🧐🧐🧐ride safe over there....
Hi Brian sorry late reply holidays, yes RDL did supply there own 1xbottle leather wax which lasted about 8yrs, then just used a good quality leather solution make. Only lightly waxed seat about twice a year, and its still perfect never gets damp with rain over night. And RDL heated seat unit still working fine. Nice to hear from you Marcus

I found the sound quality very low. Was very interested but could not follow it.
Just got an RDL for the 23 Wing. What if anything do you use to keep it looking new?
