Why would they make the case camo? A survival shovel are you trying to hide? want to lose it the first time you set it down? seems like something useful to take camping when you dont want to bring a full size shovel but still want to be able to build a decent fire.
I wouldn't bother, since it is a shovel, and is mainly a digging instrument. The second you use it for it's main purpose, it'll totally destroy the edge on all the gravel, rocks, and dirt.
Not to the same edge I would have on an axe. Plus the shovel is pretty thin metal, so it's plenty sharp enough to do the job as demonstrated in the video.
suprlite Knock a tree down after hours if not days going at it, fence wire would take almost as long, this tool is made for convenience. You'd waste entirely too much energy downing a tree with a rock.
Naah, a sharp rock could cut the tree in just a little bit more time than the shovel did (they actually did that alot a long time ago called `the stone age`(maybe you have heard of it?) -And cutting steel wire by knocking it flat between two rocks does NOT take hours, it takes minutes - BUT that is not the point im trying to make: the point beeing: when testing a shovel, it is pretty much mandatory to test it for DIGGING. -What i said about using rocks was just to show how utterly lame your reply about digging with a stick was..

His ignorance of that made him talk it down and if he said it once and brushed it off ya sure funny but he repeatedly mentioned it and severely marked it down only because it wasn't tailored specifically to 5.3% of the world. That is why people have slated him and naturally big tough America must be right so keyboard warriors gather your weapons, arguments ensue.

@@TmPrdXx You mean it's more intuitive for people who aren't very bright there's no logic in having multiple units of measurement that are all proportional. It's worthless, you can just say 1 meter, 1000 meters, 0.1 meters, etc. because the frame of reference never changes. So in effect you only have the one "base" unit.
@@Szolrykor So, going with that statement I assume you are from USA. Based on that, when you go to your local Walmart, does the cashier say 1571 cents or 15 dollars and 71 cents? Seeing as the dollar is proportional with cent.
I'm from the USA. Live in Pennsylvania and use the metric system on a daily basis. I'm a frame technician in a body shop. Like alot of shops we use Car-O-Liner which is a Swedish product. A very good one at that. And all the measurements are provided in MM. Moral of the story. Next time your car gets smashed in the USA, it's fixed using the metric system. Boom.
@@markovertus3909 All units are going to be proportional to their base. The point is about MULTIPLE units that are proportional with *each other*. A cent is 1 per"cent" of 100. But then there are nickels: five "cents", dimes: ten "cents", quarters: twenty-five "cents". You just gave an example of Metric's logic being worthless. Does a car cost 40 "kiloeuros" in Europe? No, it'd cost 40 thousand Euros. The "thousand" is already a unit. It's redundant. The only reason for having other units is if they're in proportion to something useful, i.e. different value coins.

It's very sarcastic. The most sarcastic you've ever seen. You haven't seen sarcasm before... Or maybe you were just not expecting it from a 'murican. ;)
No offense, but I think you have issues with pocket chainsaws because you use them improperly, not because they are useless. Ive had quite a few, and they have always been useful cutting down trees, sawing logs and firewood. I think the issue is that you were keeping the blade straight, like a normal saw, and doing this really awkward motion to saw the tree, instead of curving the blade around the tree and using your core to shift your weight to cut the tree. Also, the metric system is the only correct measuring system.
oh the irony... American scientists used the metric system for the moon landing. We actually crashed a martian probe because someone forgot to convert feet to meters.
You have to come down at an angle when chopping a tree down. Which is what he was doing with the shovel you know employing a technique that he has used for his entire life in his job.
TheMcluvinMe there were about 2 hits that were him just smacking the back of the shovel on the tree. Now correct me if I'm wrong but unless you are trying to bark the tree you don't need to go that steep.
GamerNation98 yeah, his machete video proved that much. He marred the blade by bending it about 80° than did an awful job sharpening it, and was even trying to use the shaft of the blade to cut limbs instead of the head. And the whole time saying he didn't want it to work, but even though its awful treatment and misuse it still worked. And this comes after he completely changes the topography of a $10 axe from Wal-Mart. If that isn't biased I don't know what biased means.
The pocket chain saw is to be used with a support bow.A strong stick that has strength and will bend without breaking. use the chain as the bow string.
I'll never understand where making fun of america came from for using the Imperial system. We use both and each system works better depending on the situation or field.
of course the pocket chainsaw is awful if you use it that way... just pull both ends alternatingly towards yourself with the chain wrapped around the tree. assuming the chain can cut both ways though
The biggest mistake every manufacturer makes with pocket chainsaws is not coating them with Teflon or DLC or something like that, to minimize friction. And the biggest mistake _users_ make is not having their buddy bend the tree away from the blade to minimize binding.
@@ritotron5752 : I'm pretty sure you're joking about standing directly under a limb you're cutting off, but either way that only works for horizontal limbs that are still attached to the tree at one end. If you're trying to cut deadfall, for example, gravity will not help you.

You can dig a hole with a stick, I'm sure the shovel would've passed
dark souls meme, well educated fellow souls born. if you are interested in a ds1 ps3 playthrough id be happy to oblige
So why test the shovel at all? -I am sure he could have smacked that tree down with a rock, and cut the wire between two rocks..
suprlite Knock a tree down after hours if not days going at it, fence wire would take almost as long, this tool is made for convenience.
I enjoyed the interaction between Cody and the gentleman operating the camera. It was a good dynamic as a change of pace. I am accustomed to watching Cody and predominantly just hearing his thoughts and the additional input was good.

Triggering statement..... "Metric system is no use to any one"
The Metric System is much more logical;)
@@TmPrdXx You mean it's more intuitive for people who aren't very bright
there's no logic in having multiple units of measurement that are all proportional.

The imperial system got America to the moon, metric system peasants will never go to the moon
oh the irony... American scientists used the metric system for the moon landing. We actually crashed a martian probe because someone forgot to convert feet to meters.

This dude is hitting the tree with the back of the shovel... "It seems that the shovel comes loose when you use it to cut down a tree."
Nicholas Soudah lol
You have to come down at an angle when chopping a tree down. Which is what he was doing with the shovel you know employing a technique that he has used for his entire life in his job.
TheMcluvinMe there were about 2 hits that were him just smacking the back of the shovel on the tree. Now correct me if I'm wrong but unless you are trying to bark the tree you don't need to go that steep.
Bradley Miller he does it all the time because he’s biased
GamerNation98 yeah, his machete video proved that much. He marred the blade by bending it about 80° than did an awful job sharpening it, and was even trying to use the shaft of the blade to cut limbs instead of the head. And the whole time saying he didn't want it to work, but even though its awful treatment and misuse it still worked. And this comes after he completely changes the topography of a $10 axe from Wal-Mart. If that isn't biased I don't know what biased means.
The pocket chain saw is to be used with a support bow.A strong stick that has strength and will bend without breaking. use the chain as the bow string.
so like a Swede saw?( a bow saw) Yeah I could see that.
Wouldnt the handle holes need to be different/turned 90° to use it as a bow string? How would you attach a bow arm to this?

Dont like flavor on your sausage?
The biggest mistake every manufacturer makes with pocket chainsaws is not coating them with Teflon or DLC or something like that, to minimize friction. And the biggest mistake _users_ make is not having their buddy bend the tree away from the blade to minimize binding.
Great tip, thanks!
Simple just stand under the tree limb and allow gravity to gently assist the limb down
@@ritotron5752 : I'm pretty sure you're joking about standing directly under a limb you're cutting off, but either way that only works for horizontal limbs that are still attached to the tree at one end. If you're trying to cut deadfall, for example, gravity will not help you.
