I'm so glad you brought up Potion Permit! I think it's such an underrated game. The story, the characters, the world, the music, the minigames. It's one of my favorite cozy games to play!
I’ve played Potion Permit and I totally agree. After you complete the story, there’s nothing much to do. Loving Fae Farm. Wish the day was longer, especially when you’re decorating.
Yes, someone else who loves Potion Permit! I can't wait for the updates this game is getting, as I agree you do sort of hit a wall where there's nothing left to do, really. Not that I mind games with a definative ending, but I'd love to have more with this one because it's so fun!
Loved this video! Please do one every month as I really enjoy hearing you talk about all these games. The first game you showed reminded me of Farm Frenzy back in the day, but more pixelated and with less mechanics it looks like. Farm Frenzy was a PC game that had you do quests such as "obtain wheat," "make a pizza," and so on and so forth. Essentially you would keep upgrading certain machines and gaining different ingredients from your animals. Some levels had timers and others were open ended (as a kid, I loved the open ended levels and would spawn as many chickens as humanly possible until they started dying lol). Also, what is that pink Wii game you have back there? It looks kinda like a Barbie game, but I could be wrong.
Thank you for mentioning the upcoming updates for Potion Permit as I actually did not know about it so I have something from Potion Permit to look forward to!
I loved Sprout Valley for the little entertainment it gave me, but it is definitely a bite-size game. I bought the ultimate edition for $1 (used gold coins on the e-shop, it's lowest price is currently $2) and I grinded for a weekend and finished it pretty much in 3 or 4 days lol. Idk if there's been an update since this video (or maybe you hadn't unlocked the feature/craft recipe yet) but there if terraforming available and you can add little squares of land or water to your island. I don't remember what resources you need to craft it, and when crafting it, you get 1 square of land (so you have to craft multiple upon multiple of them) but I did manage to increase my island size A LOT. I was having so much fun with adding areas to my island and decorating with all the random items the game supplies once I was pretty much close to done with the game. Definitely not a huge and amazingly unique game, but it was a cozy little time and I had fun with it :)
Waiting for Palia to come to switch next. I agree on Fae Farm- enjoying it, but shouldn’t have been priced close to Zelda games- definitely too expensive for what you get.
Yeah I think this is why I am skipping Fae Farm because of the price and also, romance is a major reason for me to get a game like this and if it's lacking I won't get it. Like I plan on getting Sun Haven, because it's cheaper and big on the romance and still has the fantasy stuff.
Fae farm on switch with 2 future dlc and how good it looks/runs its well worth the 60 bucks. Its the top tier game in its genre imo. Def worth the price.
Agree 100% with Fae Farm, it’s an A potentially an S depending on what they will add later. They have also said they will do QoL update aside from DLC, that will be interesting. I already have over 90 hours on it 😂 the decorating is so addictive and love the animals.
Great video 😊 Not played any of these games myself. I think Fae Farm tempts me the most. But I am so tempted to get Mineko’s Night Market for the Switch. Do you have any initial thoughts on this game Pat? Thanks
@@VittoriaVetra88 thanks, that could be a bit tedious. I’ve not brought a new Switch game for months so I hope if I get it it’s worth it (though at £15.99 it’s quire reasonable)

Great video! I feel the same about most of the games that I’ve also played!!! I also think Potion Permit is great and i didn’t know about the update!!!! 😊
When I first saw someone playing Paleo Pines, I was struck with the idea that it was aimed at young children, maybe their first introduction to cozy games?
I adore paleo pines! You should play it more. I have it for my steam deck and I do notice frame drops occasionally but definitely not game breaking. It gets more interesting and busy as you get more dinos
I wanted to hear your review on Everdream Valley here! Lol I think is rough but engaging. I guess not enough to make the cut. Thank you for your input. I am actually considering some of these right now and it helps to hear someone else's experience with them.
AWL is definitely the game to play after you played an intense game where your stress got high cause AWL takes it all away by the calmness of it... I did sleep most through chapter 6 because I was ready for the ending! 😂 but yeah can't recommend AWL to someone who likes tons of stuff to do! But definitely recommend for the nostalgia of the OG 😏
Love Fae Farm but it feels SO DEAD. All the characters feel so bland and boring to me, they say the same things every time you talk to them, seasonal events don't affect anything. It's definitely fun but it feels like it's lacking a lot of soul, to me anyways. I'm spoiled on Rune factory 4 special
Besides the nostalgia, the visuals and characters in Story of Seasons keep me playing it. The cutscenes are detailed and frequent. I feel like I'm really building relationships. Harvest Moon falls flat on the visuals and relationship/character aspects for me.
