    Open that lid during startup and shut it after the smoke clears, you run the risk of blowing the lid open if not. Seasoned Austin XL user here. Just wanted to help. Keep on smoking buddy.

    Thank for the information I was just about to buy one today at Walmart but wanted to see what people like you thought. I was going to either get the pro series or the one you have. Now that you have mentioned the problem I’m just about sure it’s an issue with all of them.

      Well I'm happy that you found my video useful in your decision but before you completely turn your back on the pitboss when the issue came up pitboss was insanely quick to send me out the new part and it's been working flawlessly ever since

    The P settings only work on smoke setting. They don’t for the other temps. There’s a few things to fix up on these but once done, they’re decent smokers.

    Nice video. The broiler is not a feature only on the Austin XL. I think all Pit Boss barrel type cookers have it. In fact several other manufacturers do too. Some of the more expensive models have an external handle to open and close though. Don’t like that you have to lift a grate and manually slide it. I just picked up the PB Pro Series 1600 from Lowes. It has a broiler with external handle for easy opening and closing. Can’t wait to burn in and get going. I am a Traeger guy and still have my Ironwood 650, but wanted another grill that was larger with more features. Hence the PB 1600.

      When I 1st got the smoker, pitboss pretty much said this is the only grill that had it, so at the time it was, but you know this was 2 years ago Even my dad's new pitboss has it and it's a lot easier to open and close.

    Just make sure you get to know your smoker before the warranty is up. I've had mine for a little over a year now and it's been nothing but a headache. They'll send parts, (I'm waiting on a new control board now) but I hadn't planned to work so much for this company. I appreciate the parts, don't get me wrong, but the amount of time, food and pellets that have been wasted because of misdiagnosed symptoms is truly a shame.

    Let us know what the end result is one the error code issue has been resolved. I am in the market for a new pellet grill. I had two Traeger grill, the tailgater and 575 . Tailgater was great and went I upgraded to the 575 was disappointed and returned it. The Pitboss Autin XL is a great optionm but the error code issue is concerning.

    Was that code popping up because it was at 500 degrees and you set it to 300 so it was way hotter then it needed to be

    • @VinniesKitchenYt
      @VinniesKitchenYt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It wasn't getting hotter than it was supposed to be the probe inside the grill was flawed from the factory so it would read a hotter temperature than it normally would

    • @VinniesKitchenYt
      @VinniesKitchenYt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry for the late reply but I've noticed that as well with my pitboss it doesn't billow smoke but you still get the smoke ring so maybe it's just more efficient in pellet consumption... 🤷‍♂️ its weird lol

      @@dogman807 0P is more heat less smoke (around 210) and 7P is more smoke and less heat (around 160). The way it works is the amount of seconds on and off time of the auger so at setting 0 the interval waiting between putting pellets in the cup is a lot less than 7 and of course increases the wait time as you go from 0 to 7 hence why you get more heat on the lower setting and less smoke.
