  • Scholars debate the meaning of 5 different words in Genesis 1:1. John Walton, N. T. Wright, Michael Heiser, and Tim Mackie all have different opinions about the meaning of specific words in this verse. In this video I summarize the arguments for and against each understanding of each of these words.

Thanks for this video and your great summary of all of these views. As always, you do a great job presenting all the views as they are without a strawman or any noticeable bias. I would love to see another video!

LETS GO NEW CALEB SMITH UPLOAD!
This was some pretty interesting stuff I hadn’t thought about before. It’s cool and awesome to me to see just how many different ways there are to interpret God’s word. Thanks for that bit at the end explaining why it’s important to think about these things!

I'm new to your channel. Another approach is to see how we should understand Genesis 1 in light of Exodus 20:8-11 and ask "What does 'Remember' (zakar /זכר) mean throughout the OT and its NT equivalent ἀνάμνησιν (anamnēsin)?" Specifically in relation to redemptive-historical (or in this case creational) events.

Really interesting, I'll reference this video as a great case study on the complexity that goes into merely reading the bible, and the assumptions we bring to the text that we may not be aware of.

It is describing the Creation through Christ. Like Jonah Christ was under the waters of Death. No cross no creation. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.

The Septuagint is older and was translated from the living word by Hebrew scholars, not the Masoretic text. This is why Christianity exploded, because all the authors were preaching from the Septuagint because Greek was the world language at the time. The Masoretic text also made multiple changes to the text that differed from the original living word that is present in the Septuagint. So if you want to get to the original living word, you need to either just read the Septuagint or compare the two against each other.

John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
What beginning was the devil murderering ? Genesis 1:1 In the beginning.
Genesis 1 is ELOHIM (Lucifer and the fallen angels).
    They made this realm.
They made man in their image. (tares)
Man is an idol, a trap to hunt angels.
Genesis 2:7 the Lord God forms His representative in their system. (wheat)
    One Gospel:
    Gospel (GOOD ANGEL) of Reconciliation.
Jesus Christ came into THEIR kingdom
to reconcile fallen angels unto Himself.
We are the fallen angels (ELOHIM) kept in DNA chains of darkness.
If you do not confess being a fallen angel in Lucifer's kingdom, then you are an unbeliever.
Unbeliever = those that claim to be made in the image of ELOHIM(gods).
    REPENT FALLEN ANGELS.