I’ve been playing Rune Factory 3 and Fae Farm but lately I’ve abandoned Rune Factory and am obsessed with Fae Farm. 30 plus hours so far. Only thing I don’t like is when they kick you out of the dungeon at midnight and straight into bed 😂
I hate how much they changed "A wonderful life" the art style strayed too far for me and then the character names and design changes really ruined a lot of it for me.
I would put rune factory 3 special higher next to fae farm and potion permit but that may be nostalgia. I've loved rune factory since the first ds game because rpgs are my first game addiction. I also love the unicorn people because of a favorite book series by Anne Mccaffrey starting with Acorna the unicorn girl.
Hi, could you make a video about wholesome out and about? It's an upcoming cozy and educational game, so you won't feel guilty when playing it 😁. In this game you learn plant identification for foraging as well does it provide cooking and crafting recipes for real life. Also it broadens your farming knowledge like not so many other farming games does for instance it teaches companion planting (which plants should be planted next to each other for them to grow better). Moreover, if you like romance it will be included as well. Currently they are running their kickstarter campaign! Additionaly, the Paleo Pines team is actually working with them on the game, so I thought I would post it here on this video.
Love videos like this! Very enjoyable content. Personally, I've been playing and loving Sprout Valley and I also want to try Fae Farm but a bit nervous since people seem to either love it or hate it.
I appreciate that you add a bunch of hotlines to help people with Mental health issues, abuse, etc. But I'd love to have a timestamp in these type of videos... It's a must imo.
I couldn't get into Potion Permit b/c of the weird bouncing animation on all the characters. Fae Farm is a B. If they added a lot of QoL stuff it could bump to an A. (Also pretty sure the shopkeepers do close down at a certain point? I swear I wandered by trying to turn in a quest or something and the shop owner I needed was gone.)
Thank you so much for mentioning the fact that you can only play as a male in the remake of Rune Factory 3 and this is off-putting for a lot of gamers. I really appreciate you for considering us female players even though this is not a problem that affects you. Big hugs! ❤ (and no, I don’t begrudge them for making the game, glad for those that get to enjoy it but *I* certainly won’t be spending money or time on a game if I cannot play as my gender).
@AmyRubyMoon you do realize this exactly why I vote with my wallet about which games I support *now* right? Exactly because I've played enough games in my lifetime without the option. I don't get why my comment triggered you.
Just asking im not triggered im a female myself so i know the struggle it just seems sad to not play a game only because you Can't choose your gender, in light of what You said a non Binary person wouldnt play the Majority of the games because they Can't chose a non Binary option 🙃
@AmyRubyMoon "pity". Yes it is a pity, hence I actually take the time to communicate with game developers when I am disappointed. If I'm just sitting around complaining in an echo chamber then I'm not achieving anything. I communicate in writing and by voting with my wallet about my beliefs. Women are 50% of the world's population and developers should thus cater to such a large segment (if they care about the related profits. If not, that's their choice, and then I'll make my own choice accordingly). Talking about non-binary people is a blatant example of "whataboutism" - a way to stunt opinion and to block legitimate concerns. So I'm not gonna engage in that. I hope it felt good to come shit all over a post I made to thank the creator of this video and to bring positivity. Well done. "Not triggered" my ass. Couldn't you at least respect Pat and let him be thanked for his attention to diversity? No? You "wondered" if I know about gaming history? Lol. Take several seats.
I think youre overreacting 😅 and im not shitting over anything since we Are both right, because everyone is free to choose whatever they like best, im honestly happy to hear you write to the developers thats not something everyone does, so i apreciate that.
