The positive cable go to the battery. So in theory yes you can. Don't mix up the negative, and positive cable. If you're not sure which cable goes where then take it to a mechanic.

I did not know either I just helped a lady jump her car and opened up the hood and looked like 👁👄👁 I see the positive but were is the negative.

Yes. Just easier to pop the hood.
