  • Fossa is a comune and town in the province of L'Aquila in the Abruzzo region of southern Italy. Bernardino of Fossa was born in the town. The 2009 L'Aquila earthquake caused a bridge to collapse[citation needed] in Fossa, and caused extensive damage to the residential buildings in the town.[3] The town was the epicentre of a major aftershock 5.4 Mw on April 7, 2009.[4]

I would love a part two to this. This I what I'd go for in Italy. If there are some restaurants, a place to have tea and a few shops and I'm good. Could wander the paths every day, discovering a new part and just have tea overlooking that view. Amazing!! Thanks Dave!

Dave you are one of the most genuine, caring guys ever! I could feel you're sadness seeing the little kids toys n books, to you all this is so personal. That's what I love about your channel! You always have respect for each and every place you go and make us, the viewer's, think about the people who lived in these homes. I loved this video and it would be great if you done a part 2.
Thank you so much Dave & stay safe xx

Still so much beauty side by side with destruction, the fear that all these people must of felt, my heart breaks, especially seeing the children's bicycles, toys and school work. Living through some aftershock of some earthquakes myself, but nothing like this brings back that feeling of dread and the horror this town experienced. Again another BEAUTIFUL and sad explore. Take good care, stay safe and thank you.❤💔✌️

Ciao Dave, this is just so terrible, it breaks my heart to see this. It's bad enough that these buildings are hundreds of years old, they are built into mountain sides, so they are double doomed when an earthquake hits. It's so hard to imagine, living through something like this. Thank you for your kind soul and compassion, looking forward to part two. Love from N.Y.

Hi Dave & Friends, Southern Italy in April 2009 when a 5.4 Earthquake came & Damaged So Much!!
This was Most Interesting & So Much to See!! I think it would be Great for you & the team to go back & Make a Part 2 !!
It`s So Good they are Trying to Save the Buildings!! I pray the People go back & Collect All Their Things!!
Furniture, Pictures, Dishes, Beds & sheets, blankets, Kids Toys & Books, Clothes, etc... The church Was Awesome!
The Bell is worth Lots of Money, & should be put back up!! The Chandeliers were Gorgeous & the Beautiful Ceilings & Piano`s!!
I would of moved the 2 chairs & the 2 pictures of Family Members in a different room, since the ceiling is about to come down!
Take care & You all stay Safe, Love You loads, from Barb from Central Illinois USA🥰😎✌❤

I've seen this church before. If I remember right it was built in the 1400's. Historic Preservationists in Italy are trying to save it with scapeling supports. Each of those niches with columns on each side had statues at one time.

Below is the worst quake I've been through and it was miles away. My hubby took off and left me and my daughter to get out of the swaying house 🙄 I grabbed her and carried her down the stairs under one arm. She was about 9 years old tall for her age and heavy. I held on to the bannister and ran as best I could. The stairs were moving under my feet I thought "this is it I'm going to die by falling into the cellar" We made it out into the front garden. Sarah said her feet never touched ground till we were outside . Surprisingly our 100+, wooden cottage had no damage. It was terrifying. I feel so badly for the people of that village. I hope they never have to suffer a quake again ❤❤
Interesting video but very sad. 😢💖
    "Earthquake
At 4:57 a.m. local time (11:57 UTC) on June 28, 1992, a magnitude 7.3 earthquake awoke much of Southern California. Though it turned out it was not the so-called "Big One" as many people would think, it was still a very strong earthquake. The shaking lasted for two to three minutes. Although this earthquake was much more powerful than the 1994 Northridge earthquake, the damage and loss of life were minimized by its location in the sparsely-populated Mojave Desert."

I have watched a few urban explores, but you, sir, are, in my opinion, the best. You seem to have a passion for what you do. And you maintain a high respect for the people and the lives that were spent in the place you explore. I am so happy I found this channel, and if I could or can, in the future, I will support it. Hello from across the pond David - thank you for showing us this city that now sits empty. Hey, while you are in Italy you really should visit the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum - they were both covered in ash in the year 79 when the volcano Mount Vesuvius erupted. Mount Vesuvius is a somma-stratovolcano located on the Gulf of Naples in Campania, Italy, about 9 km east of Naples and a short distance from the shore. Pompeii had a water system throughout the town that was way ahead of it's time for the year 79. They had public baths that had hot water, cold water and a steam room - and there were public water fountains all over the town. This was discovered when archeologists started excavating the town. I'm sure you already know about Pompeii but if you don't, exploring it would be right up your alley! Please do a video if you go there. Thank you Dave, and I clicked on the thumbs up for this video (I've been subscribed to your channel for years). I would love to visit Italy.
Please take good care of yourself, and see you in your next explore!

Oh my - such devastation. I so wish I could go through and put a hand on a wall, to try and feel the good, the bad. As you went from home to home, room to room, I so felt as if we were right there with you. All the things these families had to leave, the photos, the children’s toys, books school work. Things really can change in an instant, and to wake up to it, running to grab your babies. The Church was spectacular, I would have loved to see what it looked like before it was so damaged. As you walked over the hole, I was imaging brides coming up the aisle, christenings. Where would all these people gather to bury their loved ones and comfort each other? The bewilderment and fear. One of your better explores, even though it was all so heartbreaking. Thank you for sharing and please be safe❤

Awesome footage The Church was beautiful Just so very sad that happend homes destroyed families getting killed Glad to see them trying to rebuild. It would take months to explore the whole village All Take Care and Stay Safe I do have to say I do miss Mark exploring❤X
