Yes, I took the opportunity to let Bart Ehrman tell us what Elijah (Eliyahu/Ilyas) means, which in and of itself damages the Islamic narrative severely. Let me know what part you liked the most.

The Koran portraits a very sneaky nasty Jesus that laughs at someone else's demise the person who gets crucified in his place. That's not like Jesus at all. But this might appeal to a certain type of violent person who might think it was a clever thing to do.

Funny. Muslim is an arabic word which means submission to God. I think Bart Ehrman does not understand the arabic language. If you were to interpret the arabic word "muslim" to english, I think he would definitely accept that Jesus would have submitted himself to God if he was alive today. Or that the only female name in the Koran is Jesus mother's name, Miriam and that she was said to have never sinned, never had original sin and her physical body went into paradise? And that Jesus, he was given the names, the WORD of God, the SPIRIT of God, and the CHRIST? And how Did Allah create the universe? By his WORD. Who is the WORD? JESUS. So Jesus Is GOD. Right? He's more important in the Koran then Muhammad is. More is said about him. And in Koran it says follow the Old testament and the Gospels which say Jesus is God and died for your sins. 🇺🇸

      EX-MUSLIM ,SOMALI:
---As a former Muslim, I left Islam after I realized that it is not a religion, but a malicious, evil, brutal, poisonous and deadly ideology that kills the mind and thought before the soul. And wherever Islam is, ignorance, hatred, violence and murder will inevitably spread, and slavery, tyranny, oppression, deprivation and humiliation will prevail.
---Praise be to God who saved me from the quagmire of the brutal and dark Islamic religion.
---Warning and Warning: Never trust the imams of Islam and the preachers of Islam, because they use taqiyya (deception) and deliberately conceal the brutal, immoral and inhuman meanings of the surahs and verses .
---Many people do not know that the Qur’an is full of brutal verses that incite, conspire, and permit the killing of non-Muslims in general and Jews and Christians in particular.
***For example, but not limited :
The biggest proof that the Qur’an is an evil book is Surat At-Tawbah, verse 5 This verse was called by Muhammad and his companions the verse of the sword, due to its brutality and cruelty to wards non-Muslims in general.
(Kill the polytheists wherever you find them and besiege them wherever they are and do not have mercy on them...etc.)
---And the inhumane surahs and verses that describe Christians and Jews as apes, pigs, and improvement.
---Many people do not know that the Qur’an is full of immoral surahs and verses that incite, conspire and permit prostitution.
      ***For example, but not limited:
verse of pleasure marriage or temporary marriage.
---The surahs and verses that allow the marriage of a young girl who has not yet menstruated
---And the surahs and verses that permit marriage with four women plus an unspecified number of slave women for sexual pleasure .
---And the surahs and verses that allow the master to enjoy sexually with the wife of his servant
---And the surahs and verses that permit the slave trade
---And the surahs and verses that describe women as unclean and classify them under the rank of excrement (W.C)
---And the surahs and the verses that permit the invasion and the spoils
--- Without forgetting that the god of Islam uses temptation with his followers by promising them that he will give them women, virgin girls and beautiful children for sexual pleasure, and that all kinds of sexual perversion and moral perversion are permitted in heaven Islam
---Muslims accuse other religions of being pagan religions, and they have forgotten themselves and their Islamic religion as being the source of paganism.
      ***For example, but not limited:
Culte de la Pierre Noire - Culte du Mont Arafa - Culte de Safa et Marwa - Monument à Satan - ...etc.
---There is an authentic hadith narrated by Aisha, the wife of Muhammad, the Prophet of Islam, Omar Ibn Al-Khattab, Abdullah Ibn Abbas, Abdullah Ibn Masoud and other companions of Muhammad, that the verse of stoning was present. But the paper on which was written the verse of stoning was eaten by a goat, it was not taken into consideration and it was deleted from the Qur’an .
***So this is another evidence among the millions of evidence that the Qur'an is not a divine book And it does not deserve respect or consideration because it has no credibility. Therefore, the moral duty, the human duty, and the scientific duty dictate banning this book called the Qur’an because it is harmful and destructive to all of humanity.