This is the first time I've heard someone mention that the switch price includes future dlc. I didn’t know that, it makes more sense now. It doesn't do them any favors to take that option away from buyers though. All I saw was a game I was mildly interested in being the same price as AAA/first party games and no amount of reviews, lets plays or streams could sway me enough to look into it. What if I don't want the dlc? 😂 I just don't think it was the right move, especially as the npc/dating mechanic is on the weaker side. My stance was, and still is; might get it if goes on sale. Potion permit i still have to get, just haven't had the chance yet 😂
the only complaint i have for fae farm is that the NPCs and love interest have no personality at all and they just repeat the same things. whenever or if they fix that then it would be S for me but for rn it’s a B
Allow me to disagree, rune factory 3\4 are still the best rune factory games imo, just like harvest moon sunshine islands and island of happiness. They still have to beat themselfs on that ones as for the rest i dont really like them, i opted for silent hope instead of hm woa 🤷🏻♀️
Yep rf4 has improvements but rf3 still has its charms even if you can only play as male and marry only females , the story is good and the fact that you can be a golden wooly is just pure gold ❤ also im kinda sad the didnt put the old Ost they were in JP and en they say the animation was too centered around only one candidate but the couldve just changed the animation and leave the song be 🥲
it's like they say to each their own some gamers love action adventure games some love RPG games and others love open world games I love all three I also love hidden object games but it really all depends on everyone's own preference
paleo pines looks too cartoony for my liking, i dont expect hyper realism like jurrasic world but a bit less "blobby soft" wouldve been nice and it doesnt look like it has much in the way of character customising, im just being picky though lol, faefarm has a bit of a lack of creativity when it comes to the character creation and the models look pretty same-same its not a "cozy" game exactly but what are your thoughts on harvestella?
I wish they kept SOS A Wonderful Life the same graphics as the game cube version. I prefer that style than these cartoony modern ones. It’s not the same vibes as the aesthetics of the old version.
I've been absolutely loving Faefarm, but I am so incredibly frustrated by the shipping contracts. There is a bug that you can not accept a shipping contract. I have never experienced such a big bug in a game before. (Maybe because I don't usually play day 1) I hope they fix it soon!!
@packers12to80 hmm... maybe that is the problem I am having. If that is the case it would be nice if there was some kind of notification saying why I can't accept the contract. I hold down to accept and it just closes out of the screen. I did update the game afterwards to see if I was missing a patch, but it was still doing the same thing.
I don't know why but I really liked the older Rune factorys, cause the characters seem to have so much depth, the scenes were funny, odd, quirky, actually made me laugh and blush from random hugs and the affection as you begin to date someone. It just felt very off in Rune factory 5, I couldnt wait for it but once I got into it I found the colours and graphics a but too exaggerated, I didnt like any of the male characters (I'm female), and didn't actually want to date anybody or even finish the game personally. While with Rune factory 3, the characters seemed so cute, I wanted to date Pia and Raven even though I'm not gay! I loved that you could throw things at them and I loved that story line where you were part monster. I felt like the newer rune factories really lacked depth in the same way.
It definitely is everything you described. Cute, but not $60 worth. It’s just a decorating game once you finish the short story. Even getting all the items and accomplishments can be done in a week or 2.
Great reviews! On par with most I’ve seen. My question, as well as it being a pet peeve of mine is what constitutes a game being a $30 game as opposed to a $60 game? If I spend 200 hrs playing and loving Fae Farm and it has a huge number of features and a big world, why shouldn’t it be $60? If I pay $60 for God of War or some other triple A title but don’t enjoy it as much, is $60 still justified? Another way to look at it is whether the developer tried to make their game the best that they could. Because a studio has 300 people working on an amazing game as opposed to 5 people working on another amazing game, why shouldn’t the small studio make just as much money as a big studio if people loved their game just as much? I hear complaints about pricing all the time but don’t really get it. If I go to an indie film at the theater as opposed to a blockbuster, I pay the same. I feel that if someone makes a game that takes off and becomes very popular and it has many hours on content, it should be worth as much. Just my 2 cents!
I guess I never really looked at it as "Does x game deserve x price?" When buying it. Since my budget doesn't really allow for me to buy a ton of games, especially at full price, I rarely buy them outside of sales. Unless it's the next game in a franchise I've been playing for years. Since I have more of an idea of what to expect and if I'll enjoy it. Fae Farm is a good example of one I was put off of buying it because of the price, despite good word of mouth/reviews. I'm much more likely to pick up something I'm unsure about if it has a lower price point versus going in somewhat blind on a $60 game. It's one I hope to see in one of the upcoming holiday sales.
Wait🤔🤔🤔If Your In The Cold Area..Maybe Frozen Corn😂😂🤣😂🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️What…And Your Statement Right Before That Was Your Location Will Reflect Different Types Of Crops…Soooo..If Frozen Corn Grows😂😂😂I Live In Pa…And Beside A Huge Farm…Ive Yet To See That 1😂😂😂😂😂
For me, the relationship aspect of games isn’t attractive, so Wonderful Life wasn’t going to be fo me, anyway. But I watched Simply Press Start play a lot of this, and the killer for me is that animals and crops seem to require twice daily care, unless there’s a different way to play.
