    Learned something today - I didn't realise Canada uses inches for altimeter settings. Being metric like us, I assumed you guys used millibars (hectopascals). I guess it makes sense, being in close proximity to the States. Loved your video.

      Yeah aviation uses inches in North America. You’ll here ATC give altimeter settings in millibars if they are really savy on the type of airplane. Like here in Cold Lake we have some Alpha Jets that are originally equipped in Germany and use Mb.

    Ha! Avery is adorable, Stu. And she's got your tag line down. Good for her. Fun one. Thanks!

    I remember you started getting parts for an RV 10 build. I would stick to the home built.

    RV-10 comparison video?

  • @joncox9719

    Love the fast back version RV-8! What if any benefits does it provide over the full bubble canopy. Like the P-47 and most other razor back/bubble canopy, the razor back is lighter and faster!
    So how do the two RV-8 canopy configurations compare? Pro's and con's of each???? "Duh, I know the visibility is a little better with the full bubble canopy" Performance wise, how do they compare?

    • @stusaircraftfactory6592
      @stusaircraftfactory6592  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s hard to say about performance since you’d have to swap canopy out and keep all the same. I think the speed difference is very small. Yes visibility without toll bar on your face. I also like the top sideways better since you can seal the canopy better. I prefer the fibreglass frame for fit and finish. There is a bit more shoulder room on fastback. And course course it looks way better. Baggage area behind pax is larger. Only downside I can see is some guys like grab handles on roll bar for getting in and out. Can’t really do that with fastback. Maybe a minor drawback is you can’t really Sikaflex the canopy on due to required gap - you could easily do it on roll bar frame. Instead you use hysol but it’s ok to work with also.

    Another good one Stu! Curious as to what exactly you didn’t like about it or what kept you from buying it?

    • @stusaircraftfactory6592
      @stusaircraftfactory6592  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cost of ownership that’s it. If I was going to buy certified I’d have a hard time looking outside of a Bonanza or Cirrus. Thanks for asking

      Really enjoy your content Stu. I was the previous owner of FJRQ (red RV4) in one of your videos....miss that plane. Will be following you closely on the next chapter of your career. My son just made aircrew selection and will be starting RMC this fall.
      Again, looking forward to watching more!

      Hi Frank.....glad it’s still been looked after!! As mentioned, probably one of the best flying planes I’ve owned....can’t beat a 4!!
      Did you ever end up doing anything to the engine?

    You get 175 knots at 7.2gph? What altitude? I recently delivered an -8 and at 11,500, I was 165 at 9.2gph.
