I had a Cherokee 180 and used to be based out of Asheville so when I heard you say you wanted Clearance Delivery out of SPA, I got a bit of a chuckle. Nice plane!
Kim. All those caffeine boosters will also raise your blood pressure to dangerous levels especially if you take them everyday. Have you measured your blood pressure while you're on these things? I know this from experience because taking energy drinks everyday wrecked my blood pressure permanently. I don't drink caffeine anymore but I still deal with high blood pressure after effects
I noticed that now Kim is truly flying SIC, you guys are utilizing more CRM. So... she's too busy now to break out the picnic basket while climbing to cruise altitude. 😅😂😊
Well, well, well. Finally Mr. BP and Miss Kim. It's about time we hear (and see) from you. But, better later than never😂. Not to be mean, it's just that we miss you guys. And it's always a pleasure to have your company. So, for this one time, you're forgiven 😅. Good winds and happy landings from Portugal 🇵🇹
Oh and Kristoffer (Mr. Kristoffer) I should say! When will Miss Kim start her multiengine (considering that that`s in her plans of course)? And considering I should ask Miss directely but I don`t dare to. I say that it would be interesting to see her getting her multi (and even I.R) so you could relax a bit and let the ldy take control of 75W. Greetings from Portugal.
Charles Lindbergh figured out how to extend the range of the P-38 Lightning by experimenting with the prop, power, and fuel mixture settings. Just as you are demonstrating here. His discovery of better settings helped with the utilization of the P-38 during ww2. Initially there was a lot of opposition to trying this. The mindset was that it was thought that there was only one set of setting that would work. Anything else would destroy the engines. Well Lindbergh was correct. This was one of his major contributions to the war effort.
I used your numbers for a 500nm trip and you would save 5 gallons of fuel LOP but you arrive 12.6 minutes later than best power. Not accounting for climb ext. so pretty close either way.
It's not that much change if you take in account you lost 15kts, your total flight time would be more so you'll burn fuel longer which will eat into the savings.
I agree there is a cost per hour on the engines that need to be factored in when calculating savings. That’s why I made reference to additional range rather than savings.
Would you ever be sunburnt in the plane? Inside of the plexi glass or any real glass that should be UV free and that's the infra red rays heating the cabin.
@@BaronPilotAnd reported a much higher rate of cataracts even after wearing those cool sunglasses all those years. This was due to the fact that the earlier sunglasses blocked out bright light but not so much the UV like modern lenses do. It will be interesting to see if the rate reverts to normal over the years. I knew one old Vietnam era pilot who flew as a Captain for Eastern for many years. He had basal cell carcinoma on his left arm and developed a cataract is his left eye a few years before his right got bad.
I’ve debated this in a previous video. I prefer to clean up the plane and increase my speed margin from VMC. Once the engine quits my priority is survival. So if I can fly I will. If I need to land straight ahead with the gear up I will. But I believe if you climb to 100’ and chop the power and land straight ahead (only try this on a 10,000’ runway the first time) you will find you used way more runway than you thought you would.
just the other day I learned that there was a bonanza twin in 1950 and baron replaced it in 1960. the baron is actually the more true twin because it shares cabin with the bonanza, the twin bonanza was bigger. ironic. if you ever get tired of paying the money pit bills on the baron, I highly recommend the hard to get in USA Risen. Either 912 or 915 version. For safety I'd pit a good new LSA with chute over post WW2 piston twin any day. And flights might literally be 10x cheaper. 4 inches wider cabin too. Better visibility, probably need a sunshield. Can be full instrument with a GTN. If Beechcraft ever makes a modern Baron you can go back. Kim might love to fly it, I'm just saying :)
No disrespect to Kim intended at all- Kris is just an insane catch of a man, intelligent, talented, brave, seems patient and kind, handsome, generous, great sense of humor, the list goes on lol.
DO NOT run LOP in these big engines trying to save a shot glass full of gas. Bad idea! Gas is cheaper than replacing a cylinder/s because you burned em up. Common ! If you can afford a Baron forget foolish economy leaniing and run best power.

Long time no see… welcome home…
OMG...Couple #1 hasn't been lost in the clouds. woopwoop.
Great to see you and Kim back in the B55.

