    This was fantastic. In summary:
    1. Bart Ehrman does not agree with Islam.
    2. It is implausible that Jesus "brought" a scripture as the Quran claims.
    3. The New Testament is quite accurate with additions, not corruptions.
    4. Apocryphal stories found in the Quran are fabrications.
    5. Jesus was definitely crucified.
    6. Early Christians were not "Muslims," they worshiped Jesus.
    7. Jesus was always known as the Son of God in a sense.
    8. The 4 Gospels are the most authentic Gospels.
    9. Paul's Undisputed Epistles are definitely authentic.
    10. The Gospels partially agree but also disagree with the Quran.
    11. Christians until the 7th century believed in Jesus as God and/or Son of God.
    12. Jesus definitely did not predict Muhammad.
    13. Jesus and Muhammad are hard to compare.
*Muslims should stop misusing Bart Ehrman to validate their own beliefs. He doesn't agree with them at all.*

@@katebee945 well actually a story in both Matthew and Mark present conflicting accounts on the subject of Jesus' literacy. In both accounts/stories, Jesus is rejected as a synagogue teacher in Nazareth by the people of his hometown because they knew or believed he wasn't qualified for the task. In the Matthew version of events, their rejection was due to the fact that Joseph was a carpenter and, thus wasn't from an educated class that would have learned these skills to pass on to Jesus. Added with the fact that the majority of of people in the ancient world (85 - 95% estimates) at the times of Jesus, were illiterate. Those who were literate, were from wealthy, elite, upperclass families. Jesus meanwhile, is depicted as not coming from a high social class, from the small and unwealthy town of Nazareth. There is no evidence to suggest that Jesus had access to education that was not available to his social class. The Bible doesn't make any mention of how he could've learned. The story of Jesus reading from the scriptures can be interpreted as "God providing Jesus with the ability to read without having learned." But then that is a supernatural claim that can't be proven as fact anyway, like many other Biblical claims and stories.

@@battlerushiromiya651 . It seems that you are one of those who follow Bart Ehrman blindly. We Christians do not need Bart Ehrman to give us wrong information about our Lord Jesus Christ when we have reliable eye witnesses' account in the gospel and preceding prophecies in the old testament. It's atheists and muslims that need him.It is stupidity for any sensible person to leave eyewitnesses' account and start following a man who was born few years ago but ended studying to misinform people for reasons best known to him. You can be gullible to whatever Bart Ehrman says but he can't say some of these things in midst of sincere Bible scholars and Christians who know their Bible. If someone tells you that Jesus Christ the miracle worker could not read, should you believe in the first case? A smart person will not believe that but look for evidences for that but unfortunately, Bart Ehrman is A FAKE SCHOLAR and I will show you in my next post evidences that Jesus Christ was literate( it's miraculous) but because Bart Ehrman is an agnostic, he deliberately distorts the Bible. I feel worried when atheists and muslims go after this guy for information on the Bible when the account in the gospel are those of eye witnesses.

@Isaac13 Abraham The letter to the Hebrews might contradict your assumption.
The writings of the 4 Gospels were dates to at the latest 85 years after Christ. The writings of the next most textually supported ancient writing after the Bible was Homer’s Iliad. Many thousands of Christian scripture copies from within the first 100 years, with mainly “spelling” errors as Dr BE said in video. The Iliad had a little over 600 copies, but written centuries later.
You’re right Hebrew scriptures were very accurately transcribed. Christians have never argued against that.

The Quran has NOT been “faithfully copied” at all, and it was edited and changed all the way until it was standardized in 1924! The Quran is NOT superior in any way to any religious text, let alone the Bible. The Topkapi and Samarkand Qurans who have THOUSANDS of differences from the current 1924 version are two of many examples that prove this.

Because of the presence of Satan and his demons in human life the real truth of Christianity and who is Jesus got distorted.

One kept the faith and the other manufactured gossip that resulted in Catholicism and then the islam.
Catholicism and Islam is the same thing that put forth lies by force. And that resulted in your problem and ert bartman's problem to be confused.
Why then muhammad called Jesus the Kalam (Paigam of God) or kalimatullah.
And also RoohAllah meaning the Eternal life of God? That makes him God!!!
Then in another place muhammad wrote that Jesus is just a paigambar and not Paigam or kalam or message of God.
Messenger and message are 2 different things and separate in kind.
      Messenger only delivers the message.
The God of Israel became Man.John: 1: 1-14 here Jesus being the Word kalam and creator became Man the message and choose the messenger John the baptist to introduce him to the people Israel.Just like the Prophet of old brought the word of the Lord to the people and were carriers.
Muhammad was a false carriers. He just connected to the christianity railway tract a cross over line to a another tract called islam by hatred. That resulted in eternal death tract.
Today there are 2 types of christianity, the real and the false one.
Dont forget that muhammad's first inlaws were catholics and the making of islam was intentional to destroy the real christianity.
It still exists today. And you will find there the mighty miracles are still happening, the lame walking the blind are seeing the dead being raised to life in the 21st century just as Jesus promised them that he would do this through them.

