Instead of “Don’t cling so hard to your possessions” it should say “The blood in my heart boils over”. And instead of “For respect makes empires fall’ it should be “Slaves (Or oppressed ones) arise, arise”
The subtitles for the first part is wrong, it should say "the blood in my chest is boiled over" insted of "you have nothing if you have no rights". The lyrics are from english version, the mandarin lyrics are different.
I have no problem with using music written by a Trotskyist, the idea of letting the left get divided by squabbles which took place a hundred years ago pains my everything.
Basically this is the hours before the Nanchang Uprising. Many Kuomintang troops joined this uprising as they switched sides to the CPC following the April 12th incident.
That circle symbol wasn’t the symbol for KMT at that time but is the symbol for the collaboration government in the first Chinese united front between KMT and the communist. This movie scene was during the white terror time period in ShangHai where Chiang’s troops massacred thousands of communist sympathizer, starting the first Chinese civil war. The civil war will be put on halt until 1945 due to the Japanese invasion. Then we all know what happened, Chaing lost and CPC won.
It's as if the commander faced a question, where will you stand?

Because the specify subtitle is from English the internationale
They tried using billy brags version, which is widely accepted as the English version now.
@@comrade3537 Yeah but it’s not the proper translation
@@comrade3537Brag’s version really really sucks. In meter, it’s horrible, in message, it’s pacified, and in substance, it borders frankly on bourgeois
@@hiera1917 I know, which is why I use the American English version, much better in my opinion.

That's the real lyrics!
It's actually the Billu Braggs version, and there's a reason for that, since the popular frontism failed resulting in the Shanghai Massacre

What is going on here? What movie is this from? Why is a communist anthem being played over shots of Kuomintang soldiers?
Because aliance with KMT before was traicioned by chiang kai chek
Basically this is the hours before the Nanchang Uprising. Many Kuomintang troops joined this uprising as they switched sides to the CPC following the April 12th incident.
The Chinese Red Army originated from the KMT army.
This was one of the CCP's revolts against the Kuomintang, so they had Kuomintang uniforms since technically they were Kuomintang soldiers at the time.
That circle symbol wasn’t the symbol for KMT at that time but is the symbol for the collaboration government in the first Chinese united front between KMT and the communist.
