I only turned 5 in 1996, but it is the first year that I have some significant memories of. I especially remember how awesome Nickelodeon was at that time and remember my brother and me watching Doug and Rugrats every evening.
The perfect blend of technology, culture and lifestyle. That's the 90's. Being brought up in that environment, that's something they can never take away. I take it everywhere I go, everyday I'm alive, the 90's vibe.
Wow, it must have been so rad being a young teenager in 96. Culture was at its peak, we had the perfect amount of technology- modern conveniences and safety without sacrificing our privacy and freedom. I was a child then myself, must’ve been around 8 or 9 in 96? I have literal guilt over having had the privilege of experiencing childhood in the 90s. I really wish we could give that gift to the little ones coming up these days, but alas…Pandora’s box has been opened. 💔
Best year in the 90s. Sports teams were even at their peak. The bulls and red wings teams back then had the best refular season records in history. It was a special year. Jordans best selling shoe is that year too. Jerry Springer show blew up that year too. One of the most controversial shows ever lol
Nice video, I remember this. In my opinion, 1996 was probably the last days of old school vibes. After Tupac died, and then we went through 1997 to early 2000s, everything was starting to change, whether it be for the better or worse. Music was quite different, old school music was beginning to deteriorate, rap and hiphop seemed to be less popular, movies began to make a crap load of money than ever before, classical/operatic music and plays would become extinct, technology changed l, drastically, more new games and gaming consoles evolved, and etc...
The mid 90’s starting at 1994 is really when things started to shift. It’s just that there were still a lot of outdated technology still somewhat relevant at the time. By 1997-98 things seemed dramatically different from the early 90’s. Then the rest was history. The internet is what really changed a lot of things. Then again it’s all about perspective. People back then were saying the same thing people are “oh the good old days.” Lol
I was 4 years old that year. 1996 was a special time for me because of new adventures, experiences and being carefree while living in the moment. I miss those days.
I was 10 years old in 1996. I remember my sister and I used to record songs off the radio on cassette, calling the station to request it and wait. We didn’t have today’s technology back then but it made for some awesome memories. #ilovethe90s
96 was my senior year in HS. The album that impacted my life in a big way, No Code, was released. I still cherish it today. 96 and 97 were amazing years for me. Then adulthood came calling and all at once the magic was over.
1996 seems like a weird year. I don't really remember it because I was only 2/3 at the time, but based on this video, it seems like it was primarily a mid 90s year with some late 90s influence kicking in. On one hand, there are still some pure grunge hits from Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, etc. (despite the genre declining since Cobain's death) and some mid 90s-esque alternative bands (Bush, Smashing Pumpkins, pre-Dizzy Goo Goo Dolls, Oasis, Blur etc.), and on the other hand you have newer rock bands like 311 who were like a precursor to Nu-Metal and Marilyn Manson. There were more pop rock acts like The Wallflowers, and Alanis Morissette was more popular than ever. Also, there are more pop acts like the Spice Girls breaking in (though the whole teen-pop craze wouldn't really take over until like 1997/1998), and there was also the whole Macarena craze. On the gaming side, although 2D gaming was still dominant through most of the year, the PS1 was popularizing gaming with Crash Bandicoot, and the release of the N64 and Super Mario 64 pretty much set the 3D standard.
1996 was my favorite year man. I was 12 years old blown away by the music being played on tv that year. The Jordan shoes that year were great. The bulls and the red wings had all time great teams and the Nintendo 64 was a young kids dream back then.

Uh gotta agree with Mel. If you were born in 1996, you more than likely wouldn't remember seeing this stuff in 1996, they say that the human memory tends to start remembering around the age 5-6 with potential earlier glimpses but not full. I think if you watch the "Remember 2000" or "2001", you might remember more of the stuff that was relevant at that time, at least in pop culture media aimed at kids at the time.
Was 3/4 years old in 96 so hella faint memories but arguably the best year I was alive for imo...everything you see in the video but also arguably one of the best nba drafts and the year my favorite car was made (impala ss)
1996 was the year hip hop culture changed. By this point, new jack swing was a thing of the past, and Space Jam was the last hurrah for early 90s basketball culture. This was the start of millennium era hip-hop and r&b with "futuristic" videos and fashion sense
1996-1999 were the 4 greatest years of my entire childhood. and they happened consecutively. truly feel privileged.

I was 22 this year. Truly a great year from pop culture and entertainment standpoint.
I was born 1996 and I miss old times
You were too young to remember any of this so how would you know lol
Uh gotta agree with Mel. If you were born in 1996, you more than likely wouldn't remember seeing this stuff in 1996, they say that the human memory tends to start remembering around the age 5-6 with potential earlier glimpses but not full. I think if you watch the "Remember 2000" or "2001", you might remember more of the stuff that was relevant at that time, at least in pop culture media aimed at kids at the time.
Of all the years in the 90s I can remember '96 was my favorite. But '92 was the best year of all of them!😉
exactly, 92 was a great year. Its my favorite over 96, I guess 92 was just a more feel good year
'93 was my favorite.
This was great brought back memories
in 1996 I was eleven years old and I remember Blur, the elder scrolls 2: daggerfall, Babylon Zoo, Resident Evil... but Transpotting???
Yes, was a indie film in uk that becomes a succesful movie.
I remember the Olympics being in Atlanta this year......
Nice video, I remember to watch Independence Day at the movie theaters when I was 10 since I was in elementary school.
R.I.P. 2pac
The year I became conscious of being alive at the age of 3
