SM is one of the OG kpop companies in korea, like SM is kinda where kpop started. So getting into SM (or the other big companies like JYP and YG) is a huge deal for people aspiring to be kpop artists.
For YangYang, he was already living in Germany where he broke his shoulder and had to undergo surgery when he dreamed of performing while being put under anesthesia. Then he went to Taipei to audition. (Also, for Doyoung, Do is pronounced as “do” from do-re-mi)
SM Saturday auditions are really famous and the toughest one.Not many people can make it through and if you got into SM through Saturday auditions than that's something really honourable

In Lucas' case, the rumour is that he was auditioned for being a model (Sm has idol department, actor department and model department). Sm accepted him as a model trainee but later they transferred him to the idol department and now he becomes one.
btw many audition/casting stories from kpop idols are funny af. EXO (NCT's senior)'s Sehun was being approached by a sm staff when he was eating with his friend. Since his mum said 'run away if there's stranger trying to talk to you', he ran away for like 30 minutes but later he gave up lol

@6:28 to answer your question, they are laughing because Taeyoung named our loud BROADCASTING companies that are very famous in Korea. Taeyoung thought they were the same thing as MUSIC companies hehe. When in reality the “Big 3” music labels famous in Korea is SM, JYP, and YG.

lol for Taeyong's story their all laughing cause he only knew 3 broadcasting companies (not entertainment companies). So he listed MBC, KBS, and SBS, instead of SM, JYP, and YG lol
Actually, its really hard to believe. . .some of kpop idols story on how they entered companies is really funny but thats how kpop industry becomes unique for me,I mean,casting on streets,going in front in schools just to cast some students,casting them without telling what company it is...and SM ent casting some good looking kids without knowing if they can sing or even dance is really something (well,sm believes talent can be tought) Its pretty hard to debut as an Idol in korea especially in a big company like SM but if you ever casted on street then lucky you.If its hard for you to believe on how mark got in SM its pretty hard for me to believe in Lucas 🤣
