It's even better if you can grill it over open flame and you can get a bit of char on the corn...we used to cook corn on the cob on the barbeque that way, it's delicious.
Yes, I soak the husk in so.e sugar water than grill the corn on the bbq. It turns out so sweet and delicious. I have shown many people and they love it. Sometimes i will take the husk off and grill it for a minute over the open flame without the husk. Learned it from the annual carnival that goes through my province of Ontario.
You don't need to do anything at all, just take the loose bits of husk off, and grill it right it the husk. It steams beautifully, and chars here and there. Couldn't be simpler.

I think one things that is important to realise with this is a lot of people watch for different reasons so different videos are good! I think there are a significant portion of us that are watching for your story with all the highs and lows it has and these kinda videos are perfect for that!
I was worried too. For a moment I thought he was turning it into a cityified sissy. Without his van I thought he should take his sleeping bag up high into a tree and get secured into a big limb with his knife in his teeth in case a grizz came up after him.
I had a mechanic tell me that on older vehicles, transmission flushes are a bad idea because it pushes sediment that isn't getting into the gears, right out of hiding and into all of that gearing. Love your videos man, keep em coming.
Not really true. Generally new fluid helps. The power flushes could be considered questionable but if you either drop the pan or splice into the cooler lines and let the pump do the work there is NO reason to be concerned with trans service.

Your doing great. Remember: grace under pressure. Can you imagine the backlash if it had been the crock pot skidding down the glacier never to be seen again? They would have had to have the Snowbirds do a flyby and have an empty box lying in state in Ottawa. All the big box stores that sell slow cookers would have their flags at half mast. Best to not think about that. Your transmission was a tough break but you are leaning into it and doing great.

Re: fire roasted corn on the cob, in Minnesota there's a town that used to have annual corn feed with cinder block fire places lining a street. They would soak corn with silk removed but leaves on for hours in salted cold water. Then roast it with leaves on. We went once on vacation so I don't know if they still hold this fundraiser or not (likely skipped 2020). Sure tasted good. Thanks for the memory!

Just looked up: How to repair Van Life gearbox - says remove transmission from vehicle, let transmission simmer in Crockpot for 8 -10 hours, reinstall transmission.
Legit Forest, you're the only person I know that uses Huawei and you've done an amazing job of showing the phones capabilities. Call them and ask them for a new phone, they'd be crazy not to comp you one. I know you're not one for handouts but this is an exception.

Living the "nomadic and Minimal" lifestyle, it seems to me it's kinda wasteful to quit using something just because "viewers" on TH-cam want to see something different or think they know what you need. I have a 2003 Nissan Xterra that I camp in the back of when I am in the wilderness on photo projects. It has 179,000 miles on it and still runs very strong (not that it doesn't have it's issues). I love your channel, the places you go, the hikes you do, the van is just a plus for me. I would like to have something like it in the future but I figure my Xterra takes good care of me so I owe it to take good care of it. Anyways, glad the vans back and better! Keep up the vids!
Oh geez, I meant to tell you that with the transmission on the Chevy van you drive it needs s large cups of bird seed to keep the ducks inside moving smooth on the engine's core treadmill. When one of the ducks gets a little tired on the treadmill it throws off the team's pacing and thus gear changing. DPM's in your owner's manual means "Duck Revolutions Per Minute". The cheek on me!
I enjoyed the views from the mountain top, the music with the drone footage, and that burger looks GREAT! I am a new subscriber, but have watched enough of your videos to admire your humble style and your brave hikes to mountain tops. I especially like how you fly the drones around the mountain tops, and show us what you see from there, places most of us will never see otherwise (or in person).

I had a 2006 Chevy Uplander. Mine had 240,000 miles on it when I sold it down the river this Spring. It had to go because of the transmission. It would clunk and shift rough and was getting worse with the onset of warm weather. 100% synthetic fluid, new filter, 2 bottles of Lucas Tranfix. I loved that van but had no desire to even take a nap in it.
Glad to see you made the repair. When something major goes wrong the first reaction is to cut your loses but I think it would have been a regret. Too much time and effort has been spent on this setup. Happy Trails.

Quick tip: Soak the corn in the husk with a little water, then grill it, it will steam inside the husk, peel and eat
But won't have that nice smoky taste and crispness on the edges of the kernels.
