Very true, the entire Caribbean had a large African presence because of importing West Africans. Most of them gained their freedom when the Spanish abolished slavery so the Africans were assimilated over time. As opposed to say Haiti, that was pretty segregated and homogeneous, which is why despite being a French colony, most Haitians have no French ancestry.