Kim with the confident radio calls after getting her ticket 😊
Thank you. Very cool, just found channel…

Got to keep her busy 🤣
missed you both, welcome back!
New video! Thanks!
Hope you enjoyed it!
The real value of LOP operations is temperature and cleanliness. Did you note the difference in CHTs between the two operations?
Is Kim staying current? Got used to her adventures when she was training...going through withdrawal!

Think this is the first one. In a long time
More to come!

Love your videos
Thanks.
Wow I missed the release today 😂. Max, Greg, Steveo and your self + Kim have been 😢 missing
In the words of Dennis Weaver: _About time, Charlie!_
15:50 I think those are in the FAA Medication Database.
Dang, it has been a long hot minute since I have seen a 75 Whiskey Video 😍
Good to see you guys again. When is Kim going to start her multi-engine training?
Little bumpy on the takeoff looks like some shaking and maybe a little shimming.
Pretty obvious...your fans have been wondering where you guys have been. Enjoyed the video!
Just been busy working but have plenty of flights recorded and coming soon.
KSPA is my home airport. This must have been filmed a while ago. Been undergoing construction for a while now. Would have been nice to meet you.
Time to make a cup of Yorkshire tea and load up my vaporiser 😂
I could REALLY see you guys in an Aerostar Kris!!! It's a rocket like your Lear!!! :)
Funny I was looking at one the other day. 🤣
Great you are back. Howi s Kims PIC flying going??
I used your numbers for a 500nm trip and you would save 5 gallons of fuel LOP but you arrive 12.6 minutes later than best power. Not accounting for climb ext. so pretty close either way.
Hi, great video. What is your MAP at 2400? Thanks!
Hey guys! Give a shout next time you’re up.
Everything’s better with butter landings ❤
She likes the heat on her. I get me really excited.
Thanks for the madds!?
Hey Kimmy, nice to see you you little cutie
technically.....trim state is for a specific airspeed
Bye Kimmy, you precious girl
Not about fuel but keeping CHT’s cooler.
Seemed like"Someone" was on a large amount of caffiene. Jusy sayin....
Don’t look at it only as nautical miles per gallon gained. Another way of looking at it is 8% increase in fuel efficiency.
It's not that much change if you take in account you lost 15kts, your total flight time would be more so you'll burn fuel longer which will eat into the savings.
I agree there is a cost per hour on the engines that need to be factored in when calculating savings. That’s why I made reference to additional range rather than savings.
Hiya enquiry from England, Sorry could not watch Kim's PPL training found it to be too intrusive, So did she get it.
The wait for this episode was way too long.
Been crazy busy. Hopefully the wait for the next one won’t be very long.
Long time no see thanks for the video, I don't know why you don't have the shades on as well so you don't overheat, take care.
Would you ever be sunburnt in the plane? Inside of the plexi glass or any real glass that should be UV free and that's the infra red rays heating the cabin.
Pilots have a higher than average cases of skin cancer. The windows do not protect you from the rays. 🤷🏻♂️

Can you put some tint on your windows?
Short answer is you can not use normal tint on plexiglass.
@@BaronPilot OK, Thanks
Think about waiting longer to raise your gear...you add alot of runway left when you brought the gear up
I’ve debated this in a previous video. I prefer to clean up the plane and increase my speed margin from VMC. Once the engine quits my priority is survival. So if I can fly I will. They gotta clarify that the fuel numbers theyre givibg are per side. Multiply x2.
Time to sell those AOA indicators, I don’t think you have ever referred to them since they were installed.
An explanation was promised after installing, but why explain a gimmick when it's never used?

Twin Bo’s are cool and have huge cabins! The Risen is impressive.
Too lean will damage the engines!
Can you elaborate?
Depends on who is paying for the overhaul.
At 7:20 27 gal per hr x2 is 57 gal hr. Aweful. A TBM 910 burns 55/hr. 2x faster and more range.
A baron 55 is powered by 2, IO 470 Continental engines which normally burn 12 to 13 gallons per hour each.
No that’s total. Not per side.
27x2 is 54 not 57 anyways
No disrespect to Kim intended at all- Kris is just an insane catch of a man, intelligent, talented, brave, seems patient and kind, handsome, generous, great sense of humor, the list goes on lol.
Thank you for your kind words 😊
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that Fairbanks84 is a fake account created by Kristoffer. 😂

Lean of peak reduces CHT.
Actually yes it does !
