I’m sure you hear this all the time, but: I’m a huge Disneyland nut & I’ve easily seen dozens upon dozens of videos about “facts and secrets” about the park, & they all repeat the same stuff. You though, sir, consistently teach me something & surprise me with new info. I tip my ears to you.
California Adventure is my absolute favorite! I have a classic photo from when I was a kid in the "A" of the "CALIFORNIA" sign back when it was still there!
Hey, loved your visit of FDowntown Disnrey from last week, we went by there, wished we could meet you. I only wish Oswald had returned to Disney hwne he was still alive! So glad Miles is doing better!
My love for Disney continues to grow. The first time I ever went to Disneyland was when I was 4 years old and I feel just like a kid all over again every time I visit. You're the best Chris and I get a kick out of your videos so much.
Side note: I do miss the old postcard entrance. I thought it was super unique and honestly really beautiful! The old charm of Sunshine Plaza was amazing!
Can you do a video where you go through the lands/attractions at DCA and talk about the ones that were there previously w/ facts about them? I’m so curious since I never got to see the old DCA... like the orange swings to the silly symphony swings for example. I love your videos and your energy!
I went to DCA when it was DCA 1.1, superstar limo, soap opera diner, and farmer land were already gone. I honestly liked DCA 1.1, but I know some people didn't. I'm kinda sad to see it gone.
The first time I went was in like, 2007 when it was mid-transition, and it was a weird park even back then, but still very enjoyable. I think it's finally moving in a clear direction that will make the park even better!
I remember it was so poorly received they reduced the two park annual passes to astonishing low prices and even gave further discounts for renewals. We're paying Diz back for all that now, but still an annual (lot's of blackout dates) locals pass is still well priced IMHO. Ya don't want to go on those blackout days anyway. I don't mind paying more if they keep investing back into the park. And are they ever investing back into the park.
I’ve been researching some Disney facts, as my family is going to Disneyland in 2 days, and your channel has been so helpful and organized with these facts. You just earned another sub :3
The only part of the original California adventure opening that I really miss is that they used to dye the water at the boardwalk blue and there was a wave maker so it looked like the ocean.
Cool new video Chris! There is a really cool little walk around the back of Grizzly Peak where you can get a look at the rapids and watch guests get soaked!
I remember when DCA first opened and how shocked I was at the cheap and meanness of the place. This was during the dark days of Disneyland, when Paul Pressler and Cynthia Harris were in charge and all of Disneyland suffered. Their management directives included such winners as "If it's good enough for Six Flags, it's good enough for Disney" and "We've got to defer maintenance until attractions break down."

I would argue that Tower if Terror wasn’t “the first E-Ticket attraction in DCA” California Screamin’ and Soarin’ over California both opened with the park.

I can tell that your channel is going to grow so much!!! I LOVE your videos!!! I have some of the best memories at California Adventure. I remember there used to be a tortilla factory where they gave free tortillas. I also loved going to the place where they made bread!
i got my annual pass the second day California Adventure opened. I loved it! i had just turned 21 so the wine place i would go hang out at. After go to the bread factory get free bread and have a clam chowder bread bowl. It was so relaxing for the older crowd. We could just walk around and enjoy the scenery. Then when we wanted to go on rides go over to Disneyland. I miss how it was.
I'm going to Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure late this summer. So, I've been watching ALL your videos to know more about the parks. I've really enjoyed watching your videos. They are fun to watch. I am looking forward to the videos coming about Disney's California Adventure.
I've really been loving this channel! The "History and Secrets" series has been excellent and I've been learning sooooo much from it. Do you think you could do a series someday for tips and tricks on meeting characters in Disneyland and DCA? Stuff like what characters have established meet and greets in the parks, where can you find wandering characters, where can you find more unique characters, etc. And maybe go meet the characters so we can see you interactions, you have such a great personality I bet all the interactions would be great!

I visited DCA during its early days. I remember Superstar Limo and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire: Play It vividly. The park was a ghost town at night, literally empty by 7:00 pm. What was the ultimate slap in the face to Disneyland fans beside the reasons listed here was the fact that Tokyo DisneySea opened the same year and we all know how amazing that park is. Post-2012 DCA truly earned the right to carry the Disney name and with Pixar Pier and Marvel looming, the park's future has never been brighter.