After people started reading the Bible for themselves they realized how much the church was abusing their authority so the church was forced to reform. What disappointed me most, was not Bart's distortion of the Christian message, but his clever way of avoiding saying anything contrary to Islam or the Quran, even though he will be well aware of the fabrications of both! My "take away" from this is that Bart is more concerned about avoiding any 'trouble' with Muslims, than he is about giving an honest educated opinion about Islam and the Quran, however much predicated with a disclaimer of "I'm not an expert in Islam or the Quran". He could have given an educated opinion on for instance the difference between Jesus's teachings and message, from that found in the Quran, or the differences between the documented Jesus and the documented Mohammed....but he avoided doing so, because he wanted to remove himself from any criticism for giving such an opinion. Where he did give an opinion, these were so carefully crafted as to not contradict anything Islamic, that his opinions on this were virtually USELESS! - I think Bart should have been a Politician as with his Diplomatic skills, he would have excelled in any TV or Press interview, with these tactics!

You have misinterpreted the words 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?'. In fact, this statement from Jesus originated from his immense love for men and His realization that despite His suffering and sacrifice, that God's justice deprived Him of the
salvation of the reprobate and the redemption of their souls. The same can be said with Jesus' statement 'I thirst'; as much as Jesus certainly had a physical thirst, He was referring to a 'thirst' for the salvation of souls.

To say that the quran resembles the bible, because it came from God it is just a matter of belief that nobody can prove. It is like if you say that the bible is the word of God. It is purely subjective.

On oral traditions, the Gunditjmara from Australia have an oral tradition about a mountain spitting fire and local rivers moving.
They incorporate this into their local beliefs and legends, but recently it was discovered that the mountain was an active volcano that erupted 37,000 years ago.
Their knowledge of the past path of the river was also surprisingly accurate.
I'm not saying that this makes all oral traditions true, but that it certainly gives credence to the idea that oral traditions contain at least a grain of truth.
It certainly suggests that many legends may have been originally based on real world events

The only thing I will add is that when it comes to the “great diversity within early Christianity,” what is often left out of such statements is the degree to which each expression was represented. As Bart said, the four gospels of the NT are all from the 1st century and are the most authentic. Any competing “Christianity” that came later was based on a much later writing with a theology divorced from the original Jewish context, and much less represented. Consider how much more the gospels of the NT were copied and read versus any other “gospel” that came later. The gospels of the NT were far more in number by a long shot. No other deviant expression of the faith comes close in scope or degree of representation. So it’s not as if there were all these different christianities that were all equal in representation. There was definitely a core representation that was the majority by far, and deviating movements were much smaller in scale. It was the four gospels of the NT that the vast majority of Christians followed from the 1st century on.

      1. He confirms the Quran is preserved but compares its preservation to that of Mein Kamf (in other words, it’s preservation is irrelevant since it doesn’t proof anything and was the act of men).
      2. Bart only confirms that the Disciples and Jesus were Jews, not Muslims (basically Messianic Jews).
      3. Christians knew and still know this, but apply the concept of Son of God differently just like the Bible does (for the concept of Son of God doesn’t mean the same when it’s applied to prophets or angels as the Bible shows).
      4. He doesn’t say they’re false, he says that they weren’t written by Paul himself. They could still be dictated or based on what Paul said. And even with this problematic of the authorship, the other seven books of Paul are confirmed to be originally written or dictated by Paul.
Way to take things out of context you Islamist, read about Christianity before slandering it.

I still disagree with the way he categorizes the gospels, any lay person can see the difference between the writing styles of the gospel and mythical works of antiquity. He keeps suggesting (perhaps to himself) that the gospel writers were some how bound to truth, while deifying a figure they already viewed as divine. It doesn’t make sense especially since within a few decades the community had already spread hundreds of miles.

Actually Bart erhman think that literacy here mean that you can’t read and write but I don’t think so but literacy have something to do with someone who knew the law of the Jews like anyone who reach the secondary school of the Jews where these people are doctor of the law. And as Paul come from a Pharisee school where they are expert on the law unlike Peter and John who probably were just at the primacy school of the Jewish Pharisee. In that sense Peter and John weren’t educated and Peter and John as many Jews would know how to read and write. Because the Jews at the young age are trained in the religious belief by their written tradition and oral tradition

I would be worried if the 4 gospels were the same. For me, the fact that there are slight differences makes them reliable. The so-called differences is due to the fact that 4 people seeing the same event will never present it in the exact (same) words. If there were no subtle and insignificant differences, I would think it was a concerted attempt to water down the message by copying verbatim from each other. If you know a bit of history and understand oral tradition as a source of history, you certainly understand where I am coming from. If you asked two people how someone died--one would start from his collapse at home while the other may start from what happened at the hospital. The fact that one did not mention a particlar issue does not necessarily mean it didn't happen.

Apuss Bart doesn't agree with Islam since he is an atheist. He also doesn't believe that Jesus died for anyone's sins plus the Quran says:
And for their saying, “We have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the Messenger of God.” In fact, they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him, but it appeared to them as if they did. Indeed, those who differ about him are in doubt about it. ... Rather, God raised him up to Himself.

    • @1slamExplained
      @1slamExplained 2 ปีที่แล้ว

The reason why people believe Jesus died is since it appeared to them that way but certainly God saved him.
This makes perfect theological sense ie Bart himself said that it was utter nonsense that Jesus had to die for anyone's sin. And that this was invented after ie in his assumption.