I didn’t like Wind of Anthos, felt really bear. I did kind of like it, but not enough to play it over and over. I do agree the graphics are great and stuff.
Fae Farm has tons of bugs right now, story is not that long. As well as everything you mentioned. If you really get into the game, you’ll find there isn’t much to do besides decorating. Real let down for me.
First of all, on Potion Permit, what was wrong with that guy that he had a giant question mark on his crotch? Second, I'd love a podcast of you and Payton going head to head dueling it out on your cozy games lists. And, third, great video Pat. Keep them coming! 🌽

Def wait for a Fae Farm sale or for when their DLC are out. At this time it is not $60 worth.
Potion Permit is a S for me!! love the game, i can absolutely recommend it
the only complaint i have for fae farm is that the NPCs and love interest have no personality at all and they just repeat the same things. whenever or if they fix that then it would be S for me but for rn it’s a B
I feel like the mic-holding comment was directed at me
Allow me to disagree, rune factory 3\4 are still the best rune factory games imo, just like harvest moon sunshine islands and island of happiness. They still have to beat themselfs on that ones as for the rest i dont really like them, i opted for silent hope instead of hm woa 🤷🏻♀️
I def need to play rune factory more! That score could easily go up!
Yep rf4 has improvements but rf3 still has its charms even if you can only play as male and marry only females , the story is good and the fact that you can be a golden wooly is just pure gold ❤ also im kinda sad the didnt put the old Ost they were in JP and en they say the animation was too centered around only one candidate but the couldve just changed the animation and leave the song be 🥲
The shop keepers in Fae Farm go to the bar at 11p.m.
Also could you do chapters on your youtube videos?
I've played Paleo Pines (on PC!) and I loved it- I think it's for the people who always wanted jurassic park but cuter😅😅
it's like they say to each their own some gamers love action adventure games some love RPG games and others love open world games I love all three I also love hidden object games but it really all depends on everyone's own preference
paleo pines looks too cartoony for my liking, i dont expect hyper realism like jurrasic world but a bit less "blobby soft" wouldve been nice and it doesnt look like it has much in the way of character customising, im just being picky though lol, faefarm has a bit of a lack of creativity when it comes to the character creation and the models look pretty same-same
its not a "cozy" game exactly but what are your thoughts on harvestella?
Palia definitely is flat on multi-player and romance. Which game is best for those^
Can someone give me the timestamp for the tier list? didn't see. thx
story of seasons is a big recommendation for me
I wish they kept SOS A Wonderful Life the same graphics as the game cube version. I prefer that style than these cartoony modern ones. It’s not the same vibes as the aesthetics of the old version.
I couldnt get past the plant/seed tiles they chose not to replace in RF 3. It looks so bad. Its like they didnt even try to improve on it.
I Wanna try some Harvest Moon
cant wait for my birthday im gonna get it then
aww ty dear @@SameePabon
In Sprout Valley, Nico is a cat 😁
Thank you 🌽
I've been absolutely loving Faefarm, but I am so incredibly frustrated by the shipping contracts. There is a bug that you can not accept a shipping contract. I have never experienced such a big bug in a game before. (Maybe because I don't usually play day 1) I hope they fix it soon!!
Uh...the shipping contract should be fixed. They put out a patch for that. U can only accept one every 14 days.
Sold few sos games and bought it fir £23 absolutely adore it
How hard is it to make a farm game where the main thing is waifus and the farm? No complex and tedious stuff
Your high rating for Fae Farm makes me wonder about your other ratings as from everything I've heard Fae Farm is and overpriced underwhelming mess.
It definitely is everything you described. Cute, but not $60 worth. It’s just a decorating game once you finish the short story. Even getting all the items and accomplishments can be done in a week or 2.
I wanna recommend Cornucopia, it's a 2.5d farm sim
Palia hasn't stepped its foot on Switch yet 😏 prolly this december
It's one I hope to see in one of the upcoming holiday sales.
thanx broo
I know this isn't on switch but MY Time In Portia is great
Totally agree! They have it on switch, I downloaded the game 😂
Love playing my time at portia on switch. It's on sale atm too lol
Pat, have you tried Stardew Valley?
it's better to add text title to the game while you explain.
If PlaySkool made games
anyone one know if fae farm is gonna dlc or a update on customizations
potion permit ❤❤❤
