Extraordinary performace shown right here. The Cure hands down is definitely one of my all time favorite bands. I love this version of 100 Years, this is straight up raw and grimy right here. Robert Smith gets down on the guitar and Andy Anderson is killing it on the drums. This version of 100 years has that haunting surreal feeling to it where you feel like everything dark and haunting is gonna close in on you lol. Im still amused and impressed to know that The Cure had a brotha with them 2.
Thanks Vilchiscure. It would be wonderful if you were able to especially if it is the Peel session. I know that this particular song is a favourite of many Cure fans. It is also the 'missing link' on my TH-cam Cure playlist.(!) Best wishes Andy.
@JoshL88 Well, this is not Norman Fisher-Jones but Derek Thompson of SPK: "After leaving SPK, Thompson had done a very brief stint with the Cure (a position he got after apparently meeting Robert Smith in a bar who apparently asked him what colour was his bass guitar and Derek replied 'Black'). He only played one show with The Cure, which was The Oxford Road Show in April, 1983 and later appeared on the writing credits of the Lullaby CDV and the Pictures Of You 12"."
@version150 The guy on bass is Norman Fisher-Jones, he did a couple of shows with them i think. He now goes by the name Noko and plays guitar in the reformed lineup of Magazine!
@artemusprine Yeah, you're definitely right about that. Andy Anderson was a beast on the drums during his time with The Cure despite his shortcomings leading up to his departure. He also spoke of an incident where Robert and the band being asked backstage for an Interview before a gig in Germany, whether the reason for having a black guy in the band was to do with the fact they mainly wore black clothes. Disgusted, Robert and the band abruptly ended the interview and left after hearing that.
Hm I really want to hear Just One Kiss as I read that Smith wanted to have that song instead Let's Go To Bed as a single. But oh well, the pornography album is like a true masterpeace and it's so unique. This song just represents the whole album the best I think. The psychedelic sound at the beginning.. I love it so much!
now this is creepy to see. I'd heard about this appearance for years but to finally see it. Stuff from 1983 is pretty hard to come by. talk about an identity crisis....
Not as good as the Cure track 'Just one kiss' for me. Could anyone post a video for 'Just one kiss' as I am surprised to find that it is not already on youtube? Many thanks.
since no one has answered these comments i guess i will Lol Laurence Tolhurst left the band and sued for royaltys as did their drummer Andy Anderson i duno why it had to end in Court but yeah but 83 was a PRIME LETHAL TIME
"originally this was a promo for let's go to bed, and we were supposed to do songs from let's go to bed, but at the last minute we changed it and did songs from pornography, much to everyone's horror".
@BlackMale84 There's always a "brotha" in there somewhere, just never getting the credit they should get... Not from the band, just the ignorant press.
I like it when Rob is drunk. Some of his best performances...

It's Derek Thompson. The only one show he played with the Cure. The Oxford Road Show was in april 1983.

Unique guys.
@JoshL88 The bassist isn't Noko. He is called Derek Thompson
I used to do a good impression of Robert Smith saying "at the last minute we changed it and did songs from Pornography... much to everyone's horror".
mega doły....:)

@AppleOracle What do you mean? I saw that film, and i haven't noticed any cure related thing.

That s great that they picked this one instead, the crowd seems so uncool
where is the power of album version?
John Lockejh My thought exactly!
Hmm... It's definitely not Simon and I don't think it's Phil, either. A session bassist, maybe?
