Iv got same manifold. Standard cat , bjt powerflow middle section (non res) into a resonated cobra backbox. I love the look of the cobra and it sounda great! Crackle and pops but no droan. In fact on motorways you wouldn't know its got a box on it . Love your car mate and videos!!!
Hi Jamie, thanks for the comment. Ahh ok so it does just re confirm the big issue is the fact mine is a non Res centre section. I have a Backbox but the straight pipe before it is just horrible for normal driving. It's honestly like the exhaust has fallen off
@@DriveWithAndy yes mate if you put a resonator in that it will sound really nice! Haha makes you feel abit embarrassed dont it? The miltek mani makes a huge difference though have u noticed the car feels smoother through the rev range and more responsive??
@@jaymechanic1228 yeh I do think I could feel it rev a little faster and smoother. Not a great deal of more grunt. But I am very interested in when I go back the rolling road place again maybe in say a month to get a few miles in to bed in and see the difference in readings
Its not the manifold or the cat i have both sounds like you fitted a non resonated back box i did the same so changed to a miltek resonated back box still sounds great and pops just with out the loud drone sound on motorway

Love it! I actually ended up removing my sports cat because it was too loud and to my surprise when I put the original cat back on the car drove so much better. I have DS hyper r map too. Definitely recommend a custom map with the cat!
If I don't think IL do any mods for a long time I might look at a remap. Next week the car is going back for a resonator to be installed so hopefully that will remove the deep bassy drone inside the car

Resonators won’t baffle sound too much but will dull down drone mine opens right up when on it but cruising around u can get it to not drone at all but mine ain’t too bad at all was thinking of de resing my piper but I won’t
Yeh been hearing good things about having a resonator installed. Yeh honestly you may want a bit more noise but it's the drone from inside that's horrible. Probably a big part of it is these being NA cars compared to turbo cars, they seem to have more subdued exhausts

Only just found your channel so sorry if it's obvious but you swapped to a Milltek after? Fair enough and Tony Banks / Longlife exhausts seem pretty good but I'd likely get a valved one for safety unless willing to go back and forth to get it just right
I have a scorpion catback and it’s nuts 4” tip. But I think the main reason we see so many people moan about “drone” on these old cars it’s due to sound insulation. These are cheap old cars that have near to no insulation on the rear end, never heard a good exhaust not drone.
True. First thing I'm gonna do is have a small resonator fitted to the centre section to help reduce the deep drone. Then may add a bit of sound deadening in the boot if needed. If it was just a car driven now and again I'd probably leave it in this bonkers loud state but can't as currently use the car every week. Mad thing is the sound out the back sound spot on, just the immense drone in the cabin
Oh yeh honestly it's a loud set up. It would probably be perfect if it didn't have the sports cat. Going to try a non Res Milltek as tried a res on this custom one and made no difference so seems it's the Backbox that isn't to my taste

Wownt be enough for this drone. Doesn't come across on camera, but in person it's really loud, the bassy drone is just too much. After the resonator is in then if still bad IL do some sound stuff in the boot
@@duncanford77 is it resonated or straight pipe? If the car was just for a blast now and again for weekends I would leave it. But it's still a car I use for nipping to work or the shops as well so it's unlovable like this with no resonator

How about getting one of those valve systems fitted?

Yeh the custom backbox was just too big and had no baffling so it was just loud allllll the time

Why not just put some sound deadening in the car?

@@DriveWithAndy I have the miltek back box on mine and it can be very annoying on the motorway. Luckily I don’t use it for motorways much.
