Umm, nah... I've played both versions multiple times and the TurboGrafx-16 version is better in every way, especially the sound...

To me "Definitive" sounds like "The version you should play", and with that in mind, I think that the TurboGrafx-16 version is the Definitive version, because having played both, that is the one I'd recommend to anyone who hasn't played it before, and I'd also recommend it to anyone who has played the SMS version because that way they can have an even better experience when they replay the game...
As for someone who has played the TurboGrafx-16 version but not the Master System version, they're not really missing out on much, they've already had the superior experience...
Did you even read my previous comments? In my very first reply I've answered: "I've played *both versions* Multiple Times"! I've beaten them both time and time again, and from my experience, the TurboGrafx-16 version is the superior version in every way, it's got better graphics, WAY better music, better sound effects, smoother scrolling and a proper save system as opposed to passwords (although you can use passwords in it too)
Also "Objectively" doesn't exist, each one has their own perspective for what they would call "objective"... Heck I've heard people say the SMS version is better because it's got "Better Character Design" (which I completely disagree with), because of Nostalgia, because that's the "Real Sega Version of a Sega Game" (read: "Fanboyism") and because they 'somehow' prefer the tinny bassless music of the Master System...
I totally don't get them, but I respect that, that said though, I'd still say the TurboGrafx-16 version is the one that everyone *should* play

The physics seem a bit different between the updated graphics and the older graphics.

The physics is identical when switching modes, so it must be the added frames. Note that the physics has been bumped up to 60 hz compared to the original 30 hz, so it is smoother than the SMS version.

You mean Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom? That is also Wonder Boy, it's just that they didn't get the rights for the Wonder Boy name.
Monster Boy is a new series of Monster World franchise.
This game is a dream come true. I'd kill for a collector's edition.

I need this game like, yesteday. I'm a huge fan of the original, and this remake looks and sounds amazing! I haven't been this excited for a game in a long, long time. And the new Zelda was just released, that should be saying something!
Also, so very happy that they're using real live instruments instead of digital ones. There a are lot of small nuances and differences in sound that makes digital ones sound, well stiff like they said in the video.
Switching between the classic and remake is an awesome idea, but I'm not using it! Seen and heard the original quite alot during my 26 years of owning the game, so really looking forward to seeing everyhing with the new visuals and sound/music.
How about mix and matching the different graphics and sound?

S.L. Skeffington That single button mentioned in the video could switch between the 4 possible combinations.
You can do every single combo and it's been shown there are some nice extra features to simulate scanlines and old CRT looks a little bit when on retro mode.
Guys, there's one more thing to add in regards to the audio. Wonder Boy III supported the FM sound unit for Master System Japan (even though it was never released in Japan). I know it's a lot to ask for but the third sound option would be nice! The programming is already there. You just need to add it.

How can i load my 89 save??? Where do i have to type it in?
Sorry for our late answer! When creating a new save slot at the point of selecting Boy/Girl you can press TRIANGLE to input a password.
I am so getting this game and playing it in the new hand-drawn graphics with the old music. The 8-bit music is awesome.
This is genius, it's great that you can transfer your old save data from the original game to the remake itself by using a password

I'm literally choking on the amounts of hype right now. The master system was my first console and Wonderboy 3 was the first game I bought on my own for it. This remake just brings tears of joy. I can't wait to play it!

Any words about a Xbox One Version? Because i get the feeling i can't play it on pc...because seems like even games like that need 100GB RAM, an i500 CPU and an Nvidia GTXX 4600 TiSUG....

Since the original Master System version ran at only 30 fps, shouldn't switching to 8 bit mode switch the game to 30 fps as well? Or is that taking the nostalgia a bit too far.

that will make the things much faster, make then run on weaker hardware, but of course, keep the option to run it on normal html/js version for the devices that cant run the latest browsers

Day 1 purchase for me guys it was one of my best games for my Sega master system II, amazing art work and I love the 1 button 8 bit mode and passcodes idea is brilliant
Hard to say if the retro option is there by choice or just to shut up the people who were complaining about the 'modernised' music.
Either way looking to pick this up whenever it launches.
If it bothers you so much, just download the original then.
It was planned really early on, and we went through lots of R&D to do it right.
Well if that's the case then fair enough. I never played the original myself since I was more a Lemmings kid back then, but I'll be looking to get this whenever it releases.

In the first episode of his LP, Tealgamemaster managed to glitch out the retro/HD transition, making his screen half-HD half-retro. This really showcased how seamless the transition was, showing enemy sprites move between the two screen areas...
It's not a glitch it was an intended feature :) if you mash the button the transition starts slowing down and eventually comes to a rest!

I've been wondering... How does the password system handle the charm stones (if it does)?
Because we changed the charm stone system the answer is a little tricky. The old charm stones are "imported" but not displayed, and they only serve as some of the game secrets requires 99 old charm stones to work.
The new charm stones (6 of them) unfortunately don't fit inside the retro password.
Okay, that's pretty much how I suspected it works, after reading that password analysis page on SMS Power. Import the old stones for the 99 check, and leave the new ones out of the password. Thanks.