i heard about DCA when it first was being built and heard the same rumors that the park was not great. but im so happy of the park we have today and will have in the future with pixar pier approaching and marvel land in the horizon. I have been to Disneyland twice *shameface* the first time was in 1999 and the monorail went near a huge dirt lot that was going to be DCA. The second time was in 2007 and I had 3 days, 2 were spent in Disneyland the third day was full of regret as DCA looked much better than I expected. I did California Soarin' Adventure as I had seen a show on History channel about the imagineers creating the ride and it was pretty awesome! The only other ride I remember going on was at the request of my now exwife (she wanted to go to Disneyland for our honeymoon and who am I to say no!). That ride looked super scary and I was super nervous going towards it... inside the queue was incredible and the ride was fantastic! Leaving the Tower of Terror was quite the opposite, she was scared and I wanted to go again!
I wasn't excited for visiting this park later this month, I didn't really enjoy it when I visited as a kid. I had a lot of the same complaints you addressed. But after watching your video I'm ready to give it a second chance!
I know this park has had its ups and downs but I really love what it is now. So much fun and the potential to improve is very high. Disneyland is a classic beautiful park that can do no wrong while California Adventure is it's cool off the wall cousin who lets you take a swig from her flask.
My mom and I went in Aug of 2001 for my birthday, we went for two days and did Disneyland the first day and DCA the second day, but it was horrible. Because the trees were still so new there was no shade so the sun and heat just beat down. There were hardly any benches to rest and my mother has mobility issues so that sucked. And for being a land full of restaurants almost all of them did not open until after 1 or 2pm, so if you went in any time before there wasn't really any actual food to eat. As you said the rides that the park did have were very generic and had no Disney theming. You could tell they were trying to make a park for older kids, but it was really missing that Disney magic. We were in the park for barely 30 minutes and ended up leaving. The cast members tried to get us to stay longer with front of the line passes to Soarin' over California and a meal perk thing at the Hollywood studio part where soap opera cast members interacted with people. We ended up just asking if we could pay the difference in ticket price to go spend the day at Disneyland again. If I remember right they didn't actually charge us more even though we were totally willing because the Disneyland ticket was more money at the time. I am so glad since then they revamped it and added in the Disney charm that people go to the parks for.
I went to DCA in that first month... I actually enjoyed the lack of people. Felt Like my own park. I understand that wouldn't work, but I enjoyed the freedom while it lasted.

Everytime some one says the name Westcot my heart breaks a little more. I been researching that park for about 5 years now and the more i learn about it the more sad i am that it never got made. It truly would have been an amazing park.
Please do a video to clear all the different Disney parks in the US. It confuses me sometimes as I don’t live in the US. DisneyWorld, DisneyLand, Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Disney California Adventure, Disney Hollywood Studios.
I have a silly question..... my wife and i live in bakersfield Ca and thinking of getting annual passes for the family so we can come 2-3 times a year for our 4 year old.... we really like going when we have no crowds.... i know january after the first week and february are the best time to go but what about the rest of the year.... we are planning on going on the last week of august this year i know it should be slower... also the weekdays of september are pretty slow at times.... but the august and january problem is haunted mansion is closed due to the halloween reskinning they do.... its my fave ride.... =( any advice on when i should go to maximise my son's experience.... who wants to wait over an hour for pan's flight... you know?
Thumbs upp. Oswald the Lucky Rabbits Girlfriend (S.O.) is Ortensia the Cat and they occasionally run a costume character of Ortensenia in Disneyland with Oswald.
guest services should have them if all else fails. I know at WDW you can ask for a strip of them to give out to other guest and make your own disney magic.
I've only been to California Adventure once and it was in November of 2001. Everything you said in this video was spot on. It was a pretty boring park.
I remember paying full price to California adventure back in 2001. I was so upset! there were only a couple of rides (including soaring over california). It made no sense to charge so much for that fail.

This is one of the only DL/DCA specific vlogs i have found . Tons for WDW or just general travel ones that feature Disney but very few California Disney parks based ones. That might be why he has so many ppl so quickly. I like the vlogs, quirky , fun and informative.

I love the incredcoster it’s my fav ride at Disneyland it puts shows if your bored
I have a silly question..... my wife and i live in bakersfield Ca and thinking of getting annual passes for the family so we can come 2-3 times a year for our 4 year old.... we really like going when we have no crowds.... i know january after the first week and february are the best time to go but what about the rest of the year.... we are planning on going on the last week of august this year i know it should be slower... also the weekdays of september are pretty slow at times.... but the august and january problem is haunted mansion is closed due to the halloween reskinning they do.... its my fave ride.... =( any advice on when i should go to maximise my son's experience.... who wants to wait over an hour for pan's flight... you know?

guest services should have them if all else fails. I know at WDW you can ask for a strip of them to give out to other guest and make your own disney magic.
I've only been to California Adventure once and it was in November of 2001. Everything you said in this video was spot on. It was a pretty boring park.

I remember paying full price to California adventure back in 2001. I was so upset! there were only a couple of rides (including soaring over california). It made no sense to charge so much for that fail.

This is one of the only DL/DCA specific vlogs i have found . Tons for WDW or just general travel ones that feature Disney but very few California Disney parks based ones. That might be why he has so many ppl so quickly. I like the vlogs, quirky , fun and informative.