--- If Islam was truly a religion of God, a religion of peace and a religion of love, why did the Companions not attend the burial of Muhammad?
***Note: Many people do not know that Muhammad was a prophet who was buried only by some members of his family.
If Islam was really a religion of God, a religion of peace and a religion of love, why did the companions of Muhammad kill each other and fight each other?
      ---Example :
***The Battle of the Camel between Aisha, the wife of Muhammad, the Prophet of Islam, against Ali Ibn Abi Talib, the son-in-law of Muhammad, the Prophet of Islam, where a large number of Muslims were killed in this battle.
***The Battle of Siffin between Muawiyah Ibn Abi Sufyan and Ali Ibn Abi Talib, where a large number of Muslims were killed in this battle.
---If Islam was truly a religion of God, a religion of peace and a religion of love, why did Caliph Muawiyah order his army commander to secret Ibn Abi Arta’a besieging the city for three nights, where Muslim women were raped and a large number of Muslims were killed by Muslims?
---If Islam is truly a religion of God, a religion of peace and a religion of love, then why were the descendants of Muhammad, the Prophet of Islam, killed by Muslims?
---If Islam was really a religion of God and a religion of peace and a religion of love, why then did the Muslims star on the Kaaba and hit it with catapults and burn it completely, at the time of the Caliph Abdul Malik bin Marwan, when he sent his fortified army commander Ibn Al-Numeir who He besieged Mecca, killed its people, and destroyed its Kaaba ?
---If Islam is truly a religion of God, a religion of peace and a religion of love, then why are Muslims divided into several sects, into several groups, into several parties and into several ideologies?
      ***Example :
Sunni sect - Shiite sect - Wahhabi Salafi sect - Madkhali Salafi sect - Ibadi sect - Ahmadiyya sect - Tariqa sect The Qur'anic sect - The Bukhari sect . etc
***Note: Also, each Islamic sect is divided into several different ideological currents, which are mini-sects.
Each sect permits the killing of the other sect.
*** As it happens in all Islamic countries
---If Islam is truly a religion of God, a religion of peace and a religion of love, why do Muslims accuse each other of unbelief and polytheism?
***As it happens in all Islamic countries
---If Islam is really a religion of God, a religion of peace and a religion of love, then why do Muslims kill each other?

      Note
because of oppression, deprivation, injustice, persecution ,and because
of the restriction of individual life and collective freedoms, and because of the prohibition of freedom of expression,
and the prohibition of freedom of opinion, and the prohibition of even the freedom of creativity and even hope,
has become granted in Islamic countries, because of all this torment. Muslims fled and are still fleeing from their Islamic countries, aiming for Christian countries, that is, Western countries in general and European countries in particular, asking them for protection and residence.
And when you grant them residence and protection, They begin by describing and describing those countries that have done them well as infidels and that they are unclean.
---Isn't this denial and deception towards the benevolent countries?
---Is this not a betrayal of good people?
---These are all indications that the teachings of the Islamic religion, brutal and evil teachings, have changed the Muslim from a human to a monster and made him harmful to humanity.
---Why do Muslims not migrate to Mecca and Medina and seek asylum, residence and protection from them?
--- Why don't Mecca and Medina open their doors to the oppressed Muslims?
---In fact, the preachers of Islam and the imams of Islam are predators who take advantage of the naivety of the Europeans and exploit the European and Western laws that protect everyone, to spread the teachings of their brutal Islamic religion.
Therefore, if Western governments continue to turn a blind eye to this, then all of Europe will inevitably soon become Afghanistan-Bis Where you only see beheadings, people dragging in the streets, explosions, car bombs, slaughter, and rivers of blood, in other words killing life. And then regret is useless, because the time has passed.
--- That is why I say, as the wise men said, that the best blessing is to leave the brutal and evil Islamic religion

Great interview. Bart is thoroughly engaging, humble and just a good interview!
Bart's admission that Islam's view on Jesus were a compilation of agnostic beliefs, without coherency, reinforced the view Islam grew out of a anti Trinitarian or Christian offshoot.
The most interesting observation, that I hadn't picked up on the significance, that Islam still kept the virgin birth for someone they claim was just a human, and whose divinity they struggle with.
Again, it's inconsistencies like this that suggest an organic growth out of a general 'Renegade' Christian pool of beliefs that eventually were 'canonised' into Islam.
    Great stuff.

