PRS IS CHEAPING OUT??

- Guitar of the Day! Taking a quick look at the most affordable PRS in the current SE lineup: the bolt-on CE24 Standard Satin. $499 is an absolutely nuts price in today's market, especially given it's made in the same factory with no real spec downgrades from the higher-priced import PRS guitars. Even cooler, the bolt-on isn't a cost-cutting measure, it's a legitimate feature that sets this guitar apart from the rest of PRS' offerings.

Apologies for the audio on this one. Had to sneakily re-record without waking the baby at like 3AM in an Airbnb living room. Not ideal but still wanted to get some nerdy guitar content out for you guys lol
Don'T you know that Cort still has issue with slavery workers bro.
I got one last week and put the PRS locking tuners on it, and I absolutely love it. The single best inexpensive guitar I've ever played. Sounds great. Looks great. Light weight. Just awesome.
Love the alter bridge riffs in the mini demos
Such a great guitar, the rosewood board is such a win for the price point
This is the beat deal on affordable guitars right now. Get one while they are this price.
Big time
I recently got the standard satin CE, and for my second guitar, it's a huge upgrade from my old Micro Ibanez Gio. It has not disappointed, and I look forward to playing it in my school of rock concert.
A great guitar that captures a lot of the mojo of the core version, but at 5-6x less.
Wish they had that iconic prs bolt on joint
surprisingly the pickups are pretty decent in this. the tremolo is obviously the el cheapo version but it's not terrible for what it is. This thing definitely competes hard with Epiphone/LTD 200 series, etc.
Nice Cort dude
The quality control is still in the U.S. Maybe Gibson should outsource its QC to PRS U.S.A.
What riff did he play? It sounds familiar
Edit: its For the Real by Alter Bridge off One Day Remains
That's the one :)

@@luistijerinayeah, I was looking at the title and still messed it up 😂
H...
As to the header "Is PRS 'cheaping out' "...
Absolutely not. They're following a smart, savvy business model of incorporating a compitent, trusted business partner to expand their namesake, for a VERY reasonable price point to reach a broader, less affluent market. Something Gibson apparently has ZERO clue of ..
PRS SE is kind of like Epiphone, though. You might have PRS on the headstock, but it still is a PRS SE. In the same way that Epiphone is not a Gibson, SE is not quite a PRS.
Love how you give props to Alter Bridge in some of your ending riffage! Some people just missin out😉
Dream guitar ❤
You convinced me to buy one, and it's fucking amazing. It wasn't totally set up so I had to spend some time on that, but whatever, it's still a great instrument.
Ima end up with 1 of these hopefully. I have an open pore epi les paul classic and love it.
Dang! Early Alter Bridge??? Nice !
Ahhhh that AB riff. Nice.
I work at sam ash (until we close) and honestly I hated PRS before I started working here. I have grown into a prs guy slowly but surely
I love the idea. I just hope they drop a single cut version of this.
Funny, I only paid $449 for my SE Tremonti back in the day. This is definitely a step in the right direction
I am rocking a $149 new Epiphone! Well, after i changed the tuners, nut, polished the frets...shoulda bought a PRS!!
Got it, LOVE IT! I've owned many Gibsons and a few PRS guitars such as the SE Santana, and an S2 Mira...this guitar is on par with all of them if not more.
They look awesome
Maybe personal preference, but I’ve demoed a couple lower end SEs and, to me, they feel/sound exactly as cheap as they are, in every way they could. I would sooner grab an Ibanez Gio, but instead I learned that if I have $500 burning a hole in my pocket, I can save another $500 get a professional quality instrument. I’m not rich, I am a line cook, but if you can save and spend $500 on a dogshit instrument, you can save $800-$1000 and get something professional quality, with a wide variety of sound/tone capabilities.
Don’t let people convince you there is no learning curve on cheap instruments compared to expensive ones. If you know you will stick to guitar as a hobby long term, just spend the extra money right out of the gate. I wish I had made that decision years ago, I would have saved myself a significant amount of frustration, stress, and ultimately, money.
Another piece of advice (frankensteiners/builders this is not for you): You are never going to upgrade those pickups, you are never going to upgrade the electronics. If you can spend well over $500 on pickups, electronics, tuners, and a guitar tech to put it all together, then just get a better guitar.
Big fan of PRS since I was a young teen, but I think even their core pickups are just not great. I put modern fluence in mine and it’s a beast. Their import guitar fretwork/QC and finishing is top tier, but I wish they would have more pickup options. Just my humble opinion
The only thing I don’t like are the PRS tremolos. It seems like no matter how expensive a PRS gets, the tremolo bridge never gets better.
Grazie. Ok, but, what are the main differences between tru-neck and bolt on? As a noob player.. ok technically one is glued and the other one is bolted, but what should convince me to chose one or the other one?
Sorry for my ignorance and my english
PRS cooked🔥🔥🗣️
Why they don´t make 22 frets anymore? I dont like 24 frets. Used to it for 30 years now,
They still do, model dependant. My Tremonti SE custom has 22 on it
@@regcundy3733 Good to hear that. The McCarthy SE Model as well. :)
I think prs hit a home run on 594 mccarty and custom 24 and swamp ash special but the silver sky specs are lame for the money the fender player is speced better
The CE was not made to be an affordable PRS. But made with the bolt on neck to appeal to the Fender crowd. CE stands for "Classic Electric."
What's the model and how many frets?
Count the dots
Rosewood! Nice as I don't care for Laurel & Hardy.
Ha, that’s what I paid for my s2 single cut made in US
Im still trying to buy a esp e-ii eclipse but apparently my bank won't let me spend my own money 😡. Guess im going to have to go ask them for permission to spend some of my money 😡.
That tone gave me 3 heart attacks ❤
🙏🎸☯️🕉️
Their profit margins must be insanely low or their asian factory is slaving away because thats crazy for the quality you get
FIND PEACE, FIND THE REALLLLL
but will it fit in my toaster?
I think they look cool, but I just wish they would bring back the 10 tops for the affordable price
F'cking 24 fret guitars, I hate them. I wish they had done a ce in 22 frets.
Why do you hate them?
@@anishkrishnan3979 I don't like how it changes the tone of the neck pickup. Normally on a 21/22 fret, the neck pickup sits just beneath a harmonic node (the same one that's on the fifth fret). Those harmonic overtones are more prevalent at those nodes. Overtones aren't really that strong on a clean amp, but when it starts to clip is when they start to reveal themselves. So on a clean amp it isn't bad, but with overdrive it sounds sterile. Some players like that, they prefer the added clarity, especially in high gain settings, I'm just not one of them.
I also find them to get uncomfortable to play sitting for any length of time. I find having to shift the bridge or tremolo a couple inches closer to the neck joint makes them uncomfortable to play sitting for any length of time. I don't know why because it shouldn't have any effect on it, but I find my left shoulder starts to ache when I play a 24.
As for PRS I find the 24 fret models just look off. The pickups are so close together and the positioning of the tremolo closer to the neck pocket gives them an uneven look.
What can I say? 🤷
Shoutout to my lil guys whose pee ricochets off their balls
Um bro?
One of my biggest complaints about previous SEs was the finish (2018 or so). It was just so thick. I went with a used core model instead. I like this open pore concept.
