    I just bought the 24 SE CEAwesomeness and a great price! Fine for playing gigs I bought the vintage cherry. Nice frets as well. Cheers Mate btw mine weighs at 6.2 lbs. I can stand with it hanging on my shoulder all night. 👍

    I have the SE CE 24 vintage sunburst flame top. I play it more than my brand new Gibson AAA flame top standard Les Paul that cost 6 times as much. The guitar is fantastic. What a deal.

    To me, the Custom had a little bit more lows and highs and a little better defined midrange, but the SE CE 24's pickups really sounded great. I don't think you can go wrong with either. I will say I have a Core instrument and they are really beautifully made.

      Absolutely agree and good ears! But man the SE CE really sounds great! Thanks for watching!

      For me the SE CE 24 much brighter and more harmonic overtones it rocks .

    Well, I will take the PRS SE CE24, hears why, built like a Hi end Paul Reed Smith, great tones from the pickups, 85/15 S not no secondary pickups, nice finishes, balanced, but won't bust your bank account opened. I rather take the PRS SE CE 24 anyday

    Thorough demo of these two awesome PRS price tiers! The model year of the Custom 24 depends on which pups are in it. Assuming it's recent they'll be 85/15, while older had Vintage Bass/HFS. The 85/15'S' in the SE CE are great pickups, I have a set in my SE Swamp Ash and enjoy them. But they're pretty bright as all SE pups tend to be IME. The 85/15 core pups have deeper timbre and more clarity, they're just miles more pleasing to my ears. For sure Core PRS are worth the price, I've had friends with them and played them, I've just never been able to justify it personally.

      This custom 24 has the 85/15. I’m surprised how similar they sounded. I do like humbuckers that have lots of top end. Both are killer guitars. Can’t go wrong either way!

    Dropping Customs PU in the SE would somewhat even out the playing field, tone wise.They'll never be comparable instruments, The custom should hold it's value,Nicer appointments,better build but, a 89% cost spread is a world of difference if you aren't a gigging Pro.I have an SE and will mod-up some specs and be quite happy with what I have! Good vid, Thanks

    • @badbrad
      @badbrad  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you! Yeah if I put the U.S. version of the PRS pickups and put the same electronics I can imagine there not being much of a difference. I’d be happy with the import even stock, playing a gig. It’s a great guitar and especially at that price point!

  • @Obiekb
    @Obiekb 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Just hit subscribe! Great video and playing. I feel the SE wins. Both sound great but for the price and quality the SE is hard to beat. I have one in the same color and I really like it. I’m going to put some locking tuners on it, jus because of string change ease and I have a set of Duncan’s I’m going to install, JB and Jazz just to make it my own.

    • @badbrad
      @badbrad  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Man thank you so much! Yeah I was pretty shocked how well the SE did in this. I’d have no problem gigging that guitar. Throwing some locking tuners and those Duncan’s in should really make it rock. Thanks again!

    If you are playing good music, the audience will not care. Instruments are made for the player, not the music or the audience.
    That being said.......
    1. Does the Custom 24 sound thousands of dollars better that the SE Satin? Nope.
    2. Will the Custom 24 make you more money on a gig? Nope.
    3. Will a Custom 24 be more durable than the SE Satin? Maybe.
    In some brands, like Fender, there is a big difference between the bottom end and the top end. Usually due to materials and quality control. With PRS, not so much.

    both sound killer :) what is your signal chain, you using that tasty LION in there? PRS's have the best necks, so precise, easy to turn truss rod. Would be funny if you opened them up and they had identical pups in them :))))

      This was the Pod Express. To my ears the pickups are very similar but the import has the "S" pickups.

    Thanks for the demo! I suspect the Indonesian one could sound better than the Custom with the right pickups. The stock ones seem to be ok but a bit mid-heavy.

    The custom 24 might if you use your imagination, have a slightly more refined sound. I wouldn't know why. I believe they both have the same pick-ups, same wood...
    Unless I had a steady run of good paying gigs, the standard satin would suit me just fine.
    Besides I like the look.

    • @badbrad
      @badbrad  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It all comes down to country of origin for all the parts including pickups. Still both sound killer.

    You could buy 9 Se Ce24’s for the price of the Core. My goodness for $500 it’s almost a too good to be true deal. I think I’d put locking tuners on it and call it a day

    I love PRS and I understand why the Cores cost what they do. It's the labor, material, and the market price. And PRS has to sustain itself as a company. But this is why they make the more affordable but not cheap S2 line and the entry level SE line. I love them all, but I've only owned an SE and I loved it. I'll be getting another, perhaps the SE CE 24 in this vid. I've always wanted a PRS Bolt On since trying one in the late 80s. I first tried a PRS in 1987, a Custom 24, and was blown away. But it wasn't the price that kept me from buying it. Just other things I needed at the time like a new Marshall stack and other gear.

    • @badbrad
      @badbrad  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think the cores are worth every penny. The S2 now has the US pickups so that’s a heck of a deal and yes the SE’s are killer guitars. I would have no problem gigging this SE it is killer! That company makes great guitars. Thanks for watching!