Adam and Eve had no father or mother. Wow! They must’ve been the literal children of God! Oh, and let’s not forget Moses splitting the red sea in two! Truly, only God can do that. Moses must be the incarnate of yahweh!

    • @lightofilm6228
      @lightofilm6228 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

@@rc6289 Jesus was born of a virgin for the same reason Moses was able to turn a staff into a snake and split the sea-to prove his prophethood. You should already know from your Bible that the Egyptians at the time of Moses prided themselves in their magic and ability to work wonders, so Allah simply gave Moses miracles that no magician could pull off, thus proving to the Egyptians and the Children of Israel that he was sent truly sent by God. Jesus lived under the Roman Empire who prided themselves in their knowledge of medicine. But no human, no matter how great their medical knowledge is, can explain a virgin birth or a baby speaking from the cradle etc, neither is there any medicine that can bring the dead back to life, create birds from clay etc. Thus, this was proof that Jesus was sent from God. Simple. To suggest that Jesus had no father and performed miracles and therefore must have been God’s son is a ridiculously simplistic way of looking at things.
Now things get interesting with the Quran-unlike these miracles of the past which you can’t witness for yourself, you can actually witness the miracle of the Quran today. Arabs at the time of Muhammad mastered the art of eloquence and poetry. That was their speciality as a society, but Allah revealed a speech like no other, His own spoken Word which is truly the greatest speech and literature to ever grace the face of the earth-m.th-cam.com/video/EqAVOHrYUfI/w-d-xo.html

      Liar.
😂 Just kidding. I completely agree. I, too, hadn't realized before the importance of Virgin birth as the agnowledgement of Jesus' divinity.
For me, being a linguist, the fact that Qur'an is filled with Aramaic words everywhere, combined with the historical fact that Jesus' language, language in which he preached, was Aramaic, is of paramount importance.
Anyway, I'm surprised I haven't yet seen the ever-universal "Liar!" from our Muslim friends here. Could it be that they are starting to comprehend the truth in videos like these? Let's hope so.

Even though Bart gets some things wrong about Jesus like the fact that Jesus wanted to rule as a worldly king, I know that Jesus' kingdom still reigns today because of what He did on the cross. As Jesus said flesh gives life to flesh but spirit gives life to spirit - so the kingdom he brought was one of the spirit so that we may have eternal life in Him. Questions in Christianity
1 - Why does God need a son in the first place?
2 - If the father and son are eternal, when exactly did the son become the son of the father?
3- Which is the most criminal? Eating from the tree that caused the original sin or killing the Son of God, as Christianity claims?
4- What is the relationship between the forgiveness of sins and the sacrifice of the Son of God?
5 - Can God forgive the sins of mankind without shedding innocent blood?
6- What is the Lord's need for incarnation? And if he incarnates, is there a need to believe in the Lord if He stands before you?
Because faith is the belief in something unseen? That is why people do not need to believe in the sun that they see every day
7- Could Jesus, peace be upon him, be a god and a human at the same time?
Can he be alive and dead at the same time? Is it possible to be knowledgeable and ignorant at the same time?
Can he be strong and weak at the same time? Can it be self-reliant and self-sufficient at the same time?
8 - Why did Jesus, peace be upon him, not say himself, not once in the Bible, “I am God” or “worship me”?
9 - Why did Jesus, peace be upon him, not say himself that God is three persons in one person?
10 - How can three hypostases be in one person? Nobody will ever understand
11- Why did the father sacrifice his son? Will he redeem people from himself? Isn't he the one who decided to torture them?
12 - Why do Christians believe that their gospels are from God? Isn't it the Gospel of Matthew, John, Mark and Luke?
13 - There are more than 80 gospels, so why were only 4 gospels approved, and who decides that?
14 - Does the Lord allow the writers of the Gospels to put their personal touch on the words of the Lord?
15 - Does the Lord incarnate after breastfeeding go to the bathroom?
16 - If Jesus, peace be upon him, is the word of God, what does it mean to crucify and kill Jesus, peace be upon him? Does this mean that the word of God has been killed?
17 - " In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ", Is there a beginning to God?
18 - When the Word became flesh and was sent to the earth, did the God Who Is above become without a word? Or there are other words ?

Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

Not only that. Jesus was called Rabbi by the Pharisee. And at that time to be acknowledge as a Rabbi by the pharesee, one must complete their religious education up to 30 years old. Jesus was a pharesee. He taugh like a pharesee, He discuss law and theology with pharesee, many of His listener were pharesee.
And it is impossible to be a rabbi without an ability to read and write.
Jesus also read from the scrolls in synagogue (luke 4). To be allowed and able to read the scroll in the synagogue and to teach of the reading, one must be considered competent in their ability to read and have a good undestanding of the text. Meaning, highly educated.

JESUS and the Jews were multilingual
▪︎"Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross.
It read: 'JESUS Of NAZARETH, THE KING Of THE JEWS'.
Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek" (John 19:19-20)
▪︎The Gospels were written in Koine Greek being the World's language in the 1st century
The Hebrew Bible was translated into Greek (Septuagint) c.200 BC for the many Greek speaking Jews
It is well known that first-century Jerusalem was inhabited by Greek speaking Jews who were at least bilingual. And Jesus most likely was trilingual apart from the ability to read minds.
So the original Gospels were written in Koine Greek and sent throughout the World..
▪︎Jewish culture was heavily influenced by Hellenistic culture, and Koine Greek was used not only for international communication but also as the first language of many Jews. This development was furthered by the fact that the largest Jewish community in the world lived in Ptolemaic Alexandria. (Wikipedia)

      12. No Christian believes the Gospels are "from" God. That is a muslim belief. They are called the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John because they were written by them.
      13. The reason other books that are called "Gospels" are not included into the Biblical canon is because, for the most part, they cant be authentically traced back to the writer they are accredited to, along with the fact that most of them are based on extra-Biblical Jewish/Christian legends and not the "Good News" (Gospel).
The rest of your questions are either too reliant on semantics or are extremely stupid. Please just consult the actual Bible, or watch some of David Wood's or Islam Critiqued's videos on these subjects.

      9. What is the purpose of rewarding believers in paradise with virgins and rivers of alcohol if allah simply made them believe?
      10. If allah is all-capable, why couldn't he protect his word from corruption like he said he would?
      11. If allah's word is eternal, why does so much of it need to be abrogated just so it can fit the western world's modern sociopolitical climate?
      12. Why did muhammed reveal Satanic verses?
      13. If muhammed is the pattern of conduct, then shouldn't we claim to be prophets, reveal Satanic verses inviting muslims to pray to pagan goddesses, rob caravans, rape children, kill disbelievers, and torture people for money?

just want to flag that thing about the Sabbath. The weekly Sabbath is friday evening to saturday as he mentioned, but there are also festival specific Sabbaths. At the time of Jesus's death, which was on the day of Passover, the next day of the Passover is always a Sabbath day, regardless of whether it is Saturday. The reason for that is the Passover is immediately followed by the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which is 7 days long, the first day and the last day is a day of rest. So it is NOT from the Bible that Jesus died on Friday.

I have read Bart Ehrman's books, owing to my interest in the theological sub-discipline of Christology (the study of what the Church has taught about Jesus of Nazareth), which attempts to account for how the 'Teacher' became the 'taught'; or the 'Preacher' became the 'one-who-is-preached'. Regardless of how lengthy and deep this debate will be, it will leave us with the same mystery, as when human beings discuss Theodicy. Bart will know that the earliest treasured 'Christian' writings were the genuine letters of Paul to the various churches: not the Gospels. Paul had his Damascene experience, probably, around 5-10 years after the crucifixion: and so would have been speaking to eye-witnesses, and those who knew eye-witnesses. Richard Bauckham is good on this in his magisterial 'Jesus and the Eye-Witnesses'. However, in addition to Paul's letters of encouragement, there were also copious treasured memories (written and oral) to which we attach the the Greek term, 'pericopes'. Quite what led to such memories being collated and redacted into Gospels is also a mystery; but may have had something to do with the failure of the 'parousia' to materialise, as predicted by Jesus: and the recognition, by the primitive Church, that it needed to collate that whic it believed about Jesus of Nazareth. However, what should be included in the collation took around three hndred years of discussion and debate. Unfortunately, during that debate, the Church appears to have lost sight of the charismatic young male Jew, who persuaded good men to drop everything and follow him, in favour of the 'Christos Pantokrator' (found in cathedral and basilica apses throughout the Christian world) who could justify the existing 'hierarchies' within society. Out went the poor man: and in came the Ruler-of-the-Cosmos! Today's Church Universal HAS to recover that young man in whom the primitive Church believed and trusted. Today's equivalent is to turn Jesus of Nazareth into an 'Identity Politician': this is the Gospel of the Bishops of the Church of England, today!

