Really nice review. The extra strap is, when you wear the main strap crossover. With the extra strap you can fix the bag on the back an go on a bicycle.
I love messenger bags; they're quick & easy to take on/off, they're easy to access, they're generally thief-proof (since your hand always drifts near the bag) and, like you said, they're versatile. My main problem with them is that, if you're a traceur like me and do a lot of running & jumping, the shifty weight can throw you off balance a lot of the time. This bag seems to have solved that issue.
Very nice! I'll have to get one. I've had a difficult time finding a decent 17" laptop bag I like. The 5.11 bag seems much less bulky than the gigantic 17" laptop bag offered by Maxpedition.
Great review, I've been looking for a bag to replace my old crappy firefly backpack, this one seems to fit the bill perfectly. Loads of space, now I can get all my books and my laptop stored with some style while I'm in school, trying to learn something about engineering. Oh btw I subscribed, great vid.
Great review. I've been looking for something to replace the little blue softside cooler that I carry to work as my lunchbag/EDC. Its about a "grey man" as you can get but I find that I need more room and it doesn't allow me to carry my iPad. This is perfect and the laptop pocket would be perfect for a lunch compartment. Really like the concealed carry pocket on the back as that's another logistics issue with the current setup. Found one on Amazon for $81. Ordering it now.

Quick question.. Which color is this particular bag? I have looked on the link that you've provided but I don't see this color. The options are sandstone, OD Trail, Double Tap, and Black. Can't quit find this one. It looks a little darker than the sandstone.