The impression I get from number 4, is that broadly speaking if someone is a good Muslim (as Muslims believe Jesus was) then god will reward them in life. The idea of Jesus being one of the greatest Muslims ever only to die a horrible death counters the notion that god provides for good Muslims, thus he couldn’t have been crucified

However, Muslims believe Muhammad was the Seal of the Prophets (most even consider him greater than Jesus even though Jesus was sinless to them and Muhammad was not) and still they believe he was poisoned and suffered at death. Also, this picture portrays God as a deceiver , which is a form of lying, so you end up throwing out the baby with the bath water.

John's gospel recorded what Jesus said to some disciples who came to him and asked him questions. His response was.. "Come n see..."
It's an invitation to see for themselves where he lived and what he did". It is a crucial moment n a definite gesture that Jesus allowed anyone to form relationship with him n his disciples. To respond we need both the intellectual n spiritual ability to make a mature decision. God doesn't compromise but definitely God is perfect to be loving, patient n faithful beyond humans' nature n comprehension. He is waiting n working in our lives but we need to be awaken in spirit to accept.
God is Spirit n hence its our spirits that communicate n relate to God.

It is in Irenaeus’ account of Basilides that we first find views parallel with the Qur’an’s account of the crucifixion of Jesus:
“Wherefore he [Jesus] did not himself suffer death, but Simon, a certain man of Cyrene, being compelled, bore the cross in his stead; so that the latter being transfigured by him, that he might be thought to be Jesus, was crucified, through ignorance and error, while Jesus himself received the form of Simon,
and, standing by, laughed at them...he transfigured himself as he pleased, and thus ascended to Him who had sent him.”
The parallels are found in Sura 4:157-158 of the Qur’an:
“And [for] their saying, “Indeed, we have killed
the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of God.” And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him [Jesus] to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they
did not kill him, for certain. 158. No! God raised him [Jesus] up to himself and God is mighty and wise.”

Bart has no right to say Jesus couldn’t write, he could read, he read in the Temple and he also impressed the Rabbis as a boy of twelve years when he was reading and explaining the scriptures to them. As for proof he could write, he wrote on the ground while being questioned by the Pharisees.
Jesus had the ability to both read and write. These abilities were demonstrated in the New Testament. In a synagogue in Nazareth He opened the scroll of the prophet Isaiah and read from a chosen part. In the story of the woman taken in adultery we find Jesus writing something on the ground that caused the religious leaders to leave Him and the woman alone.

@@torisantiago9176 l agree. Jesus wrote the New Testament by the Holy Spirit in possession of the Disciples devoted and possessed by God. But Jesus in human form didn’t write the Gospels. Jesus was as a human, highly intelligent and he did have an education of morality and he could read fluently so of course he could write. This idea that Jesus was living in poverty and of ignorance in education, writing, is based on the belief that non wealthy people had no schooling. We get the same attitude delivered as revelation and knowledge that suggests Mary was 12 year old when she gave birth to Jesus because they say poor girls were married very young in those times. Yet we know that the Gospels do not state Mary’s age, and we know that Mary was fully mature and able to give birth, indicating a mature width of pelvis. We also note what Mary said to the Angel Gabriel, and she replied “ how can l get pregnant, l know not a man”. Mary knew the meaning of those words, her words! And those are not the words of a child! Mary also said “ let this be so, as l am a servant of God”. These were not the words of a child! Yet, the wicked imply that Mary was a child! The wicked will cry in distress and regret before God, for life is short in this World.

These are unmistakably Aramaic, not Hebrew. He might have known some Hebrew too, though, but he wouldn't have had much use for it.
